try ALT+0233 for é. Are you on a desktop or a laptop? If a laptop, hold down the function key also, to activate the numeric keypad within the keyboard. On a desktop, use the numeric keypad, not the row of numbers at the top.

I will keep my coffee away from you, gee, not sure I trust anyone who does not like the smell of coffee!! But I do understand, when I was PG with my first, smell of coffee trigered morning sickness big time!
