OH SUZY, how nice that you were able to sell som eof your designs. THAT makes you a professional, my friend and better than I will ever be! Small quilted items still makes you a quilter. I do not do the huge ones myself. I was always more comfortable with lap size down to baby quilts and wall hangings. But do not give me the minature quilts either, just too many pieces in those and so demanding of perfection!

Suzy, I have a strong suspicion that chocolate cravings are related to hormones (or lack of them) which would explain my periodic binges. But since I've been post-menopause for a while now, I can't check it out. If so, then choc is the ideal solution for PMT, if not for weight control.

Hey Dino, Buddhists were mentioned again in the doco I saw on Sunday 'Bomb Harvest' about an Aussie bomb disposal tech in Laos. He is one of three brothers all in bomb disposal. He said it gives his parents something to worry about!(and I thought I had probs)It was an eye opener of a movie

No Dino, It was on at the flicks...won awards at the Sydney Festival I think...The Laos people are incredibly resiliant and 'accepting'(?) of the devastation wrought on their land. They are paying a high price for Western aggression and arrogance.

MizT, I had a friend who made huge quilts, mostly for friends or herself, but she made at least one to someone's design and they paid her $3000 for it. They then had it valued - $12,000. Her quilts are magnificent. I have a small sampler she made early on.

Stuffed toy update - I tried baking soda first (least invasive), but poor Loo was too far gone. I didn't have a spray bottle of carpet or upholstery cleaner so decided to try stain remover - the kind you spray on clothes. I put some on a small area and used a wet cloth to wipe it off and a nail brush to detangle Loo's fur. D#2 was initially upset because Loo smelled funny (the spray had eucalyptus in it - which is what made me think to try it, a combination of three suggestions!), but has now decided she would like the whole toy done in just the same way. It took about 15 minutes to do one spot!!

Stuffed toy continued - I thought about putting Loo in the washing machine while D#2 was at school, but decided I couldn't risk it. She is going on her first school camp (three days, two nights) and is very nervous. My surgery is scheduled for the day she comes home. She is convinced she won't see me for a week (actually works out to be 2 days if you count morning farewell's and hospital visits) and is very stressed. She is a bucket of stress this child! That's why I introduced her to Loo in the first place, to try to find something to help her with her nightmares...

Yesterday D#2 asked if we could Google her name to see if there was anyone else out there with the same name as her. Surprises though - SHE came up - twice! One is on a baseball website with her sister and Jeannie Lesko/Des Combes, the other is for getting a 'place' in the Stewart House card competition last year....

Gail or any friends from Australia. I have just opened a packet of one of our favourite biscuits and I wondered if you might have a recipe for them.
They are Anzac biscuits.

Morning Sudoluland! Coffee is ready along with tea and cho-co-loc-a-late

After a several day visit of that old Author Itis fellow, Yesterday I woke feeling fine as frogs hair. We made good use of this, and went shopping! I thought I was on vacation, as we ate both lunch and dinner out! Lunch was a imprompto picinic, picked up grilled chicken sandwiches and took them to the local park, beside the "river" .

Yes, it is called the Little Cahaba River, and at our park, I could wade across it any time of year, never getting my knees wet, except for a rare flash flood! Only as wide as a 2 lane road. I was wondering why it was called a river, and not a creek or stream or brook or some other name, so I looked it up. Rivers are so named not by how much water flows, or how wide or deep they are, but how long they are. Bit of trivia for ya this morning! We were able to park right on river bank, and rolled down windows and sat in the car. Yes, we do have picinic tables, but car is much more comfy and we were in a bit of a hurry, but I enjoyed the sunshine and watching the water. Did I ever tell ya, I love water views? i would sit and enjoy a mud puddle if it were a large one!!

Brenda, I have posted one recipe for Anzac Biscuits. I'm sure there are others! This one is a favourite, even my Aussie friends like the biscuits chewy rather than crunchy. I've put both cooking times in, well, one time and then the way I measure it - by looking, no idea how long I actually cook them for!

Thank you MizT.
Even though we don't 'do' Thanksgiving here, I would just like to give thanks to all my cyber friends here in SA. You have brought me back out of a shell I was rapidly retreating into. I am a sufferer of Housewives Agoraphobia, and there have been times in my life when I have stayed stuck in the house, except for getting the kids to and from school. Earlier this year, I had lost confidence again, and was regressing, but being here with you, I remembered how good it is to communicate and I have been out and about like KRAAAZY, and loving it!

Gail, I am sure that, like me, everyone is pleased that we have helped you. I know I enjoy the chat in SA as normally I am a very shy person who very rarely chats to people I don't know. Friends do not have to live close by to be helpful

Hi, Everyone! I don't have any fancy smilies or cards or words. I would just like to say Thank You to each of you. With less than 2 hours until it officially becomes Thanksgiving here, I would like all of you to know that you friends I have made here on the SA pages are among the people I give thanks for. May each of you and your families have a wonderful day, whether it is Thanksgiving in your part of the world - or "just another day." Thank you for the caring and camaraderie. May you all be blessed!

Let me join the Gail and Julie in saying thanks to everyone here. My grandpa used to say, "Some days you're the dog and some days you're the tree." On the days I felt like the latter, you all have picked me up and made the day better.

And may we remember everyday that our happiness arises from the kindness of others and through being kind to others we become happy.
I think this is a special group of people and I treasure my connection with each of you. (And I hope my heart connection is more reliable than my computer connection)

My niece is in Surfers celebrating Schoolies week, and wants to come home. Apparently after 4 days of doing the same thing, it gets kind of boring. The fact that she took the elevator up to her hotel floor with police who were coming to check out a girl who had overdosed (my niece saw her and she didn't look good) probably has a lot to do with it too. Mum has refused to pay for an early ticket home. Hmmm. In a way I think my sister-in-law is right. A good lesson for the future?

Morning Sudokuland!

Coffee and other nice warm drinks are here, join me in a cuppa.

I am off to the showers, then get the food organized for the trip and off we go! A cold front came through last night, the high for the day was the midnight reading, I must dress warm today. It is couldy and dull, looks like a winter day.

Hope everyone has the day they long for today!

I shall add all my sudoku family in the list of things I am thankful for today!

Tricia
