Broni and Viv, take care of yourselves. No heavy lifting, etc.
Heidi, Heidi, Heidi, enough of the excuses and not having time to go to the doc. Put off one thing that will wait (like laundry, dishes and, yes, that never ending duty of cooking) and get your behind there and get yourself better.
Bean, when's your appointment? If you haven't made it, why not young lady?
That's all the nagging I'll do for now.

When we get junk mail, before I put it into the recycling bin, I call the toll free numbers on it and ask them to quit sending it. You'd be surprised how many companies are nice about it. Saves them money in the long run, I guess.

Zusi darlin...I have so many body issues to attend to .... I'm NOT ignoring all the naggers but am attending to the matters that are most likely to kill me off first. The little items that involve that missing piece of paper are ranking pretty low on the list....
One piece of good news is the high count of my good cholesterol balances out the slightly high count of my low cholesterol = a normalish reading and have been told by the doctor to just keep doing what ever I'm doing cause its working!!!! [He threatened me with Statins - yucky medications - the last time my cholesterol was checked]

I'm back again - which means I'm not tutoring! My student decided that a school dance would be more fun. Go figure!
Ebob is not going to the school dance and is reorganising her room instead. She didn't want to go this time so I didn't have to tell her that almost failing a math test made the idea a bit of a problem for me...

Do you make many things Becky?
I'm often kept awake drawing and designing things...can't help myself at times...one minute I am in bed thinking and dreaming and the next I'm up with the tape measure checking things out. I'm quite HOPELESS!!!

Bean - good news about your cholesterol. I am avoiding the statins by not getting the latest test done! I test a little bit high, 6 point something last time, and my father died at 37 of a heart attack, so the meds are always a threat!
I hoped you were quietly taking care of things and I really, truly appreciate you letting me know that I shouldn't worry too much. Though I don't think that bit of paper thing is that little. (Couldn't resist a little bit of a nag - it's the mother in me)

I have been taught the skill of self hypnosis and I have found it is possible to shut the brain down....has taken me nearly 50 years to finally learn this tho!!! It is a form I suppose of very deep relaxation and meditation... I thoroughly recommend it.

Not much anymore. I can't find the size that I want. The ones in the stores are either too tall or not wide enough. So decided that the only way I'll be happy, is to make one.

Becky, that's one heck of a phase! I don't know if I'd survive it! What materials will you use for your bookcase?
Good idea with the junk mail. I don't remind the Aussies that a little sign on their mail box will stop a lot of it because that would be unethical of me!

My dad had a ruptured Aortic aneurysm [runs in the family] and died at 65...I would like to outlive him... and so the cholesterol was a very big issue for me.... it took me 2 years to get back for another test after the 6.something reading that prompted the threat!!!
I had a CT scan and I didn't have any signs of weakness then but I'm not too sure how often I will need to have them done if I keep my blood pressure and cholesterol down..not too mention my weight!!!!! Aargh.......... Do not start there!!

Hi Suzy. Been debating. Was thinking that if I use partical board or plywood, it could be laminated. Hardwoods are too expensive right now, so am looking at cheaper lumber.

I would love to learn wood turning and furniture making... most of the things I've made have been for out of doors. I'm working on plans for a big table for outside...can't find exactly what I want... necessity prompting the exercise as well.

Becky, the only problem with particle board is that it is heavy! If you aren't planning on moving any time soon and all it has to do is sit where it is that could actually be an advantage...

I live in a suburb of Columbus, but was born and raised in Amish country (about 100 miles north). "Wilkum" is Pennsylvania Dutch for welcome and hex signs (distelfink) contain symbols to the Amish. Mine is a link to a page that explains what they mean.

Becky thank you for that. I knew the 'Wilkum' Amish connection and that is fascinating to know you were born and raised in Amish country. Saw an amazing collection of Amish quilts about 10years ago... so different to how they are often portrayed as being 'drab and boring'...strength in design is not dependent on the bright colours I love.

yes....so I discovered....I remember one quilt that had so much movement in it and even tho it was a tonal design and wasn't using dramatic colours for contrast it has stayed in my mind....

They've gotten expensive. I was looking at a display a couple of years ago and the average price for a small one was over $500.
