House is quiet now. Everyone else in bed. Merlin is blissed out with all the attention he's been getting and stretched out on top of my hot water bottle. So time to turn out the light and pull up the doona.
Enjoyed the chat! good night.

I asked Linda from Pioneer what she thought of the Aussies she met and she said the favourite thing about her visit was the people. We love visitors and we certainly don't mind a good time. If you ever do get to visit Australia, we'll make sure you have a blast.

YOO HOO, anyone lurking? Dropping in to see what is going on, and find the room empty.

Well, more stuff to do anyway, my cleaning lady could not come this past weekend. Right now, she has canceled as often as she had showed, I do hope that changes and she keeps the appointment this comming weekend.

Not getting much help from the unpaid cleaners either...'I've got homework to do is the cry at the moment' Never mind I actually had the house to myself for a couple of hours today it was bliss, apart from the fact that my lovely Callie was very demanding, if she didn't get my attention she found something to chew and then got my attention

Hi Stella, I don't know whether we should be saying thanks or not to Gath for giving us this distraction. I know this is far better than menial tasks which somehow or other always manage to get done (maybe not as well as they used to be done before SA)

I don't know where the time is going. I see there is about an hour between my last two posts. I know I have been out and taken my daughter to school (Open evening for the school she has just started her teacher training placement at) but that only took 20 minutes.

So Callie is a chewer? Surprise, surprise. All spaniels are chewers, and they don't grow out of it like other dogs when they have finished cutting their teeth. It does abate somewhat, though. You need to put hot sauce on your electrical cords and provide plenty of appropriate chew items. Brownie and Kate, my Boykin Spaniels, in their lifetimes (14 and 17 years), went through about half the cows in Texas in rawhide chews, and, if I had all the garden hose they ruined, it would stretch to the next town.

Hi Ruby,
I have chew toy in abundance for Callie, but she prefers anything else.I am hoping that the chewing will abate when she has finished teething, but at the moment we spray all electric cables with a product called Bitter bite, which does deter her for a while. Callie is also a digger so I am going to have help when I do the flower borders.. if there are any left by next year

Hi Guys
Another brief moment to spare - just enough time to say hello and wish everybody well. It's a beautiful, sunny, Spring day here in Canberra. Not quite fully out of Winter weather yet, just enough of a chill at night to snuggle under the blankets. The blossoms have just about all dropped from the trees and the new green shoots are emerging. I think we are going to have a pretty hot Summer here (yuk), and who knows what else with this global warming. I hope my great-great grandchildren get to see the world as it is now.

MORNING SUDOKULAND. A cool and foggy morning today with a promise of a very warm ( 90*F) autumn day today here in Alabama. I should get outside and enjoy fore it gets too hot today. Ride that mower again. I did get the back yard cut over weekend, only the much smaller front to cut today.

BRENDA, you are so right, good staff is hard to find hehehe. My cleaning lady is a young single mother who seems to need the income from the job, so I have hopes she will return with some regularity. I only have her half a day every other week, to do some of the things I cannot comfortably do now. Like the things that are UP HIGH or DOWN LOW. Old bones complain when they have to stoop or reach , you know.

I talked to D#1 last night and she has to see a specialist today. Last week she got biten by a bug and then she and her roommate both got biten in their room by something they thought must have been a spider. On Saturday(days after she got the bites), she told me they looked strange, were red around them and were itchy. I told her to go to the infirmery. She went yesterday to the infirmery because she was having trouble bending her leg! Now I'm worried about her leg!
