Well I just got an invite to visit Anne- Greg asked me - is that OK?

Nice place you have here - shame I missed out on all the fun yesterday, especially as I appear to have got blamed for blowing the whole place sky high.

Never mind, those of us who have been around a while know who REALLY does the blowing up

Good Afternoon Anne

Yes Anne, trouble getting onto Page 2, manage to get on by posting a comment
How is your day going. As for the piroshki's, hope you will make some when I come to visit in Albany, unlike your ladybug, Peter and I love Blue Vien Cheese.
Rola  From Perth
oh dear the spelling bug is causing trouble. 'Vein' not Vien
Deidre  From Perth WA
I made it, Anne. Pardon my ignorance, but what are/is piroshkis. Never heard of it/them.
Your place is very friendly isn't it? Lots of nice people. I think ladybugs give a person good luck, especially if one lands on you. They are not a pest, but rather a welcome addition to the garden. And they don't need an invite either.

For those who are interested, please consider yourselves privileged because I rarely give favourite recipes away, but I will post the recipe for piroshkis here on my site under 'recipe'. If you take the time to make them, enjoy them as much as we do. BUT, be warned, they are rather fattening so they are only an indulgence. They are really simple but fiddly.

PIROSHKI (it's an old recipe book so the ingredients are in imperial measurements so you will need to convert them to suit)
Pastry:
4 oz packaged cream cheese
4 oz butter (a must)
1 cup (4 oz) plain flour
beaten egg to glaze

Method:
Beat cream cheese and butter in a bowl, add sifted flour and mix into a dough. Wrap in greaseproof paper and chill for an hour or two.
Roll pastry out reasonably thinly and cut into 2-inch rounds with cutter. Put a teaspoonful of filling onto each round, moisten edges with a little beaten egg (or water) and fold pastry over to form a crescent shape. (that bit is fiddly). Seal well. Place on baking tray and brush with beaten egg. Bake in hot oven (400F/210-220C) for about 10 mins until golden.

For filling:
1 oz butter (or bit less)
1 onion, chopped
about 3 rashers bacon

Melt butter, add onion and bacon and cook until onion is transparent & bacon slightly crisp. Season with S & P. Cool then use as above.

Anne, thanks for stopping by my place. Your food is better. I'm not much of a dancer, so I'll just hang out by the refreshment table.

Hi, Anne. What yummy food you serve. What's the origin of piroshkis? It sounds Russian or Polish. They're delicious.
Deidre  From Perth WA

Good morning Anne, I see that now that Bert has left, you are curled up on the sofa fast asleep. Its no wonder what with all of the parties going on, and the food. Every thing was just great. I think I will try my hand at making piroshkis during the holidays. Thanks for the recipe.BTW, I turned the music down way low so others will know that the party's over for now.

Hi Anne. Isn't that the pits, I drop in again and you're still asleep. Well, I've dropped an almond beavertail pastry on your kitchen tabe, and there is a bottle of Pelee Island white from Canada chilling in your fridge (do hope you can find it amongst all those other bottles of wine in there). Oh, and thanks for doing my dishes. I returned the favour. Sorry about the broken platter.

Hello there Anne,
I'm sure that I dropped in on the first day to check out your gallery and commented then that there was no gallery to be found but my comment seems to have disappeared. that happens to plebs you know.
fi  From NT
OK I'm expecting a gallery here so perhaps I'd better not redecorate just yet... what have I brought ..... mmm some mango ... some lime .. some sugar... (all very tropical stuff) ... some rum (also tropical but distilled beyond recognition) ... a blender ....

2 1/4 c. white rum
1 c. lime juice (approx. 8 limes)
zest from 4 limes
4 mangoes
2/3 c. sugar syrup

WHIRRR all together.

That should be enough for a party I think...

Enjoy!!!
fi  From NT
Oh!! - for those who need a name for the above ....... Mango Daiquiri! by the way- You should have seen the size of the mangoes that a collegue brought in to work today- MASSIVE! _ and so juicy and perfect!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
fi  From NT
I'm looking forward to your gallery Anne. Ciao... I'm off to bed. keep that Mango Daiquiri on ice and enjoy.
