Hi Ruby, Rolanda and Gail,
Have had a bit of a cold and trying to catch up on some overdue gardening and other jobs. I have also had Laura quite a bit lately and I do not get much to do then.
I saw yestreday that you were off for some retail therapy Gail. Did it have the desired effect?

Hi Ruby and Rolanda. Thought I wasn't going to get on today but as usual, I'm being very Cleopatra about STUFF! Will have to grab some meat out to defrost. Stir fry for dinner tonight, not that I want any. I had to go out to lunch AGAIN today. Hard life.

It is always great to buy something you like that does not break the bank. I must admit most of my bargain hunting is looking for things for grand kids.

That's a good system for tax payment. I presume we're talking about taxes on you house and land. Here, if you are still paying for your house, the bank divides the taxes into twelve equal payments that you make with your mortgage payment. The money is held in an escrow account until the first of the year, when the bank makes your payment from that account. Otherwise it's one lump sum due December 31. It can really make Christmas and New Year's a joyous season.

That seems like a good system Ruby. I do a lot of my major expenses that way, like house insurance ets. Pay it over the 12 months so I don't have to feel like a pauper once every year.

I am lucky that Hubby takes care of all the bills. When he retired Hubby set up an allocated pension account for me and I use that for grocery and all personal shopping. With mortgage paid and no children to support it means we can
be comfortable. I can remember what it was like with school expenses, etc when we were younger and every penny counted. However those thrifty ways still stay with us.

Will be back later. Have to go now, the clothes basket just came and tapped me on the shoulder! Must mean that load is desparate to be hung out. Still have to get that meat out of the freezer too!
