June, Thank you for your concern, but this is not an old microwave, about one year is all. it is the second one of this brand I have owned, and they seem to have a design flaw, they do not vent moisture well. Moisture inside the oven and the slightest scratch in the paint, they begin to rust. Daughter had one of the same brand and had same problem. We just did touch up painting after he sanded down the rust to bare metal, cover that spot to prevent more rust.
yes, microwaves are very inexpensive now, but at the moment just not in the budget for us. In the meantime, we repair instead of replace. Besides, this is one less appliance sent to the land fill.

Hi MizT: Thanks!! I don't know how they do it!!! That is a long time...considering this is my mom's 2nd marriage. She got divorced when I was 8 months old. My real dad is a jerk (mostly)...He was a raging alcoholic for most of my early life, he's been sober since I was 16, but hasn't been in my life in a very long time. My (step)dad raised me, he's my daddy!!! He is a fantastic person & I am very grateful to have him in my life.

Suzy, I actually like going to the mall. I don't always shop, but it is fun to "people watch" There are some strange people out there. Besides, I spent 25 years working in a mall so it is kind of in my blood. The malls I usually go to I have friends, former co-workers, that are there. This is the only time I ever see them.

Beasties are at a neighbors house. My neighbor has a giant inflatable water slide which they set up this morning. It is a last hurrah. It now has a hole in it, so today is the last day and then it is going in the garbage. Wish your parents a happy anniversary for me.

IH woke me up too early. He wants me to work on some problems with the hot fence. There are a LOT of shorts caused by that ice storm in January that still haven't been fixed. I figure one or two more hours won't matter.

Suzanne, last week was training. The campers start tomorrow. Our budget is non-existent. I am trying to come up with cheap craft ideas. I am going to ask the big boss if I can put up a "wish list" of things for the parents. Crayola has a lot of ideas on their website. I am going to try to use them. One of them uses cardboard boxes cut into flowers. You draw a flower, cut it out, and then peel the layers of cardboard of the petals, not the center. You then color the layers and stick in a green pipe cleaner. A great way to reuse an item. I have 3 other counselors with me. They are all young, 22, 18, and 17, but all are really nice. It should be a good summer.

Suzanne, that desert is a no bake, easy one. There are many variations, I am sending the lemon one. Thought I would put it here in case others might want to try also. Not sure if the Aussies have sugar free Jello, graham cracker pie crusts, or cool whip, though. I think we talked about this before.
This makes 8 servings. It will keep for 4 days for us to enjoy.
You need one box of 4 serving sugar free lemon Jello. 2 small (6 oz or there about) containers of low fat lemon chiffon yogurt, One reduced fat graham pie crust, and 1/2 container of fat free whipped topping, Cool whip or generic.
Heat 1/4 cup of water to boiling in a one quart or larger microwave safe bowl. Stir in the box of Jello. Stir and stir till it is all dissolved. If it will not dissolve, put back in microwave for 30 seconds or so. Repeat if necessary to get it all dissolved.
Add the 2 containers of yogurt, and blend well, a whisk is good for this. Blend in the cool whip, Pour into the pie crust and refrigerate for 2 hours or more, till firm.
This was a weight watchers recipe that was handed down to me. Al loves it. You can make any flavor you can find Jello and Yogurt in same flavor. Lemon is my favorite, lemon/lime is what I make when I have lemon yogurt and lime jello hehe. Lime is good when I can find low fat or fat free, sugar free, Key Lime yogurt. (I have to watch the sugar, Al has to watch the fat)
I have a BIL who has made strawberry, Mixed berry, peach and I am not sure what else. You can garnish those with fruit if you like, he said they were yummy.

Tami, have you seen the caterpillars that are made from egg cartons? the egg cups are the segments of the bug, you add eyes and feelers on the head.

I liked the butterfly window hanging/sun catcher made of shaved bits of old, broken crayons, wax paper and an iron. My kids loved doing the wax paper and crayon crafts way back when. they used the iron at a young age, with supervision. the rule was, put the non dominant hand behind their back and keep it there while ironing. Never had anyone get burned!

Good morning to my down under friends.
MizTricia, I will check out those sites you posted.
I went shopping again today and am much happier. Yesterday I bought 2 pairs of shorts and spent $38. Today I went to Sawgrass Mills Mall. I bought 3 pairs of shorts and spent $22. I returned the shorts I bought yesterday. Saved $16 and got an extra pair of shorts.
