Of course, I don't really clean it that much, that's why it takes so long!

I cooked shepherd's pie last night. I thought I did a really good job, but the girls didn't like it at all! Oh well, more leftovers for me....

I haven't tried making shepherds pie yet. Now that there is only one left at home, maybe I'll try it.

I'm almost always here this early Stella - woke up at 5am today, about usual time. In about 30 minutes my day starts with getting the kids off to school...

Going to the bus stop is over for me. My youngest gets a ride to school with hubby. The bus was such a hassle and it's only a little bit out of hubby's way.

The only problem is that he has to stay after school and wait to get picked up. It's ok when he has band or sports, but the other days he does his homework and then waits. It's too far for me to make the trip. (too much gas also)

Right now, just doing laundry, trying to organize for the trip and looking at the pictures from Disney when we went with my husband's family in 2001. Some of those pictures are so cute!

The timing is all off for rides to school here. d1 doesn't want them anyway, she loves the social part of taking the bus! That even though the bus leaves more than an hour before school starts! There has only been a bus to the primary school for the last 2 years. Before that I had to deliver and pick up the girls each day. Would have been impossible if I had been working.

I don't think kids can really stay after school here. In primary school parents have 3 chances to be late and can then be reported to child protection authorities, though I'm assuming that's a last resort. High school is probably different, though the high school kids would walk to the mall and wait there.

I would like to do some laundry today - sheets, towels and blankets, but will have to wait until the sun comes up to see if it's going to be a nice enough day.

I know what you mean about too much gas. d2s school is only 5km away, but take that 10km round trip and multiply it by 5 days and then 2 for morning and afternoon and you have 100km (60 miles) a week.

The middle schools and high schools usually allow it. There are usually teachers around because something is usually going on, sports, activities, clubs. He's in 7th grade and the younger grades usually don't have as many sports. The other 3 went to school just up the road and I was always there, but it's a little hard with the school 25 miles away. I don't know as much as I would like to know regarding everything the kids do after school. Although, I'm sure if they were getting in trouble, the Brothers would let us know!

It's official - no laundry today. Big black clouds...

I'd like to take our kids back to Disneyland one day. Sooner rather than later too.

It was nice chatting with you Suzy! I don't usually find anyone around. I hope you have a great day and the sun shines for your sheets! Now I must get back to the old grind before the troops (hubby and son) get home. See you later!

d1s school has no after school sports, activities, clubs. They even lock the bathrooms during last period - sometimes a problem since d1 has 45 minutes to wait until her bus comes. I've told her there would be one open somewhere, she just has to ask where, but she calls me to come and get her instead!

I am sooo not here! Today is laundry day and the house just shook so that must mean the machine is ready to be fed again. Just like to have a sneak peek before the day really starts!
Bye for now, catch you later.

Hi all, haven't been here for a couple of days. Saturday I was making furniture up from Ikea for my son's bedroom. Sunday I was busy doing something but at the moment I am having a senior moment and can't remember what I did. Today (Monday) D#1 and I took our Jenday Conure to a parrot sanctuary (not happy about it), she was becoming unlivable with with her screeching. We had tried many remedies but to no avail. She will be happy there I'm sure. We took her round the sanctuary/avary and she actually wanted to get to the cage which housed her species (conures). The only had one of her sub species (Jenday)so hopefully she will make friends with it. We can go and see her anytime we like and phone for news of her.

Becky, that plane crash was a long way from here about 80 miles. I know 5 people lost their lives but it could have been so much worse. Only one house was demolished, fortunately the owners were away on holiday so there was no one in the house. I feel so sorry for them to have to come home to deal with this.

A line from a news article:

Their homes are being destructed by deforestation.

Who was it who mentioned the decay of the English language?

Hi Rolanda, Suzy, Gail, Brenda and anyone I've missed - you've probably all gone again by now. I just seem to flit in and out of these pages at the moment and can't explain why I am so busy - must be because hubby is home and under my feet - bless his little cotton socks, wouldn't have it any other way. Have a lovely day all.

Hi Dino,CynB, Rolanda, Suzy, Brenda, Gail and Stella and anyone from pevious pages who drops in.
Suzy you should have got your washing dry as it has been a lovely day.

The family who run the post office at the town where I grew up have been operating the post office for 100 years so there was a big morning tea there today to celebrate. Had a lovely time catching up. Saw people I grew up with and went to school with. It was a most enjoyable day.

Hi June, glad you had a nice day - isn't it great to catch up with people from your childhood, we did recently and it was lovely. One was a former neighbour who is now 90 but in the 50's she was just the lady across the road, my best friend's Mum and a friend of my Mum. I wouldn't have known her at first but after a while I realised that her mannerisms, the way she spoke and her eyes were unchanged. She was lovely and it was lovely seeing her again. And it was great reliving all those memories. She had been a nurse and delivered my brother at home in 1950 when he decided to make a speedy entrance.

Suzy, I don't know if you have kids saying 'it's well nice' it's well good' meaning very. That really irritates me. Yesterday on one of our tv soaps, Eastenders, one of the characters asked her work mate to 'borrow her 20 quid' when what she really wanted was for her workmate to 'Lend her £20' Trouble is I hear the same thing said in real life.
Being married to and having given birth to people who will try and correct punctuation on notices, especially the mis use of the apostrophy can be a bit of a chore.(Though I admit I always notice incorrect punctuation and can be an offender too)

Good morning all! Dreary day today with rain, but it is warm, 54*F!

What is worse is when the kids actually submit school work with the slang and the text speak in it. I wonder if it will get to the point where the next generation will know how to speak correctly or even spell!

My allegies have wiped me out and I don't feel like doing much today. I must get some of the kids' financial info out for their schools though. Hopefully, my brain will work!

Max was late getting out this morning because he couldn't find his music holder thing (can't remember the name of it, it goes on his arm while he is marching and holds the music) and hubby has a meeting this morning. He was not happy. Hopefully, he will find it at school because if it is in his room, the black hole, the chances of finding it are slim!

I forgot that today is April fool's day. I never understood the reasoning behind fooling people on this day.
