Good morning.
Suzy if you can get some white tape or ribbon about 3-5 cms wide and make a barrier about 1 meter high you will probably find the lawn mowers will stay behind it. Some of the $2 shops have craft ribbon for about $5 and about 100 yards(91 meters long). You will look like a police scene!!!

When it gets really cold, I put whatever I'm going to wear into the dryer for a few minutes to warm it up. Big carbon footprint! When I read about all the other women on the site hanging out wash, I almost feel guilty. Almost.

How did I fluke that. I read to post 15870 and started to asnwer others news! I guess Ruby and Nola were chatting!
I have a pile of ironing which I sometimes tackle but that just makes a dent. I have a Braun (German make) iron. I like one with a shot of steam.

Hi, June. You know how to keep the horse out, don't you? I remember your picture of Boy and Laura.
Nola, do you have animals in your house? Maybe a roo or two in the den? I can't think of your word for "den," but I know a bathroom is an "ensuit."

Hi Nola and Ruby,
Woke early but did get 6 hours good sleep. Have a bit going on in our life and tension gives me hives so I am a bit itchy. Will take something later. Ruby, I like to pop towls in the drier to warm before I have a shower in the winter. The drier is 34 years old and does not get used much.

Vici, glad you had a wonderful trip to SF. Did you take the Video clip on a digital camera? Sometimes they can be harder to 'find' and download. Do hope you still have it.

OK, I vote to let the season of C begin. We have some very eager little girls here who want to get ready for Santa. Anyone object? It has turned cold here in Alabama, I can think about Christmas now.

Hope we do not leave out our friends who do not celebrate Christmas. With greatest respect to all, would anyone be upset if I wish my usual greeting of Merry C . . . to all my friends, and you may greet me with whatever greeting you use?

Morning all!

Good news about the drug MizT - I think. You need the drug, you need sleep.... hmmmm.

I like christmas so I'm fine with using the word, though I am soooooo not even begun to be organised!

Speaking of which, has anyone checked out the price of hams? I read they were going to be too expensive to buy this year but forgot to check what 'too expensive' meant when I went shopping.

Den = study/office????

Nola, my mother is looking after my brother's 3 small dogs and has been all year while they travel around Oz. They were up your way at one point! The last few times I've spoken to her the dogs have gone nuts over a shadow or something and Mum has said she will be glad when they're gone...

Nola, we have plenty of kangaroos around now that we have new 'across the road' neighbours - and no more gun shots at odd hours!! I didn't see a kangaroo while the old neighbours lived there....

June, whenever I get itchy I miss a lotion I used to buy in the US. The Aussie version doesn't seem to work as well AND it has menthol added. Yuck!

Hi Suzy, sorry I have not checked out the ham prices. We generally get one at a discount and if the family come from Melbourne I will get a reasonable sized 1/2.
I bought a boned knob the other day at $12 per kilo which is pretty normal for one of those.

Hi June, my mother's favourite part of xmas is the ham. She eats it for breakfast, lunch and dinner until it is gone! She will be staying with us again this year so I think we will buy one regardless of the price, but it is good news that they don't appear to be more expensive. The news story may have been all hype - surprise, surprise!

How did you fare in the storm Broni?
And yes we are trying hard to reach 400. I am going to bowls today so will probably miss the race to see who gets the 1600/1601.
Or maybe Tricia could be tricky and go to SA7 just before we get there.

Hi June, Cyn and I are OK, Vicki copped a bit and think she may still be without power but no major damage. Not sure about K as she is OS but the storm would have been close to her house.
Will probably miss page 400 too so will probably catch you on SA7.
Off to get ready to see what D&D have done.
Catch y'all later.

I heard from our niece! They are doing well thank goodness... To quote:

"We have had a lot of smoke and ash from the fires but with the beach so close it helps to keep it blown out some, at least it is not us having to deal with the fire direct."

Suzy, I have missed reading pages, are you speaking of the fires In California? I am so glad you heard from your niece and all is well for her at the moment.

My daughter is near there, but safe now. She said the fires were very close to her uncle's business. A good friend of d2 had been away to a prop 8 match, and could not get an answer to phone calls to her home. Friend was driving home not knowing what she would find, and talking to my daughter in hopes she had heard news. As we talked, she heard of another neighborhood (where she had been to dinner at friends just last week) where 50 houses had just gone up in flames. She has not heard from these friends yet. Although she has been through California fires before, she said it was harder when you know people directly affected.

I cannot even read the news or watch TV, not no win my sleep deprived condition. My heart out to all who have lost so much in the fires and those in the storms in Oz.

I just got home from the show. My bull's sister won Grand Champion female!!!! The guy I bought him from (who won today) will be stopping at my place tomorrow morning to see the bull and his calves that we just weaned. Then he's heading down to Huntsville, Alabama where they're holding a big Red Angus auction this weekend. It'll be on the internet. I plan on buying a couple of girls over the phone while watching the live auction.

Ahhh, shucks Heidi, when I saw cattle show and Huntsville Alabama, was thinking you would be that close to me. Alabama grows some nice beef, and some near me, as in close enough when the wind is right and they are in the near pasture, we can hear them.

June, I hope bowls is full of friends and companionship!

MizT, I have in-laws living in Orange County and although they are not directly impacted by the fire, one set is having trouble with air quality and freeway closures. My niece has MS so I was particularly worried about her (she is a tad older than I am) but her response implies all is well!

The only people I know who live in the storm areas of Queensland and on here. It was a relief to hear from them!

The cattle I'm bidding on are actually from Iowa. There are 4 different consignors to the sale, and I guess Huntsville was the most convenient place for all.
