Wow, Heidi! Replacing that rope sounds tricky and dangerous. I'm glad you called someone to be there while you were working on it
Heidi, are they likely to accept you for jury duty if you let them know you're sick? The possibility of jury duty explains your push to get projects completed! In spite of your careful preparations, I kind of hope you don't get put on a jury. It would be kind of nice if you could relax a bit!
DOrA, I'm sorry to hear that a tick found your hound, but glad he's laid back enough to not be offended by the efforts to remove the tick!
CynB, I'm so sorry to hear how awful Col's treatments have become! It's no wonder that he has come to a decision in case there's ever a need for another set of treatments. Sending LOTS of healing energy and prayers that he never needs to be faced with that decision again! Sending warm and gentle {{{HUGS}}}} for both of you!
CynB, it might be worth following up on Heidi's suggestion. Perhaps the amount of toxic drugs can safely be reduced a bit.
It's so good to see you here again, Rolanda, especially when you can bring us such a positive health update! I hope the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program helps strengthen your muscles and gives you peace of mind that you are doing all you can! Keep up the good work and enjoy the upcoming holidays in good health!
Thinking of everyone and sending healing energy, positive thoughts, prayers,

I'm not going to let them know I'm sick. It's not contagious, and sitting in a jury will actually be easy on me. My only problem will be my protein drinks. I have to drink a lot of fluids, and no drinks are allowed in the courtroom. But the odds are that I won't be selected for a jury. The first time I got called for jury duty I was selected for an open-and-shut murder trial. The second time I got called for jury duty I showed up, and one minute before jury selection started, the accused changed his plea to guilty so there was no trial. This will be the third time.

I am so sorry Cyn you are having such a worrying time with Col. If he is having the big guns now, he has a great chance of full remission. If I had been asked if I would do it again when I was having chemo, I would have said never too - but now....yes.
Good luck with the jury Heidi - hope you get an interesting case but not a long one.
Great to see you bare doing well Rolanda.
Love the Einstein quote Julie - hope all is well with you.
My court case against 2 local Drs. is over, we settled at mediation - now to get on with my life. I won't forget what happened as I have to cope with it every day but I am so glad that finally responsibility has been recognised.
Best wishes to everyone, cheers for now.

Heidi, thank you so much for the birthday greeting! (I'm getting too old to celebrate, though.
)
Midge, I'm glad your court case has finally been settled. I know it has been a long time coming. Even though it's not a very fulfilling outcome, at least, as you say, responsibility has been acknowledged. I hope it will give you some peace of mind! {{{HUGS}}}

I decided to turn Phaeton back out with the female alpacas one last time, to see if we could get some breedings. I didn't see him doing any breeding last time. Within 2 minutes this time, he bred one of the girls!!! I'll give him 3 days with them, then seperate them until the Spring.

Had a great meal with friends, but I ate too much. I'll have to stick to protein shakes only for the next 2 days.
One nice thing.... I chose an outfit to wear that I bought last year. It's got a jewel tone full length skirt, matching quilted jacket and purple top. It was chilly out so the quilted jacket was necessary. I tried it on last night and the skirt was so loose that it fell over my hips and to the floor! I had to take in the skirt by 7 inches / 17.78 cm!!!! The shirt and top were very loose, but wearable. I got a LOT of compliments on it.

I had a horrible shock today. I don't have many family members that I love, much less speak to. My favorite, and the only one I would visit, was my Aunt Bonnie. She taught me to ride when I was 2 1/2 years old. She encouraged my love of animals. She taught me to draw. And she was always there for me. She developed MS nearly 50 years ago, and has fought it bravely. She also had Lupus. Over the years her physical condition deteriorated, but never her love of life. For the past 3 years she's been pretty much confined to a wheelchair. Yesterday she attended Thanksgiving dinner with other family members, and had a really good time. Everybody commented that she was looking healthier than she has in a while. She went to bed last night feeling pretty good and never woke up. I couldn't have wished a more peaceful passing for her, bit I am REALLY going to miss her.

In 14 hours I leave the house to report in for jury duty. The drive in should be interesting. We're due for a night of freezing rain and snow, and the roads may be pretty icy when I leave. I'm allowing 45 minues for what should be a 15 minute drive.

Hi, Everyone! I hope Everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable weekend! I also hope the weather wherever you are is relatively mild for the time of year, and hope there are no threatening fires. Having just read Heidi's post, I know she's expecting freezing rain and snow, which is what we're dealing with in the Chicago suburbs.
Please drive safely, Heidi! I hope you won't be chosen for a jury and can head for home before it gets dark, which makes icy roads even more dangerous.
CynB, I hope your family gathering was fun for everyone!
I have been practicing cello diligently. My teacher has scheduled the winter recital and holiday party for Dec. 14, so I have less than 2 weeks to try to get things playable/presentable/recital-worthy. Unfortunately, they sounded worse today than the last couple of days.

I lucked out. The weather wasn't as bad as predicted... just very cold rain at a temp. of 33˚F, so no ice except possibly on bridges. I have 2 hours to care for animals and play on the 'pooter before leaving.

I'm back home. We had orientation, then they selected the 25 people to serve on Grand Juries for the year. They meet once a month. I wasn't selected. So I'm on call for every jury case to be held over the next year. The first case is scheduled for mid-January.

Hooray for slightly warmer temperature, Heidi! I'm glad you didn't need to deal with freezing rain/snow for your drive to and from today.
To be on call for every jury case that comes in 2020 seems like a pretty big commitment. If you're chosen for a jury, can they call you again later in the year for another jury trial? Since I live in Cook County, IL, that would be a HUGE commitment. I hope there aren't a lot of jury trials in your county, Heidi!
Our weather wasn't as bad as predicted either. We had rain, which turned to some snow, but the sun was out for a while this morning, helping to warm up the paved areas and air, at least enough for most of the snow to melt, so it wasn't horrible.
Thinking of everyone and sending {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, prayers, healing energy,

No, there aren't a lot of jury trials here. Last year there were none. The year before, just 2, including the one where the mayor was thrown in prison for corruption. Most are settled in mediation before the trial starts. And once you've served, you're done for several years.

Heidi, that's quite reassuring! I was worried that you might be called on to serve on a multitude of juries over the course of a year. What a relief! I'll cross my fingers that there won't be any in 2020.
I hope everyone is having a good week, and hope the threat of fires is greatly reduced for our Australian friends!

Hope you have a lovely day with your friends Heidi - it seems like you are always working and a break will be good for the soul.
Good to see you are still playing the cello Julie - wish I could hear you play - I love the sound.
Looks like I will be in hospital for Xmas (3rd time). Found out last Mon.the poly-keratosis on my leg (haha - another wrong diagnosis) is actually aggressive skin cancer and is cat. 1 and to be removed before Xmas. At least a week in hospital and skin graft. Will find out next Wed. when I go in. So looking forward to this ....

Well, it's a day of good news and less than good news.
Heidi, enjoy the time with your friends, even if you don't really enjoy the group in concert!
Midge, not another misdiagnosis! You would think the law of averages would prevent this happening. Here's hoping the cancer on your leg can be fully removed, the skin graft takes, and your time in the hospital goes swiftly. So much for holiday preparations. At least you won't need to prepare a family meal for Christmas. Here's hoping there will not be another wrong diagnosis! Wishing you the very best outcome from the surgery and an easy and quick recovery!
I admit to being relieved. My cello teacher had initially wanted me to play a piece next week on the recital that hasn't been going particularly well in practice. Then she suggested also playing a Christmas carol. We decided on The Wexford Carol (an Irish Christmas carol, I think). So I've been working diligently on both. Due to Thanksgiving last week, I didn't have a lesson. At my lesson this week, there was no mention made of the piece she had originally proposed for me to play, and we only worked on The Wexford Carol. I wasn't about to bring up the other piece, which I'm not very fond of. So my assumption is that I will only need to play The Wexford Carol. Though I would rather not play anything, I'm relieved if I only need to play it.
We have lots of preparations to be done for the coming holiday. I'm not sure when everything will get done, but hubby and I are trying our best.
Thinking of everyone and sending lots of healing energy, prayers, warm and positive thoughts, {{{{{HUGS}}}}}, and
to each of you!
