I hope you enjoy popping in to see us all. Here's a bottle of Goundry Unwooded Chardonnay and some to help decorate your place.

Hi Giblet! I see you haven't moved in yet, so I'll leave a small bottle of chocolate liquor for you to enjoy. Let me know when you have moved in and I'll drop off a fresh pastry delight from Ottawa for you (don't want it to go stale).

[welcome.JPG] Thank you all. The decoration may leave a lot to be desired, but the welcome is warm. Draw up a mat and I'll put the kettle on. There's tea, coffee, rumballs, and wine.
Anne, I haven't tasted the Goundry Unwooded Chardonnay but it smells wonderful. and the flowers are much appreciated in droughty Vic.
CP, thanks muchly for the cake (I hope its chocolate!) and the pumpkin. (We won't go into scones, so I think soup for everyone?)
Canuck Greg- Chocolate liquer? Yum! And thank you for the pastry. Is this one of your famous beavertail delights? I've been meaning to ask you how many beavers it takes to make a beavertail pastry? Are there many beavers in your part of Canada? You seem very fond of them. [biggrin] Thank you all and please come again soon.

About my camera, mine was quite a bit more expensive than the amount you mentioned as I treated myself with some money left to me. It's a Panasonic and does a lot more things than I will ever use or know how to use. There are so many digital cameras on the market these days and most I believe are really good. Mine has got a 12xoptical zoom that extends to 3x digital zoom giving a 36xzoom altogether. I hope your daughter finds what she is looking for and has a wonderful time in her travels. Tell her to make sure her belongings are securely on her at all times as I had my purse stolen out of my backpack within minutes of being in Santiago, before I had a chance to use my money belt. But that could happen anywhere.

Hi Giblet: I just read your message. First, thank you so much for visiting my page and your very kind words. In re: your daughter's trip; to photograph wildlife you do need a telephoto lens however, having said that, a DSLR with a long lens is a bulky and, at times, heavy equipment to carry on a trip. If she does have her heart set on a DSLR I would go with either the Cannon Rebel or one of the Nikon D's (50 through 200 depending on how much you want to spend)
She needs to consider that a tripod, monopod or sometimes even, a bean-bag is a must for lenses longer than 400mm.
Hope this helps. If you have any other concerns, do drop me a line.
Best wishes to your daughter for a fun-filled tripl

Hi Giblet! Thanks for stopping by. I only drink tea(regular) and since my family is from Ireland, we know how to make a cuppa! (I've actually never had coffee.) I'll have to change the poem. Have a great day!
