You're more than welcome vdV. The more, the merrier! I still can't get the hang of catering for small numbers so there's enough to feed the army, as per usual! Have to go now, mate but I will be back later. Maybe I'll catch you then but let me know what was the best thing about this holiday, and what was the worst! Ciao for now.

Gail I saw Hairspray on Saturday. I had seen the Broadway Production in NY last year and although I enjoyed the Movie I think it works better as a live show.

Sag Bot over and done with for another fortnight!
June, I haven't seen a live show in years! Just isn't hubby's cup o tea. My girlfriend and I took our 13 yo daughters to see the movie and they both enjoyed it. I had a good laugh and a bit of a tear or two but then I cry at tissue commercials!

No-one around for the last hour? Are you all having dinner with Gail? vdV I waved to your Jabiru as I drove past Tooradin on my way home after Saturday in Bendigo.

All is well in Ruby. It's a little hazy, but it promises to be a fine day. There are no sounds but the crickets and the birds that sing in the morning. Have a good day.

Cold night here and the fire burning. I have d#2 and four teenagers here for part of school holidays. I've been given strict instructions to rest while they look after me.

I love school holidays. I woke up this morning with a start. It was 8.30 and before I started to curse my hubby for not turning on the alarm, I remembered that he had the day off and the girls were on holidays. Woohoo!

.. and I love having the family here, even though it does mean chaos: sand, wet towels, dripping wetsuits etc.

Hi Gail and Dino and Ruby! Our next holiday is at Thanksgiving at the end of November and that's a short one. It is nice to wake up late and realize you don't have to be any place in particular!

Was just thinking earlier, it would be great if when we visit the SA room, we could say what we're having for dinner that night. I mentioned that I was having Spaghetti Bolognase and gave Rolanda an idea about what to have tonight. Sometimes its very hard to get excited about what can I do with the ingredients I have in the freezer and pantry. Would love some fresh new ideas.

Stella, I'm glad you're rejoicing on our behalf. School holidays also means that out little village fills up and the broadband slows down. Well, since it is such a beautiful spot we locals feel obliged to share it occasionally

Stella, d#2 is nearly 40 now, and mother of the grandson. He's settled down a bit because there is a system whereby he only needs to be at school 3 days per week which he feels is manageable.
I also did some hypnosis with him for anxiety reduction. He can't remember what we did, but now when he crosses his hands he relaxes. "It's weird" he says!

Gail what is spaghetti bolognase? I had leftovers from Saturday last night, ribs, potatoes and veggies. Don't know what we're having tonight. S#2 has a soccer game so it will be a late dinner.

Gail, our dinner was according to holidays and the cafe open... hamburgers and chips! Not very healthy, but very easy.

That's really good you were able to help him! So the 4 teens are your grandchildren? (How old?) That will provide a lot of energy around your house!!

In any case, I'm just doing what my D#2 tells me to do! It is great having her here and having time catch up properly with each other. She leaves tomorrow and D#1 arrives. Her children are younger, still in primary school.

They must love being so close to the beach!! My kids would love to go back to the beach on holiday. Last year we went to Mytle Beach, South Carolina, with hubby's family, and they absolutely loved it. They keep asking when we can do it again!

Of the 4 teens, only one is grandchild. Plus his friend. Then there is my ex's daughter, K, and her friend. K's mother died two years ago quite unexpectedly from a rare illness. I'm her sort-of adopted mother and she is often here. She now has her driving licence and came down to study and to give me whatever help i need at the moment.

Spag Bol, or Sag Bot as my family calls it, is spaghetti with a tomato and beef mince sauce. Easy peasy but always a winner. It heats up as leftovers very well.

It is very expensive and Myrtle Beach is very far away. My brother lived at the beach, but he moved September 1st. My mom lives 3 miles from the beach, but it is not the same for the kids since you can't walk there. We rented a house one block from the beach and the kids could go whenever they wanted. They even all(my kids, not their cousins) got up at 5am to watch the sun rise over the ocean! They couldn't understand why their cousins didn't want to hang out at the beach or in the water.

Where does the "bot" or "bol" come in? We just call it spaghetti. We either have it with meat sauce, plain sauce or no sauce.(D#1 makes olive oil and garlic sprinkled with romano cheese for plain spaghetti.)

Well, I'd love you to visit, too Stella, but the traveling cost might be a bit prohibitive!
Gail, I have a 'turn up and bring what you need' policy here. I'm not up to having a sparkling house and date scones, but we're a friendly bunch.

Bewdy dino, sounds like my kinda place. You name the day and I'll be there. Is it ok if I turn up with an extra teen or two? We'll try to catch the good weather for a walk along the beach.

Stella, as far as I know, the name Bolognase comes from an area in Italy, maybe where this type of sauce is the local specialty.
