Week 29 non weigh in
I am leaving it longer between weigh ins as I have embarked on a gym course which weighs and measures once a month. that day is the 3rd of August so I will report then.
Keith
I agree it is getting harder and hence my reasons for changing tack BUT I wont give up either. In the couple of weeks after my party I did put on 2 kgs and that is why I have decided to apply myself in a different course of action for a while. If I can hold the weightloss through winter I will be rapt and then start to lose more again as the weather warms up. But I am really pleased with myself that I am being pro active and not falling back into old ways of ...... oh well I just cant do it. I WILL DO IT!!!
Keith you are doing great, hang in there

Just popping in to see how you are all doing. Congratulations everyone you are all doing so well. I lost 16lbs and then promptly put on 4 of it again, it only takes a look and that little weight man is hanging himself on me - tish!! But overall I am lighter so can't complain. Off on my hols and indulge is the word that springs to mind...

Hi All. Weigh in this week is not so great. I gained almost 2 pounds. I just don't understand. I've been golfing, walking, swimming, drinking a ton of water, etc. I guess I will just have to go over my diet and figure it out. Maybe it's all the stress. Only 22 more days and things will either get a whole lot easier, or a whole lot more hectic if I have to go back to work. Cross your fingers for me.

Rosemary - I am looking forward to hearing about your new action plan and seeing the results!

Keith - You really need to hang in there, man :) I think of you often and wish that there was a way to put a bug in your ear to give you more encouragement. Stay strong.

Weigh in report for week 30: I did better this week and went down 4 pounds again. I still have 6 to go to get back to where I was before I went on the Columbia River cruise, but we're going to stay home for a while, so maybe I'll get there.

Angie, thanks for the kind words. It helps a lot.

Keith-you are most welcome! Really though, hang in there. This latest weight loss of yours should open everyone's eyes. Vacations, while awesome for the mind and spirit, can wreck havoc with our weight. I sure do wish that there was a way to go on vacation and still have healthy options available. I'm not talking about the lesser of two evils either. Should I have the king prime rib or queen? In all honesty, it doesn't make much of a difference. Both are so far over a normal serving size. And buffets will force you to eat all you want, even after you are full. After all, we all want to make sure we get to 'try' all the 'good' things they offer. My battle action for buffets is this: Always, always eat a whole plate of boring nutritious salad (low/no fat, low cal dressing and use it sparingly or not at all) before anything else goes on the plate or in my mouth. Don't eat lettuce? Eat a plate of mixed fruit or other veggies instead. And when you go up to the buffet for the rest of your meal, only take a bite or two of several different things. That way, you aren't forced to over-eat and you can always go back for more of something if it was really good. There you go, that's my advice for today. Take care, I care.

you are doing a great job and staying so positive is fantastic. it is so easy to say 'its all too hard'.
but I know I feel so much healthier than I did 6 months ago and if it takes another 6 months, 12 months so be it ......
Angie
hang in there, I just know that good things will be around the corner for you.

Haven't ventured to these pages for awhile...and there is a reason...While I'm still walking and getting to the gym on occassion...I have just let the rest of it go. My meals have reverted to 'whatever', I have indulged in all kinds of goodies from cake and ice cream to alcohol when I wanted..and even ate near bedtime. Of course I've regained most of the weight lost by my actions...yet there is a spark that tells me I will try again, and again until I do it right....at least I continue to move. Cheers to those who have maintained...It can be done...and I'll join you again at some point! Peace!

Hi Mama
life is not all about losing weight and depriving oneself.... but to enjoy also.
take time out occasionally to smell the roses and have some fun. then come back to reality and stay healthy.
Ok have continued to plough on even though I went through a bad couple of weeks and am now on the way back again. Still 1 kg over my lowest weight but have been going to gym 4 or 5 days a week and still doing 10 klms on exercise bike each night.
It only took a couple of weeks of not doing my exercise regime to put 3 kgs back on. that just reinforced to me how hard and life long this committment needs to be for me.
am looking forward to better weather and more salads and fresh fruits back into the menu. sunshine assists the mental side of feeling like it is worth the effort. t-shirts instead of jumpers and coats, the freedom to move easier.
the important thing is that even though the numbers didnt go my way for a couple of weeks I have worked harder now instead of every other time that I gave up and just put more weight on.
I am proud of myself for not giving up.
sending to anyone who is struggling.
cheers

Weigh in report for week 31: I gained 1 pound this week. Could have been worse ... I was pretty good about the exercise, but not so good about the eating and the beer.

rosemary, I'll take one of those hugs. Interesting how we both got off track but for different reasons. You got out of the exercise habit while I've been exercising more but not controlling what I've been putting in my mouth. Same end result, we both started gaining again. Just goes to show that to keep making progress, you can't let either part of it slide.

Mama, I'm cheering for you too, and hoping you get back on track sooner rather than later. Maybe try going back and reading what you wrote while you were having success.

Note: I tried to post a similar version of this a few minutes ago and it doesn't show. My apologies if this turns out to be a duplication.

Rose and Keith, Thanks much for the helpful words....I will be back, just not yet. Rosemary, I find it easier to take the weight off when its cool, dreary, etc....the nicer weather makes me want to play, chat and nibble rather than eat balanced meals that fill without the calories found in nibbles, and sweat in the gyms....oh well, I won't have to wait too long before the weather changes..I'll want to shop when I get to Euope. Angie..love the buffet mamagement plan....will put that idea into use. Hang tough folks, I'll be riding that same train again soon. Cheers!

Hi All. Stayed exactly the same in weight, but my shorts were a bit looser and got several compliments about how much weight I've lost. Cool. As per the buffet conversation, I found a pretty neat site that covers everything about eating out. I think it was geared towards how to keep your kids healthy, but it has some really great info and is easy reading. I will post it here and hope for the best. If you want me to message it to you, let me know.

Weigh in report for week 32, I lost two pounds this week. The first half I was very bad, and the last half I was very good. Hope I've started a new trend.

Well Keith, you figured out something very important. Just because you have a bad day or two (or even 3), doesn't mean that the rest of the week is in the garbage. One or two days of easing up is one way to get your metabolism to stay high, even on the days when you eat less. Keep up the great work! I, on the other hand, went camping for our annual girls-only weekend. I ate like a starving crazy woman (and only one good food passed my lips the whole weekend; eggs for breakfast saturday) and sat around the fire drinking malted beverages and doing as little as possible. I almost didn't weigh in this morning (knowing it would be bad), but I was glad I did. Only a half pound gain. Still leaves me a good 5.5 pounds from my goal. Good thing I only go camping with the girls once a year.

Weigh in report for week 33, I've had relatives visiting, completely let myself go, didn't restrict my eating, drank all the beer I wanted, and gained 4 pounds. Apparently, Angie, I'm working on the ''get the metabolism high'' thing long term. I still believe that I will get this thing done, but it is sure taking longer than I thought it would, and being a lot harder than I thought at first when I was losing 2 pounds a week, consistently.

Weigh in report for week 34, I lost one pound. I think I'm being a little bit better about controlling what goes into my mouth, but wasn't very consistent this week about the exercise thing.

rosemary, I am "hanging in there" even though this is a bumpy plateau I'm on. I'm not giving up.

Hey folks...I'm so proud of you still fighting the hard battle of losing AND keepingthe weight off!I am walking everyday, and am back in the gym in spite of some minor health issues...and I still weigh 5 lbs less than I did in January. I plan on making a true second effort after the Labor Day Holiday. It will be after a long weekend vacation, and will start my busy season...thus I will have more to do than sit around reading, eating and hanging out on the pooter....it will all help. I'll start reporting again mis September....see you all then..cheers -water of course...

Hi all. Sorry I haven't been around a whole lot. I checked in and stuff, but it's been a bleak couple weeks over here. Usually when something big comes up and I get super busy, I end up eating everything except the tablecloth and utensils. This time, I didn't have an appetite and thus lost almost 2 pounds. I am going back to work in the next week or so. I am not sure just how much time I will have to spend on the computer, so I'll check in when I can. Keep with it everyone!

Rosemary- try to jump off that roller coaster when it's headed down, stay focused, drink your water, keep us all in line, you are an awesome woman!

Mama- glad to here that you are back in saddle, as they say. (who are 'they' anyway) You have a couple of months before the next big holiday, so starting after Labor day is a good idea. Keep in touch, okay

Keith- Man, if I ever hear about your wife freaking out because you are stained from head to toe an odd shade of red..... just kidding. Bloody Mary's might be a better option over beer, but not if you are going to dunk yourself in them. Maybe try this, for each 'drink', then you must have one glass of water. I seem to be a wealth of information.....I just wish that I could follow some of it too :)

Take Care, I Care and I hope to talk to you guys soon.

Hey All, I started a fitness regime at the start of the year and lost 7k before the onset of winter. Despite sometimes indulging in lovely things over the winter I have managed to retain the weightloss(sort of...close enough!). I will use the start of spring to relaunch the fitness regime to shed the last few k. I WILL!

Have visited this page many times and silently wished you all well. Congratulations and keep up the good efforts.
Before I stopped working at the end of 05, my weight had seesawed over a five kilo range, peaking at around 75kg (according to the industrial pallet scales at work!). Way too heavy for a shorty like me.
In July of 06, my whole family were re-uniting to celebrate my mother's 80th so I used this as a goal to weight loss. I started walking around the block every day. Luckily, that block was a five kilometre walk up hill and down dale. The whole time I walked, I chanted a mantra to myself, "My sister's arent doing this, my sister's aren't doing this", and it worked! I now weigh less than 60kg.
What I am trying to say is set little goals and when you reach them, move the goalposts.

Weigh in report for week 35: I lost 2 pounds. Maybe I've gotten myself going in the right direction again. I'm still not back to the consistent exercise routine and strict diet that I was able to do Jan. through March, but getting closer.

Rolanda,Rosemary, Mamacita, Mary, and Gail, it was pretty quiet on these pages for a few weeks. Nice to have some company again. It'll never work unless we stick with it.

havent got to the gym for the weigh in yet as not feeling all that well myself .... dreaded virus is catching me I think.
but think I am still about the same so not going to worry too much till I feel better. still watching what I eat, went for a walk yesterday and rode 5klms on the exercise bike so that should help to maintian it till I feel ready for the gym again.

Its after Labor Day, and as said I have restarted my efforts to loss the excess weight. My base measurements and weight have been recorded, I'm back to water drinking almost totally, even though I will not start officially until Monday, Sept. 10th. I must add more strength training, to accomplish the upper body loss that I want. The cardio efforts are good I'm told...so I'm about ready to hit the decks sweating, increase my metabolism and attempt to lose an average of two lbs weekly. I'm loving the added company here and wish all well....Cheers, you know the rest...weight will go!
