it has taken so long to catch up it is almost too late to say 'morning'...top of the day to you all....
Liz I have never seen a pav shop that could match Gails handiwork...I'll keep looking...

Suzi...this post of Vici's sums up my thoughts and worthy of repeating...
"PMSL, Screwy Suzy! re: leaving welcomes to new members with your SA name - hehehe - don't want to frighten them from posting!"
Good avatar...I need to get a dog one. A few people confessed to preferring dogs to some/most/all people...hehe..I can identify with that sentiment. I could not live without a dog.

Hi Rola.....won't you have a lovely day....we are expecting your heat wave on Sat...you didn't have to share you know...

Enjoy the film Cyn..it is on my list

Gail, why don't you use the PC 'partner' for your pseudo DIL? Could you it be that you are as annoyed as I am when someone calls hubby my partner instead of my husband? Wouldn't want to offend the people who choose not to marry, so lets offend the people who do instead??

Well Tom is very settled and MIL is missing him terribly and wondering when I will bring him back!! How long will I make her suffer? She worried herself sick yesterday when Tom took himself for a walk...nothing he likes better than getting out without the person holding the leash!!
A very kind dog lover rang us and said she would take Tom home with her dog until P [hubby] arrived to pick him up.

She lives in Royal Parade. Tom being the devil that he is managed to slip out and went running straight across Royal Parade paying NO attention to the traffic. RP is a huge road with 2 median strips planted with elms, 4 lanes of parked cars, 2 tram tracks and 4-6 lanes of traffic depending on the parking ....This poor women then went tearing off after him and when P got there Tom was ready to go finish his adventure....MIL has no idea who left her side gate open. She is too unstable on her feet to get out and close it. We need to get some sort of automatic closer like on pool gates for it...more shopping....not the same as retail therapy!!

I was just pleasantly surprised. I stopped by for a minute to say hello and find out my first avatar was approved. It is my dog Rachel, the only other female in my house. We treat her like a princess.

I must say...
I never typed any homework for the boys.
Helped with homework as far as pointing them in the right directions.
They had to do it themselves!!

My typing has been limited to 10pm the night before something is due. That's only happened a couple of times. Probably because I leave spelling and grammatical mistakes in!

Rachel has the body of a dachshaund and the head and face of a chihauhau. She was adopted from the local shelter after hurricane Katrina destroyed New Orleans. They brought a lot of dogs down here for adoption. She was a little aggresive when we first got her but she has mellowed out in the last 3 years and is now a really sweet dog. Our other dog, a yorkie was 15 when we brought Rachel home. He died of old age 4 months later. He went to sleep one night and did not get up the next day. Rachel was guarding him the next day when we woke up. We new Beau's time was almost over. We had talked to the vet that day about putting him to sleep and had decided to bring him on Friday. Beau must have heard and knew it was ok to leave and went peacefully that night on his own.

Mitchell would take three hours to type one paragraph. He will be 12 in December. He has a program to increase his typing skills. He will be using it this winter break. Until then, I type what he writes and he has to proofread it.

LOL RolaDahlia! If you like dogs, cat lovers will be after you, if you like cats, it's the dog lovers. If you like neither - watch out!

Hey Suzy, Hubby and the business partner, always have 3 weeks off at Christmas, the last couple of years also taken the 3 public holidays as well.
These holiday coming however, when they were working out the dates, it worked out they would be back at work on a Monday, they decided that Monday wasnt a good day to start work, so they added a few more days. Looks like they will have 4 weeks off !!!

I worked in retail for almost 25 years before I became a teacher. I was always the last one out of the store on Christmas Eve. It is wonderful to have 2 weeks off for the holidays and to not have to work the day after Thanksgiving. For those of you down under, the day after Thanksgiving is considered the start of the holiday shopping season and is usually the busiest day of sales for the year.

I might as well feed the dogs while waiting for the pizza. A couple of them get into mischief if they get hungry.

Tami, I always think about the C after Hubby's birthday, which is next Sunday.
All being well, MIL will move to her retirement home mid Nov,( the weekend before Rena gets here- fingers crossed). MIL got an offer on her house over the weekend.
Once the under offer becomes sold (the new owners have 3 weeks to have the offer become unconditional) MIL will move..

Sigh!!!

#2 son ran into the back of another car this morning, (just was told about it) on his way to Uni, around 7.45ish.
Apparantly little damage to both vehicles, car is driveable, boy is ok, and he is at Uni now.

RolaDahlia, I hope everything works out. Years ago I ran my car into the back of another car. Not much damage and no one was hurt. I picked my mom up and we went to visit my dad at his office. My mom knew that he would not yell at me in front of his co-workers. If I told him at home he might have gotten mad. This way, by the time he came home he had a chance to cool off.

Have you got your pizza yet HH ?
I must think about lunch shortly, just finishing
pushing the hot thing around.

mmm, lets hope I am cool when he gets home..
Mr Impatient, running late, peak hour traffic, he was in the slow moving lane, the right hand lane moving a tad faster, he thought mmmm I think I will change lanes.
So looking over his shoulder to see if he could change lanes, meanwhile car in front stopped..
good thing it was slow moving traffic..
and why he was going the way he was going ??, or why he should want to change lanes in the first place as he would have to turn left fairly soon?

On the topic of having a real chrissie tree.
I got a Norfolk Island Pine and had the great idea of putting it in a pot and bringing it in every year.
This worked for a couple of years but then it got too big!! So put it in the ground outside.
Mama Mia! What a huge tree it turned out to be.
Hubby has cut the height in half a few times now and it just sprouts new bits.
So now I just throw some tinsel on it at chrissie time.
We have an artificial one inside but it is not the same.

RolaDahlia, in that past they have insisted that someone be in to cover the phones. They've changed that to someone answer a phone at home if it is critical! 4 weeks would be extra special! The whole office closes down so the boss from hell doesn't get to over-ride - which he would if he could!

Neighbours across the road had a Bookleaf Pine Tree and they pruned it.
We mulched it and spread it on our garden.
The aroma wafting through the house was wonderful.Wonder if it needs cutting again?

Hi VV1. I am not looking forward to the day when beastie boy #1 is old enough to drive. He is almost 12 and already asking about it. He can get his learner's permit at 15, IF I let him.
