STELLA, the brain can work better under pressure, you secrete adrenaline, and that sharpens all the senses. and some people like the adrenaline rush, so develope the habit of waiting just to get that.

I have a niece, when in college, would have a MAJOR paper due, with weeks of research done, but wait till the night before it was due to WRITE IT, footnotes, bibliography and all. Then do it brilliantly and get wonderful grades.

I would be so fearful something would go wrong. My printer would run out of ink, or my computer would crash, or the electricity would go out. OH I could find about a million tragedies that could prevent me from finishing in time! AND those fears would keep me paralized and i could not write a paper worth a dern!

Different strokes for different folks.

Good morning, a beautiful sunny morning here but a little chilly. It is definitely September now.
I am procrastinator. I usually put things off until the last minute. Last year I had to plan some Brownie meetings and didn't do it until the night before. They went well and the girls had fun, and that's what counts. I'll probably do the same thing again this year.

Hi Rena, I used to run Rainbows years ago and tended to leave planning until the last moment. None of the activities disappointed the girls.

I know there is a better method to solve this, but it's been many years since my algebra days. So on that note, I used the following symbols:
a = 1st friend
b = 2nd friend
c = 10
x = # of stamps

With a basic formula of: x = a + b + c

I broke it down as follows:
a = 1/2x + 5 (50)
b = 3/4a + 10 (30)
c = 1/4a (10)

I also worked this problem backwards. I figured that j had 10 and his 2nd friend got 10 of the stamps. Added the 2 together and got 20. Double that number, because 20 is 1/2 of what was left over from the first amount. Added b and c together (40). I then added the 5 onto 40 so as to make it 1/2 of the number of stamps. From there I doubled 45 and came up with 90.

I don't know if this makes any sense to anyone except me, but this is how I did it. Hubby doesn't understand my logic, but it worked.

Becky, your backward way is exactly the way I figured it out. I originally tried to do an equation but then it occurred to me that solving it backward would be easy.

What two words, formed from different arrangements of the same seven letters, can be used to complete the sentence below?

Harriet tried to write a history of her grandfather's infantry __________________, but it turned out to be so long that she had to ___________________the whole middle section.

Quiet day today! Kind of a mixed day here. Cloudy and warm, then rain, which I thought would cool us down, but the sun came out, the temperature went up and the humidity skyrocketed. Still warm out even though the sun has gone down. Hubby is still working outside in the yard and we didn't have dinner because S#2 went to a friend's house and the dinner planned was for 3.

Mary, outstanding, absolutely outstanding (an infantry compliment). I was stuck in "experience" and "redact" and other dead ends that I finally gave up in frustration....or perhaps flustration.

I skipped about 10 puzzles because they were too easy or silly. Here's another word one.

1) Take a word that means "to rupture" and change one letter to find a word that means "austere."

2) Take a word that means "to mount," and change one letter to find the word for a weather area.

When I was at the store today in the area for college dorm room supplies (sheets, pillows, white boards, lights, etc), I heard a voice that said, "I haven't seen a disco ball in such a long time." I turned to look and it was a kid about 5 years old. He picked up the light and repeated what he said to the adult with him. He had such a serious face. I couldn't stop laughing.
