I can hear the coyotes out back (somewhere in the hood) yapping and trying to catch something. I can't wait until it cools down a bit more and they will move down to a lower elevation.

Do yours leave during the winter? We have a lot of elevation changes in a small area - from 1500' elevation to 4500' elevation within a 40 mile radius. So I think the coyotes leave for warmer temps. They are only here in the summer. It's way Panda (my cat) must be in at night...well, coyotes, bears and mountain lions

I'm watching the US Open tennis (Roddick vs. Djokovic) - I really can't stand Djokovic and I think he will win. He is not a humble champion - he's arrogant and uses lots of gamemanship...I like when the winners are people I can admire.

No, our coyotes stay all year, but they don't come too near our house because of the dogs

MizT, we recently had a bank scare here. Hubby looked at the savings account balance and almost had a coronary. We were missing over $5,000. Somehow, somebody else's mortgage payment was coming out of our account for a few months. We got all our money back, plus interest that we missed out on. Hope your story has a good ending, too.

I have an escaped animal story, too. On Tuesday when we went out, I forgot to secure the sliding kitchen door. It is a pocket door and Nuka can open it. The outside door was ajar because Amber went out to get her bathing suit and didn't close it properly. We were almost home and we came around the last bend in the road before our driveway and coming down the road was Nuka. Amber opened her door and called out "car ride". In jumped Nuka, covered in burs and whatever she had found to roll in(bear droppings?). Before I left today, you can bet I made sure everything was closed up properly.

MizT - That's everyone's nightmare, having your bank account hacked into. What a violation! Glad you'll get the money back and that you can manage in the meantime, some people couldn't.
June - What a week you're having with Laura not being well either. This job as a mother doesn't stop when they get to be 18 or 21, does it. We can't do much to help but your SA friends are here to listen.

Went to see my Mum today with my daughter. While we were there my cousin from WA rang up and I gave the phone to Mum. She was delighted to talk to him and seemed to get a lot out of the short converstaion with him. Sometimes she's not too bad and he got her on a good day. He's always been a favourite of hers, he was born 3 weeks after my second brother was born and died (same day) and he lived with us for a year as a child while his own Mum was seriously ill in hospital and recuperating. It was nice to see Mum so happy.

I better get out of here, was sposed to be back at the hairdressers 2 minutes ago! She will be tapping the clock when I get there!
