Hi June - so I'm not the only Aussie awake when they should be asleep. Col goes to work between 3.30am and 5.30 am every morning. Most mornings he's lucky if I stir enough to kiss him goodbye. Today (at 3.30) he had 4 tries at starting his ute. Now wide awake, tried to sleep, should be sleeping - those 2 terrors/darlings will be awake by 7am or so. Still wide awake!!

Oh, I must be more tired than I thought - didn't even look at the number of posts.
June - have fun with Laura. I'm taking the girls to see Santa (every week for Chloe, first time for Em).

Yes, Gail/Tami - the PSP's batteries were flat - but we brought along the charger!! Never mind though, also bought along the DS. Kids have so many expensive electronic toys these days. She also has an Ipad Touch which was her father's but his Iphone has the same capabilities so she inherited that. The other day he was lamenting not owning his own home any more - I told him to stop buying expensive toys and gadgetry and he'd have a house in a flash!!

So much for napping. As soon as I signed off, Robert showed up, and we went to work outside.... in the falling snow... and installed another 32 feet of fence. Of course, something had to go wrong. The right side door latch on the tractor broke off. So the door couldn't shut. We temporarily wired it shut so the heater can be used, but I'll have to get it replaced ASAP. The door latch on the other side is acting up, too.

Hello all,

Have not finished reading all the news, but I did have a 4 hour nap!! Spending close to 3 hours in the car yesterday and then sitting around all day chatting with relatives, my back and hips were aching this morning. Feel much better now.

It's still snowing here. There's a couple of inches on the ground and it's cold enough that I think it's here to stay.

This weekend we will get our tree. I have all the decorations in the living room and this is the year I am going to clean them out. There's a lot of stuff we just don't use any more and never will - time to be ruthless and toss them!

This is my SIL's later week for work, so I get to put the grandies to bed. They went to see Santa yesterday and I'm sure I'll hear all about it when I see them after school.

Off to do some ffuts now - hope to be back later.

Morning all,
Theresa, I don't think I could tell the difference between -6C and colder, I have never in my life been anywhere that cold! Brrrrr

Cyn, did you win the no TV argument.? I hope so because you'll need the quiet time to prepare yourself for today...

June, our cat is fussy like that. He only likes one type of food in one brand... boring if you ask me, but he won't eat anything else, it just sits there and goes bad in his bowl. Luckily for us it is generic sardines in jelly and not the most expensive brand name out there!

Cyn, I agree with the advice you gave your son, just the games to go with those gadgets can cost $70 each! Add up all of that... and why did he need a new phone if the old one was working? I see she just traded for another game system.

Heidi, I agree, at this time of year you definitely need a door and a heater in your tractor!

Theresa, I'm glad you got your nap and feel better! I had to do that yesterday, though I didn't make 4 hours

Right now it's at today's high temperature... 21℉ / -6℃. It feels like late January. Way too cold for this time of year.

I feel your pain, Heidi. With our wind chill it feels like -12C. The school bus was a little late and it wasn't pleasant standing around outside. Today I'm even cold in the house ... I've slowly been turning the heat up today.

I forgot to take meat out of the freezer, so we're having pancakes and bacon for supper. Hubby called and said he'll be about an hour late, so I can just wait until he gets home to start them.

Heidi, bacon is very high in sodium, which is a no-no for Suzy. I will make the bacon, but I only make enough slices for hubby. I love it too, but I also am not supposed to have it.

Good Morning all.
Another wet one today. I must remember to pack lots of books for my holiday at the beach as I don't think I'll get much beach time.
Shaun is taking the dog to the vet today. He has a cut on his neck which he has scratched until it is an enormous open sore. He had an insect bite which he has also scratched until it is red raw. I need to get him fixed before he goes to the kennel for Chrissie. They charge extra to administer medication.

I don't think I'm even slightly ready for Christmas this year.
Christmas tree and decorations - still in the boxes on the top of the wardrobe and that's where they will probably stay.
Christmas presents - none bought but I have considered a few ideas.
Christmas food - I'll think about that when I get to the beach.
Packing to go away - Haven't thought about that and probabaly won't start until the Friday night before I leave.
Do you think all this is saying that I'm not a bit interested in Christmas? I find the hype surrounding this time of the year is a real turn off. I love spending Christmas day with the family - the more the merrier. I really enjoy the time after lunch when we just sit around and drink and nibble and enjoy each others company.

Vicki - that was my attitude UNTIL I had grandchildren. Col was the original Bah Humbug. Suddenly he was buying strands of lights, nodding lighted reindeers, and I was buying new tree decorations, all things festive. And enjoying getting just the right gift for the grandies. I expect that by another 10 years we'll be back in your cycle......

Fat too Theresa, my cholesterol is really high.

Vicki I hope the vet is able to fix your dog up quick, it sounds painful!!

I have been dropping in and out while I decorate the tree. Nomnom will play with the 3 decorations I have put on the lowest level while I'm there decorating, but as soon as I walk away, so does he. Let's hope that continues!!!

No, it won't, Suzy. Once he gets comfortable with the tree he'll be climbing it, knocking off ornaments or pulling down the lights. He's a kitten.

It's been up for about a week Heidi, though with only a few decorations on it until today, and apart from when Ally was putting up those few, today is the first time I've seen him near it. I hold out mild hope!!

Copy of an email I sent to hubby - warning, there is swearing in it...

I started to finish the tree decorating, but there is still stuff in boxes

I started washing towels, but they are still in the machine, did the too heavy thing so I have to keep going back and letting out water and putting back on track in the cycle

I started finishing off the Xmas presents for friends and got a lot done, but there still aren't enough

I started cleaning bathrooms but didn't get very far

Do you think I might be having concentration problems today????

The dog is back from the vet. He has a hot spot caused by a wet collar rubbing. He now has a medicated wash (he hates being bathed) anti-biotics twice a day, a cream to be applied twice a day and his ears also need to be treated twice a day. He is going to be so unhappy.

I know the cold down here is nothing compared to Heidi and Theresa but, we are expecting the coldest December days since 1910. It is expected to be near 40 (4.4 c).That is cold for South Florida.

Theresa - I had one grandie who took until 10.30 to go to sleep last night (Em, of course)!
I'm probably speaking too soon but these girls have been excellent this morning, no fighting, no tantrums - they are outside playing babies with their dolls and prams and the dog following them happily.

Tami, as far as I'm concerned that IS cold!!!

Theresa, I foresee people getting very wet and wrenched backs trying to get him to stand still for the cream - unless it is soothing and then it might be better. I hope it makes him feel better.

Theresa, it's about a half an hour plus fiddling. My hands don't work as well as they used to so I crochet slower than before.

Cyn, you are right. Christmas is all about kids and since we don't have any littlies in the family, I just can't muster any enthusiasm.
I have decorations for the tree that I have never used. I bought them about 4-5 years ago - it's been at least that long since I put the tree up. We've even thrown out the outdoor lights.
#2 son doesn't want any presents this year and #1 only wants jocks and socks. I think it's rubbing off on them.

Morning everyone.
My computer monitor died yesterday, the boy has plugged his monitor to our pooter this morning, only a temporary fix till he gets me a new one.
I had a very quick read, lots of Christmas talk...
Like Victoria, I have no enthusiasm either...
Like Suzy, I do not get far with doing stuff...
June.. ♥ to friend!
Unlike the rest of the world, no snow, no rain..
Temps reasonable here at the moment.
I think it will be warmer by the end of the week.!!
