TAMI, remind me to take you shopping with me if I need to buy clothes. That is a great price for 3 pair of shorts. I am glad you went again today.
Well, we had some not so fun here today. Another of Heidi's T storms took the southern route. I was just finishing cooking soup for lunch when I looked up to see it was raining. Sky to the west was very dark and I heard thunder in the distance. I came to the computer to look at my favorite weather site, saw a nasty line of t-storms headed our way. I clicked a button to see if there were any severe weather notices, yep, severe t-storms for the county just above us. About that time, this horrendous gust of wind hit, and the lights flickered a couple of times and went out. We were hammered with the strongest straight line winds I have ever experienced. I have hanging baskets in my bedroom, at the window, and my mobile home was rocking so much the pots were swaying and hitting the window!
I thought about bailing out and making a run to the dome, but the wind was soo strong I would have been drenched and blown off my feet, so just stayed and prayed this thing did not tip over off it's foundation. It is obviously well anchored, the installers did a very good job. Of course we were sitting broadside to the wind, and an 80 foot wall is a lot to push against.
I go to the back door and I see Al in the door of the dome, looking my way. he is motioning and saying something, but I cannot hear him. Funny he could hear me, but wind was blowing his words away from me. He was pointing to something at the end of our mobile, opposite end from where I had been here in the bedroom/ I asked him if there was damage to the house that end. He nodded NO but kept pointing. I went to look our front and a really tall tree had fallen at the end of our house. I had always feared that tree would fall and fall into our house, but luckily it fell into open spaces just past our house, whew, glad the wind was blowing just the direction it was!
The underpinning along the front of the house was blown in and under the house. plants in my containers on the front porch are all now lying down, pointing away from the way the wind had blown.
We were without power for over 4 hours, I knew it was bad, lots of people without power when I phoned the power company and was told there would be a greater than 10 minute wait for someone to answer my call. They hoped to get power restored by 4 pm, it came back on at 3:45, they had a whole 15 minutes to spare hehehe.
Well, that is the excitement for today, hope for the month! I do not need more of this kind of weather coming up so fast I cannot get to the safety of the dome!

MizT: We've had t-storms on & off for the last week. Darrell & I went to a mall in SLC on Thursday last week. We saw the sun disappear and all of a sudden KABOOM!!!! 45 minutes of downpouring rain, thunder, lightning, hail!!! When we went to lunch (after the storm stopped) we walked across the parking lot and you wouldn't know it rained an hour or so beforehand!! Glad you stayed safe & got power back on!! I HATE when it goes out (almost a monthly occurance here!!)

MizTricia, glad you are ok. We get a lot of thunderstorms in south Florida so I completely understand. Our typical summer is sunny in the morning and storms in the afternoon. It is fun trying to keep 40 kids amused when they are stuck inside.

MizTricia, I checked the websites you suggested. They have some great ideas. I will look at them some more this week. I will give the sites to my arts & crafts counselor. There are 4 of us and I assigned each person a different responsibility. I am the boss so I am in charge of everything. My one male counselor is in charge of outdoor games so we don't play kickball every day. One counselor is in charge of arts & crafts and indoor games. The last counselor is my party planner. We are not allowed to collect money, but we can put up a sign up list and everybody bring something.

Oh MizT - that was scary! So lucky the tree fell where it did.
Good morning lovely people - since I've been so remiss lately and I have a hair appointment to keep soon, just thought I'd say Hello now and I'll be back later.
Hi Suzanne, Tami, Heidi, Nola, Brenda etc etc etc!

Good morning everyone.
Suzanne, I know that "can't be bothered" feeling - I find a tub of yoghurt is a good, quick starter. By the time I've finished it I'm usually in the mood for something more substantial. Or I just throw in some frozen berries, a few nuts, and sometimes crumble aVita Brit into it. (Vita Brits = whole wheat breakfast bars) A bit high in sugar,(the yoghurt) but tasty and filling and reasonably healthy.

I also get nights when I don't want to cook. Unfortunately I usually have to anyways. I have two growing boys. I try to keep something in the freezer that is easy to make. If all else fails, spaghetti is a sure bet.

MizT... I hope that's it for at least a year. You were SO lucky with that tree. We've got a storm moving in now. Dennis just got some tranquilizers, so we'll see how they work. Fortunately, I won't have to hear IH complain loudly about the dogs keeping him awake. He's out of town for the night.

Tami, a lot depends on how fussy your kids are. When my son was little he had some quite bizarre food requirements - any meat we cooked for him had to dried on a paper towel so there was NO juice on it! Etc. If I made spaghetti bolognaise I had to have a seperate pot for him, with no tomato, no veg of any kind, just the meat and a bit of soy sauce. One day I sat him down and discussed things - told him exactly what went into my meat sauce. A lot were things he already ate bits of in other things - "Will you try it?" Okay. I had to leave out a lot of stuff at first, but it's amazing how many things are "herbs" when they're cut up fine enough! ;)

But I do have to take the trash down to the road. They pick it up early in the morning. The driveway is an eighth of a mile, and the trash can is big (96 gal.) and full of old catalogs, so it can't be lifted. I will have to wheel it down the driveway on foot after the storm has passed.

As I said, Tami... it's on wheels. And the driveway is paved and smooth. But according to the radar, it'll be a few hours before that front passes us. It's just entering the far edge of the county now, about a half hour drive away.

Hello, All!
Happy Anniversary to your parents, Suzanne!
Brenda, I hope your hubby's trip to Dublin is enjoyable, even though I assume it's work.
Heidi, I'm sorry hubby insisted you get up to work on the fence. Maybe it was a teeny bit cooler than if you got up later to work on it. I hope you enjoyed your nap.
CynB, continued improving health to your Mum and MIL.
Nola, I hope your day at krow goes smoothly.
Tami, you're quite the shopper.
MizT, I think I must try your recipe.
CRAFTs has robbed me of any other comments.

Suzy, yes, I am stopped shaking. I did not see or hear the tree go down, or it would have been worse for me. I was a bit uneasy being in the house instead of out in the dome, but this one snuck (sneaked?) up on me unannounced. I did not have TV on here. Al did have it on in dome but no mention of a damaging storm front coming .
One more week for Suzy, hope this is the easiest week of all.
Now Heidi, how are you going to push that trash bin down the drive and hold a flashlight also? You must see where you are going you know.
I am going to see if I can give away firewood tomorrow. Of course they will have to come cut it up hehehe, but there are men who sell firewood in the winter will do that for oak and hickory and this is a healthy oak on the ground.

JULIE, I can tell you just how good the recipe was, that was our desert tonight and it was yummy. It is both low calorie, low fat and delish. After my hubby had open heart surgery 7 years ago, I told him if he would stay on his meal plan all day, I would have him a dessert every night. He has stayed on it, and I happily make low fat, low sugar desserts for him. Sometimes it is just sugar free pudding from a mix, or sugar free Jello with fruit, but he is happy as long as there is dessert. .
