I am DEFINITELY sleeping in tomorrow.
I wanted to go for that TOPP,
and the bloody phone rang. An old friend who had to vent about all her problems, most of which are self inflicted.

hi
have to tell you all took my darling Sammy to see dr Ian, and he is very happy with him, he is doing great, although must say the heat yesterday effected him a lot, thats a worry for the upcoming heat of summer...
and the new addition fell through, probably a good thing though, as when Sammy does leave, I want to see how I go with just 1

Suzy, somebody gave you the wrong info re using conditioner and a nit comb to treat lice and nits. Conditioner only stuns lice for 20 minutes, so once dry hair is thoroughly coated in cond, you start combing immediately. The Australian expert, Prof Rick Speare, has info sheets at http://www.jcu.edu.au/school/phtm/PHTM/hlice/hlinfo1.htm I used to use this method and found it very effective, and much cheaper than chemical treatments. The only thing I did differently is that if I found lice or nits, I couldn't wait the recommended one week wait for a 2nd application, but would repeat it next day. You can use $2 conditioner, and white is best.

Ruby, you made me laugh. You asked me where are the pictures of me and my family, so I went to your page to reply, and all I found were dog photos!!!!! So, now I have to ask you the same question! For the record though, I don't want pictures of me and my family on the site for a number of reasons, but mostly for the same reason that I don't want my specific location known. It'd be different if I lived in a large city.

I'm back! What was I thinking! I always try to do more than one thing if I have to drive into town - saves fuel, time etc etc. But today is Thursday. I KNOW not to go near town on a Thursday!! People nearly getting hit by cars, parking miles away from the shops, playing dodgems on the aisles.... To make things worse, today I followed around a screaming/squealing/ear bustingly loud child whose mother didn't seem to think it was a problem.... Need coffee! And wish I'd bought some chocolate....

Viv, I agree that your son's treatment was very unfair, and I'm almost certain, illegal, especially being a minor. I would also be doing all I could to help him. To hell with the consequences. They might stop giving him shifts, and probably will, but if you don't do something, they will keep doing the same thing. Nobody needs to work for an ass, unless they need the job to put food on the table. Where we live, part time jobs are easy to get. Maccas staff were yesterday handing out flyers to recruit students across the road from our high school yesterday.

Tami, I read about that shooting this morning. I am so sorry that you have a link to it, no matter how slight. Sending hugs..{{{{{{Tami}}}}}}
There did seem to be an almost bright side to the story in that the girl who shot her friend seems to be sorry that it happened. That is more than some can say...

Well, you need to pass on that website to the school! You also don't need to treat hats, pillows or anything else. I can't remember the figures, but many children were examined in one of the studies, thousands of lice and nits were found, but not a single one anywhere other than on heads.

Viv, my uni son used to be a casual driver for a pizza delivery chain. He had set shifts, but would often get called in, sometimes with less than an hour notice, to replace someone, and went in as asked every single time. He also worked all the nights young men don't want to e.g. Xmas Eve, New Years Eve, Easter Saturday, plus the nights of local events. He never once complained or refused. Twice in a month, after he'd been working there about 7 months, he called the manager to ask to be relieved of a shift, giving 2 days notice both times. During the second call, the manager said she would have to report him to the owner for being unreliable. I suggested he throw in the job. He did. The manager now has to do a lot of the deliveries herself. Best thing. This was in spite of the fact that he'd never had a complaint about his work either there, or at his previous 2 part time jobs. Some bosses just don't deserve to find staff.

Yes, Suzy, and if it wasn't chocolate, I'd complain! hehe It's good to see that Woolies is going to introduce unit pricing though, which will make comparing prices much easier.

The stories here about seeing parents illtreating their children are heartbreaking. I see it all the time myself, too. I often think that the children should be taken from them, then I read the paper about foster carers abusing children. I know compulsory sterilisation could never be considered, but, some people need and deserve it.

True, Suzy, but it'd be OK if sizes were standard like multiples of 125g / L, but when the same product comes in 110/255/480 and 725 sizes, it's a pain. I actually have a converter put out by Choice magazine years ago. Actually I might see if Mr Google has one.

Back when i was an engineer I went to a packaging course. At that time there were very strict regulations about the sizes of packaging eg shampoo could only be sold in 375ml, 500ml and 750ml sizes (or something like that) so that clever packaging designers couldn't use funny shapes to make their packages look deceptively bigger. When I came home that had obviously been changed...
