Smilie (Emoticon) Recycle Bin

Submitted By: Gail from Cockatoo Vic AU

Gath, is there any chance of creating a holding pen for smilies that are not in everyday use, but not really ones that I want to delete.

I have some that I always use and others that were for a specific occasion eg '50' for my hubby's 50th, don't want to get rid of them entirely as they may come in handy at a later date.

At the moment in the manage smilies page, the options are keep or delete, just wondering if you can implement an added 'put away for a rainy day' type option. :-)

Gail, I could use a storage space for those special occasion smilies, like the BLING and boas and tiras for the next party! Might save Gath some time, if we do not have to delete ( so we can find our every day smilies) and then resubmit them later. A fine idea IMO, dear girl!

Being a smilieoholic...I really could use a feature like Gail suggests.
Brilliant Gail!
I have over 200 smilies and imagine I'll be looking for more. Would love to be able to put a bunch of them into storage for special occasions.
Thanks Gail for suggesting this!

Sounds good, but it might be tough deciding what goes into storage.

The more I think about it, the more I think that we just need additional boxes for "Your Smilies". When one fills up at say, 150 smilies, another starts. That would prevent long download times.

You would need to be able to shuffle them around though.

I would like to be able to organize them. The ones I use all the time at the top. Then maybe in categories, i.e. animals, greetings, seasonal, food, etc. Then, at least the similar ones would all be in the same area.

This is an absolutely wonderful idea! It would be GREAT to be able to ORGANIZE smilies and avatars per occasion or need. It seems crazy to delete, then resubmit later. As it is, they seem to randomly add themselves - not even in the order submitted. PLEASE, Gath, is there a way to organize into folders or something?

What a great idea Kathy and Julie. I don't want to delete any of mine but I don't need Christmas ones for 11 months etc etc. Folders would be excellent or just being able to organize them into the order WE want.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for emailing me this suggestion. I do have an idea how I can organise it for you - it is just a matter of time to build it.

Great communication string! New to the lingo- smileys usually refers to only the round face characters, will the library also include all the great little pictures.... they sure add to the character of this site. Like Kathy said "Hats Off!"... to all you cats!

Stopped by to see if there was any progress.
Guess not.....
Darticus, we refer to all of them as smilies. If this ever gets off the ground, it would be great to organize them.

Just dropped by to see if there has been any progress on this. Has anyone (besides me) emailed Gath directly?

It's bloody useless, Gail. The tags cannot be used for locating smilies when posting. It can take a looooooong time to find the desired smilie when you have nearly 1,000 of them.

Yeah Heidi, I know, but it is a start. At least the ínfrastructure is there now, maybe we can get Gath to tweek it to the next stage...

Would also love to be able to shuffle around photos in our galleries, without losing the comments on them. I have two collections of fungus photos in there and would love to bundle them together, as well as rearrange family photos.
