Hi all. Suzy good luck with the surgery.

I have some good news and I want to have a sook. The good news is that I have lost 9kgs all up now. Now the sook, I work in a large organization, the other day my supervisor went to our other office, I always say to her "Bring me back something special" On her return she came in laughing to my office which I share with three other woman, and handed me a piece of paper and something wrapped in a tissue. On closer inspection I realized that there was a crumb of cake stuck to the paper and written was 'here is a piece of cake for you' and in the tissue was a wafer thin dry biscuit with a crumb of cheese on it. She nows that I am dieting because of poor health. I was really embarrassed. Not only did she embarrass me in front the other girls in the office, she had been at the other office with her supervisor and another girl making my little present up and having a good old laugh at my expence. I wonder if I only had one leg would my present be one shoe, I think not. Then today I was telling someone from that other office and about what happened and she new about it. There is about 200 people at that office, do they all know? Just because I joke about my weight does it give other people the right to joke about it. Also they have stopped having morning teas for birthdays and started having afternoon teas instead, because I only work until 1.00pm. Do they think they are helping me by depriving me? If I was anorexic would they put a plate of food in front of me and say eat, I don't think so. From a person who has had a eating disorder all her life this does not help is just depressing and makes me more inclined to eat. Thanks for letting me vent.

Hi Cazablanka
What your supervisor did was insensitive and mean. To be devil's advocate, if you joke about your weight, perhaps she (and others) believe you really are okay with them joking about it. It might even be considered to be an affectionate joke if you usually get along well with her and others. Do you know her well enough to predict her reaction if you told her you were feeling hurt and embarrassed? If it was an affectionate joke she will feel sorry. If it was a hurtful and prejudiced jab, she will laugh more. The former is the only way I can imagine a joke like that - not very smart to say the least, but well intentioned: I find it difficult to think about a world where people can be deliberately cruel to others.

Congratulations on your 9kg by the way.

Caz- I'm with Suzy. I really hope she meant it as an affectionate joke, not a deliberate embarrassment. While I don't know her, I do always hope for the best. However, I don't think it was funny either way. Some people speak and act before they think. Good for you on the 9kg!!

As for me, I am staying the same on weight. I guess I can't complain too much on that. I would still like to be lighter, but for now I will try to be tolerant. Will be gone for about 10 days as it is our deer hunting season. I will be walking many miles outside in the next week so I hope to burn a lot of calories and get into shape! See you all in 2 weeks or so!

Weigh in report for week 46: I lost 2 pounds this week. My back's been sore, so I haven't exercised very much, but I've been eating better. Now, if I can just get better control over the beer.

Caz, there's teasing and there's meanness. The people that are mean (even if intentioned) make me think back to elementary school. It is so immature. I wish they'd grow up, and feel sad for them that they haven't.

Angie, what a great way to exercise, out enjoying nature. I must say, though, I hope the deer hide well.

Hi all. I have returned from the woods (Keith you will be happy to know that the deer hid well enough this year. No meat in the freezer this year). Wearing many layers of clothes, huge boots, and a very lovely shade of blaze orange while tromping several miles a day has left me down a couple pounds below my original goal weight. As I did not get to weigh in everyday, I seem to have forgotten where I left off last week. All I know is that the Thanksgiving holiday probably kept me from losing more. The good news is that I am now closer to quitting smoking as there were limited opportunities the last 9 days to light up. Add in a nasty head cold that is trying it's darnedest to work into my lungs and I'm staying far from the ciggies. Might just use this as my chance to quit. I will let you know in the coming days if that works for me or not. I have had very little success in the past so I'm a little apprehensive this time around. Until I get that "can-do-attitude" and believe in myself, it's a failure waiting to happen. I've done wonderful with cutting down, so now I just have to have faith that I can do it and stick to it. As for all the things that're going on around here...
Keith, I hope your report tomorrow brings you success like the last 2 weeks have.
Rosemary, Everyone has a bad week once in awhile, now rise above it and be strong.
Rolanda, glad you finished that circuit, and I'll be here waiting to see how your weigh in goes (fingers crossed, rubbing my lucky rabbit's foot).
Caz, Keep it up, you're doing great!
Suzy, I'll have you in my prayers on Friday.

As Always, Take Care, I Care!

Weigh in report for week 48, I've gained 5 pounds since my last weigh in 2 weeks ago. I missed weigh in last week because of traveling to visit family for Thanksgiving. What with that and friends visiting our house this past week, I haven't been being careful, but just enjoying the moment ... and then the next.

Angie, thanks for the well wishes ... I only wish they'd worked. Sorry you have no venison in your freezer, hope that wasn't my fault, but way to go on the weight. I'm also sorry to tell you 99.9% won't work for quitting smoking. Nothing short of 100% absolute determination will get the job done. But what wonderful rewards await if you can make it happen.

rosemary, that amazing vanishing kilo ... and you seem to be able to do it over and over.

Right on Rolanda and Caz. Nice to have some success in the group.

Hello everyone,

Have not popped in for a couple of weeks as I have been busy. I really did not think I would lose weight this week but I have. 2kg in two weeks and I am pretty happy about that. That makes it 15kg in total. Maybe soon it will be time to join a gym.

Weigh in report for week 49, it was a bad week. I gained 4 pounds. Apparently, I've really gotten into the holiday spirit(s).

Pink is my grandson's favorite color, so no problem. He's the one that's on the Parent's Page once in a while, face full of chocolate. Boy after my own heart.

Hi All. It's been a while since I posted on here. Managed to finally get a few minutes to myself so that I could update you. My weight has actually stayed the same through the holiday! I just have to get through one more Party on New Years and then I'll have achieved my goal of not gaining. I paired my horrible eating with lots of water (no soda) and parking very far away at the shopping centers (no choice). I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season, and I'll see you all on here in the new year!

Hi everyone! I know I was just on here a few days ago, but I wanted to update you all on my Quitting Smoking Plan. I have purchased the last round of ciggies and figure if I do it as planned, then I will be smoke free by about the end of January. Hoping for sooner, but optimistic regardless. Ciggies in Wisconsin will rise in price an additional 1.70 per pack as of Jan 1st. Bye-Bye Smokie Treats!

Weigh in for week 52, and end of the year report: I stayed the same as my last weigh in 3 weeks ago. For the year, I lost a total of 30 pounds ... and then gained back 21 of them, so that now, I weigh 9 pounds less than I did a year ago. For a year's time, that's not much progress, but, ever the optimist, I say it's better than going up 9 pounds. I fully intend to keep up the effort, and hope I can do better this year than last. Here's wishing the rest of you a better year as well.

Okay, I forgot to put in an end of the year report. I managed to finally, after 3 long years, met my goal weight of 155. I am now 160lbs or 72.5kgs. Need to lose an additional 15 lbs to reach my ultimate goal, but need to quit smoking worse. Like I said in my earlier report, smokes went up to nearly 5 bucks a pack. Who cares, right? It's like slowly committing suicide and hurting those around me in the process. I don't just "want" to do this, I "MUST" do this. I have quit in the past, twice. Both times were because I was pregnant and I stayed quit after #2 was born for the birth of #3 and the fall of my marriage. I only started again because of that. Now, I'm totally past that hurdle in my life, so why the heck am I still smoking? Because it's been easier to keep smoking than it will be to quit. I'm ready now for the challenge that awaits me.

Angie, I am quitting too. I am on my second day of not smoking. I decided to go the Nicorette gum route. Since it can be used to cut down now, I started just before Christmas and got down to four or five until my tobacco supply ran out. I have smoked outside only for years and don't have anybody around me that smokes, so I am hoping it won't bother me too much. I used ten pieces of gum yesterday.
