Yes Ruby, we have now but when they first colonised they all wanted to make Oz be like where they came from. Now we are paying the price! Deer farms, for meat, became very popular some years back. Everyone thought they would make a fortune and then the bottom dropped out of the market. There are still some deer farm, with VERY HIGH fences about. We had one next door to our family farm on th outskirts of Sydney many years ago.

I can't seem to warm up this morning. All the windows were open last night and it got down to 40F. I'll have to get my sweats out.

Stella we can have similar problems with kangaroos if they go through the windshield as their back legs are so terribly strong.

I'd like to see a fence high enough that a deer couldn't jump it. That must be some fence!

Maybe that is why Brendan is afraid of deer. I think the kids ran down to the corner when they heard the sirens. They probably didn't see anything, but everyone knows the story. My two younger ones were too young, so I don't think they knew about it, but I think about it when I go past those woods, and I didn't even see it.

There was a famous actor, Irish or English I think, who was riding his motorcycle north of NYC and a deer jumped on him. He almost died and doesn't ride motorcycles anymore.

You don't have to see it to be affected. A little boy in our town was putting gas in a hot lawnmower and was burned to death. I didn't see it, but when my mother told me about it, she said it was a terrible way to die. I knew then that I would always be careful with gas for the rest of my life.

Ruby, When Lindy Chamberlin lost her baby at Uluru there were many dingo jokes going around so I will not go there. Our biggets problems now are foxes and rabbits, both introduced over 200 years ago.

Hi Ruby (you probably will have left now) just to answer your questions. I have been very busy at work , but try to get on here every so often but no one ever seems to be a round.
Callie is growing, I will have to get her a new harness this weekend as her first one does not fit anymore. She is very mischievous and is into everything. It's like having a toddler around. Apart from the chewing Callie is wonderful. I have tried putting more photos onto my page but have failed so far

Stella I wish I had time for cleaning To be honest I hate cleaning and would much rather be working, and if I was really really honest I would rather do neither, but needs must. I'm hoping that the ironing fairy will call here tonight.

Very good Rena!

Brenda, I hate doing housework! That is why it gets so bad, and I gave up ironing a while ago. Now that the kids are old enough, I should be working, but the work I'm trained for I don't want to do, and can't see myself doing other jobs. I do substitute teach occasionally, but it is not regular. Must get back to cleaning, inlaws coming in 2 weeks and they are staying in Brendan's room which he did not clean or organize before he left.

Break time! S#2 was supposed to have his first soccer game today, but the other school apparently did not have enough players. I don't know why they didn't know this before hand. You would think that it would be something they would have noticed earlier! D#2 is having her second game this afternoon. It is a home game and I wish I was there. I will be going to her game on Friday though!

Find a six-digit number in which the first digit is one less than the second, the fourth digit is three more than the third, the fifth digit is one less than the fourth and the last digit is one less than the fifth. The sum of the first and third digits equals the last, the sum of the second and last digits equals the fourth and the sum of all the digits is 21.

Rolanda, is that like jeans or sweatpants? I need your help or Angie's to make D#1's Halloween costume. She wants to be Ariel! I got the material and drew it out but haven't quite figured out how to give the impression of scales. I'm thinking of quilting it.

Stella, like sweatpants type - made with Denim Material..
as for Costumes.. mmmmm .Scales .. Quilting might the way to go, or extra sewing by adding (lots) overlaping half circles..
Angie would be the one to ask I think, as she is the expert in Costume making

For scales on the mermaid costume, here is what i would do. Fairly large half circles of fabric that does not ravel (or iorn it onto a interfacing before cutting) and use iorn on hemming tape at the straight top edge to secure them on whatever you use for the underlayment. start at the bottom, so the next row covers the top edge of the scales, like roofing a house. On alternate rows, you should start with HALF of a half circle, so it changes where the longest part of the circles falls.

Clear as mud?

I do have a Jeans Pattern, which I could make with the Denim Material, but much prefer the elastic waist then the zip and button, and waist band, and thousands of pockets and the sewing thereof.
and the less sewing involved, side seams, inner seams, crotch seam, hem, and waist casing for the elastic. do put in side pockets - the fiddliest part of making the pants

it is really not tape, it is a web of sticky stuff, forgot the name, fusible hemming tape maybe, but I buy it by the roll, about 1/2 inch wide and yards and yards long.

Hi Stella, Rolanda and Miz T.

Stella, since you have the material, was thinking that you could use material glue and sprinkle glitter on the material. To give the illusion of scales you could draw them right onto the material with a darker color glitter pen.

Stella, if you do choose to quilt it, machine quilting using a glittery, metalic thread would look nice.
