He's 14. Too big to drag. He hates school and needs to be working with his hands, but our schools don't provide much of that and he's too young to leave. He was to start a new school, but he freaked out. D#2 was very upset this morning but much calmer this evening. From what she says, the headmistress of the new school is outstanding. Because I'm a psychologist (or was) I can use meditation/hypnosis techniques to reduce the fear side.

Wow, that must be really tough for your daughter. My son hasn't been feeling well and yesterday he said he shouldn't go because he had a sore throat. I told him that if he was that sick, then he couldn't play in his soccer game on Wednesday. He went to school. Although, when hubby picked him up, he didn't sound well. He didn't ask this morning though!

I forgot to refresh before so I didn't see your response right away. I was watching "Regis and Kelly" a local talk show out of NYC.

Sometimes its hard to know when they're having you on and when it is serious! This one is serious, but he is now seeing as psychiatrist. He'd been contemplating suicide, unknown to us. Like my heater, we found all this out in time. As I said on the easy post, he's a sensitive boy. So there's lots of loving and helping to do for and with him.

By the way, my knee's OK for driving, but sitting in one place for 2 hrs might be a problem. I'll have to take it slowly.

He is in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you can provide some relief! I think teenagers have the toughest time because they have all those hormones surging through their bodies and are trying to cope with every day life. It's difficult for them to see beyond their own struggle.

thanks, Stella. Meanwhile the chimney has cooled down to safe levels and I'm now in bed with my laptop and maybe the sky is not going to fall in after all!

Gath has been so kind to set all this up for us. It never occurred to me before that one could find such kind friends by chatting on the net.

Where is everybody today? Nobody on this side of the world checked in this morning! I've cleaned up a storm this morning (although it doesn't look like I got very far!) and just taking a break for lunch. It has warmed up by 20 degrees and it looks beautiful outside. I'll have to take a break later and sit in the backyard.

Stella, I did some of that cleaning too, and then had a RUDE SUPRISE! Another blasted water leak, these old pipes cannot keep it together! Now, silly me, I heard a THUD from side of the house back in my bedroom as I sat here on computer, but it was just a noise and hubby always teasing me abut hearing noises, so I ignored it. WELL, should nothave ignored this one! when I turned on water, no water pressure. the office bathroom at the dome had good pressure when I called AL, so he came to check, it had to be something under the house. OF COURSE it was hot water, a pipe came loose from the water heater!! Not sure when I shall have HOT water again. Al is too busy making a dome kit, and his helper is taking sick day again, so only BOY to help him. BOY is not skilled, labor only , to move lumber about. this will delay Al, so no extra time to repair plumbing. We have a call into the handyman who repaired the OTHER leaks, hoope he can get by today.

My dishwasher was mid cycle, still washing with soap, so I had to hand rinse all the dishes. Better than WASH them all, right? Half full, you know. Now I must inform Daughter she might have no hot water is she comes down here this afternoon. I can manage, but not sure if she is as adaptable.

OK, that is my tale and I am sitting on it!

Oh my, that is a disaster! Hopefully it can be fixed quickly. We still have not replaced our hot water heater. Currently have rags around it to absorb the leak. We really should do something before it becomes an emergency situation. (knock on wood) Must get back to stuff now that lunch break is over.

yes, a small disaster, but it could be much worse. I have cold water, I can manage. the leak which is just a thin partition from my closet could have soaked my clothes, as it was more a geyser than a leak, and it has soaked clothes before. Last time Al was at hot water tank, he put back a partition that was water proof, so clothes are still dry. They are just piled on my BED , and will have to be moved before bedtime. no nap for me today it seems.

Not really here, so don't tell on me.

Dino, glad you caught it before the house or you were hurt. Can they home school him? Our nephew had the same problem. SIL went to the school and set up a program with them. They also sent a tutor a couple of times a week.

Stella and MizT, boy can I relate. Our hot water tank was over the hill when we bought the house (1987) and hadn't been serviced since 1977. A few months later we had a small leak and plugged it up. The following summer our electric company started leasing hot water tanks. We have a monthly payment, but we don't have to service it and get 10% off our electric bill. If it breaks, they come to either fix or replace it.

Now, back to my chores.

Hi Stella, just dropped by to catch up on all your chat.
Our hot water is a tank in the roof. Has been there for 32 years and never serviced. It sits in a tray with an overflow in case it should leak. It has had a few minor repairs like adjusting the level float. I do not envy MizT with no hot water. Hope she has good neighbours like we do who would offer to let her use their shower till hers is fixed. Or maybe Al will fix it when he realises he has to have a COLD shower!

June, that is some tank! They probably don't make any more of that kind. They don't build things to last anymore. We are thinking of getting a tankless water heater, but I haven't investigated it yet. I'm sure it is more complicated than it sounds.

Hi Stella and June. Chores done for the day. Tomorrow is the grocery and other shopping. At least the 2 stores are across the road from each other.

June, thought about you the other night. We cooked out at a neighbors house. After we got done eating, we were sitting at the table when I felt a tapping on my upper arm. Their one cat was standing on his hind legs and tapping me with his paw. Was told that he wanted me to feed him. Ended up feeding both cats and their dog.

Hi, dino, MizTricia, Becky, Stella, and June! Wow, dino and MizTricia have their hands full today! And good luck to those with aging water heaters! Luckily ours is about 5 years old, so knock-on-wood, we should have many years of hot water ahead of us. Dino, good luck with your grandson! I hope you, the new school and head-mistress, and your daughter will be able to help him through this difficult time! May all disasters be small and manageable!
