Wow Dino, nice radar!
Thanks heaps for those sites, I have bookmarked both of them. I also have the BOM site but I think the one you gave me dino is clearer.

Did either of you see the suggestion from Ruby yesterday. She said we could give each other a pressy by posting our favourite Chrissy receeps on the Recipe page. I'm currently trying to remember the receep of a layered ice-cream cake I used to make. The last time I made it was pre-kids so I am having to dig down in the depths of my memory for the ingredients and quantities!

Gail - Telstra blocked the net connection for me. No more accidental connections! I have nextG and it works in Moulamein - or it did when I visited. Mum has CDMA, will have to change over soon. She has just got home from travelling around Oz for 4 months and said her phone worked when some with nextG didn't - though neither worked a lot of the time. I think the phone itself makes a difference too - some do better than others.

Funny story from my mother's trip around Australia - while driving along one of the many roads with no phone coverage she stopped to help a German couple with a flat tyre. The husband had no idea how to use the jack! Mum changed their tyre for them, my 64 yo mother with a new hip, then followed them to the next town as they didn't speak English and she wanted to make sure they could explain about needing their wheel nuts tightened...

Thanks Suzy, I have definitely decided to contact Telstra about it tomorrow.
I can't believe that 10 years ago, I hadn't even heard of a mobile phone, now they are well and truly part of our lives.

Mum's friends were horrified when she said she was travelling alone. I told her they were acting as if she was 84, not 64. I think there was a huge 'but you're only a woman' element too. My father died when Mum was 36 leaving her with three children to raise alone. I think she's up to a cross-country trip!

Any advice for cleaning a much loved stuffed toy? D#2 cannot sleep without it, and absolutely refuses to have him put into a washing machine - how would he breathe?

You could try rubbing the fur with bicarb soda then brushing it gently with a nail brush. I understand why your D won't allow it in the washing machine! Exactly, how will he breathe???
Is there any possibility of putting him through the machine when she is not around? If you do use the machine, I would suggest putting him into a lingerie bag and using the gentle cycle. They can breathe if you put them into a bag because then it's like scuba diving!

Speaking of washing machines, mine's calling me again plus I should fling food around the kitchen too before my darlings start to nibble on my arm!
CMS (cold meat and salad) for dinner tonight. It was supposed to be warmer than it is though!
Catch you later.

My sunshine is gone, bummer. it is warm, damp and cloudy, oh well, cannot have constant sunshine in November i suppose. Still no coats, and today not even a light jacket, long sleeve shirt is sufficient.
I am tryng to make myself stay in sewing room today. I need to make a gift for my quilting board buddy, we drew names. tha tis a bit hard to do over the internet, but one of the ladies husband did the drawing and e-mailing for us this year hehehe. Must get it finished soon, has to travel all across the USA to washing ton state! Almost up to Canada, a long trip. So if you see me here, send me back to the dungeon, I mean sewing room.

MizT, mostly sunny here. The temp leaves something to be desired tho (upper 40's).
Suzy, I wash stuffed animals on the gentle cycle. To dry, I put them in the dryer with a couple of tennis balls. 15 min. regular heat, 15 min. air only. Keep doing this until it's dry. The tennis balls keep the stuffing from becoming lumpy. Hope this helps.
Well, off to SIL for supper. Hope everyone has a good day. See ya later.

Putting Teddy in a lingerie bag is a good idea. It will help him stay together, and if he doesn't, it will help with the parts. Dryers work best when they have enough contents to tumble. If you put a dry towel or two in with Teddy, it will increase the dryer's efficiency by dissipating the heat and moisture, and it will give him a softer, gentler place to bounce around. Moistened towels and a few minutes in the dryer do wonders for heavily wrinkled items, by the way.

Suzy, I had a look at the 'Dancer' and saw her going anti-clockwise. I sent the link to my daughter she saw it going clockwise. My husband was looking at my laptop screen and saw it going clockwise at the same time I was seeing it go anti- clockwise. Then they all looked at my screen two saw clockwise and one saw anti-clockwise. Strangely we saw it change directions too but never at the same time.

One down, two to go... I don't know if anyone remembers the bodies in the barrels murders and how close they happened to my home. The first of the three charged pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting and has been given 22 years in jail (can't believe it's being spelt that way now).

I mostly see the dancer moving clockwise still, though sometimes she will turn for me. We had the same thing with different people seeing her move in different directions at the same time. Weird!

Hi, Suzy. I have finally watched your dancing girl, and found it all very entertaining. At first, and for the longest time, she moved clockwise, and then she switched to counter-clockwise. After that, whenever I changed my focus, she switched. I watched her for a long time. Finally, she stopped jumping up and down, looked me dead in the eye and said she was drunk and tired and was going to get into a lingerie bag and take a wash. By the way, she cussed like a sailor.

Dino - so do I worry that my 14 yo has started craving chocolate after not liking it for most of her life? She doesn't seem depressed... I had to take her to emergency last weekend (her eye swelled close) and gave her a flyer - told her that if she saw any signs in her friends she should tell someone - now I learn from you that it could be her!

Thinking about it though, D#2 could probably do with chocolate, definitely a worrier... Tonight she asked if my operation was going to hurt. You'd think it was her going under the knife...

SUZY, the quilting gift will take me more than one day, cause I am moving slowly now. My not such a nice friend Author Itis is visiting and he keeps me from working at sewing for long at a time.
I am making a quilted and appliqued tote bag. I made one for myself about 4 years ago, with lots of interior pockets and a couple on the outside. I took it with me as my carry on bag when I flew to Minesotta for a meeting of our internet quilt club. (We actually had one couple from Australia and one couple from England attend this meeting, and it was wonderful to meet them in person after talking to them for ages online.) Everyone there loved the tote, so I have already given one as a gift, and this year, another of the ladies will get one.
I am supposed to take a photo to show and tell the day after Christmas, so, I will try to remember to post it on my page here.
Suzy, do you quilt? I have quilt photos on my page and some stories about a few in the sudokuquilters discussion page in forums. I love to talk quilts and would love to see anything you have made.

MizT - I'm an amateur quilter - make very small items only, no actual quilts! I do have a beautiful Baltimore quilt that my grandmother made me though, and a couple of my embroidery designs have been published in country craft magazines. They're very simple designs, true to a country theme. I used to sell them at markets/swap meets.
