LADDER describes a six-stage process for handling problems in an assertive way. These are:

L – Look at your rights and what you want, and understand your feelings about the situation (It is your right to have salt in your stew!)

A – Arrange a meeting with the other person to discuss the situation (Does your doctor want you to eat less salt?)

D – Define the problem specifically (Surely a little salt will add to the ultimate feeling of contentment after you have eaten the stew?)

D – Describe your feelings so that the other person fully understands how you feel about the situation (You want salt in your stew it tastes better)

E – Express what you want clearly and concisely (I want salt in my stew!!!)

R – Reinforce the other person by explaining the mutual benefits of adopting the site of action you are suggesting.(If you don't give me salt I will throw this stew over you!)

So Greg do you want salt with your stew?
You decide as for me I definitely want a full bodied chocolate fondue, but is it good for me that is the question? I'm not sure, you decide

Yes, please join us.. as of tonight (Jan. 20) we are just 18 dusthunters shy of 22,000. Trouble is,, like I mentioned to Andre.. if you get serious about it, it can be time consuming. I have to spend at least an hour or two a day just to stay ahead of the crowd and make a little progress in the ranks.

Did you join Greg?, certainly is a fascinating project to be studying.. I think Bob has a huge start on it..

I hope your winter is not too harsh. From my experience I think that you Canadians are better equipped for winter than just about anyone in this world. Mind you, I have had some out-of-control moments in your fair country in freezing rain. But it's like landings - any landing you walk away from is a good landing. I survived your winter and walked away from all my landings.

Hi CG, Just wanted to give you a shout out before I go to bed. Thanks for being so good about your visits and nice comments, its all appreciated. I've been rather busy lately,and was just able to keep up with the puzzles and comments on the main pages. I have started virtual traveling around the globe again trying to speak to most of the good folks, but it will take time. Stay well and stay warm my friend, and I shall return.

We had 32C yesterday and by sunday it should get to around 37C. so a scortcher for us. Anyway I have really enjoyed my car, and thanks for popping in to see me from time to time. its nice to know that people care. 24/01/07

Hi Greg, Hong Kong Disney opened in October or December 2005. It is located on Lantau Island across the bay from Discovery Bay. It has it's own dedicated train which runs from a purpose-built interchange on the Tung Chung line out of Hong Kong central. We had great fun - the kids couldn't get enough of the place. Just as well we had bought annual passes for our 3 week stay!

Hi Greg, thanks for dropping by and asking after Houpette. Yes she is fine now. I think she may have had something in her ear as we had a lot of head shaking but that has stopped. We are still walking even though the weather has turned colder.

Hi Greg - Have you done any ice fishing lately? Bluegills - they are my favorite. My dad use to ice fish every winter. They were so yummy! I hope you have a great winter!

Hey Greg, thanks for popping by my place. Emily has been doing ballet for 9 years, so its not just a phase, thou I wish it was, those costumes are getting more elaborate as she progresses. The tutu she is wearing took me hours and hours and she has out grown it in one year. This year she starts Points and joins the senior troupe. Not sure if she will make a career out of it, she would like to however time will only tell.

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that makes wigs from human hair and then they are given to people in need, cancer patients, those who suffer from alopecia, etc... Emily has beautiful thick hair and knows how lucky she is to be healthy, so this was her way of trying to give something to someone less fortunate, and something to make them feel better about themselves.

Jan 28 - thanks for 'checking up on me' - and happy new year to you. Stuff keeps getting in the way of spending some creative time to set up my page and get my Chile pictures up on Flickr etc. Thanks for your interest - and don't give up - I WILL get around to it. Hubby is in Ottawa this weekend (I couldn't make it this time) - one of his 8 brothers lives there (in Kanata). Hopefully next time...I'm quite fond of Ottawa.

Good diet Greg. I love throwing snowballs. As a former pitcher with a good fastball, anyone who got in the way had a black & blue. I have matured from that habit plus I live in Fl. Living in Fl. had more to due with it.
