What was dinna tonight June? We had hamburgers, but with toast instead of buns, like a steak sandwich. I asked D#1 to grab some rolls when she was at the shop but they had sold out! Typical.

I was talking to Rolanda earlier on msn and when I was trying to read page 5 of easy, I was getting an error message then. Couldn't seem to access it anyway, then tried page 6, no dramas, pressed 'previous' and it took me to page 5! I think there are still a few lingering.

Many thanks to all the northerner friends who shared thier wind and cold. We dropped from 68F to 32 F ( 0*C) in a matter of hours. First rain, lots of rain for about 2 hours, then WIND, oh did we get wind, and with temps dropping. I did not check wind chill factors, but with 40 MPH wind and higher gusts, I am sure they were most cold!

good to see vdV and mama back on site, missed both of you.

forgot to say, 68F ( 20C) It will take about 5 days to get almost back that warm again, with gradual warming.

Of course weather change makes old bones creaky. I am up hunting the tylenol and waiting for it to work. Getting sleeepy again, so there is hope I can finish off th night back in slumberland.

Will check back in after a few more hours. Everyone take good care.

OH, has anyone heard from RUBY? I think she is still missing since the crash of the site.

Rolanda said she might not get on much her tomorrow. Son robert will be home. While he shares his computer nicely while he is away from home, not so generous with it when he is at home. She said she got a grumble when she asked when the computer would be repaired. son and friend working on it. I hope it is soon! Missing her already!
One more for a CP over 4 hours again? someone has to stop me!! ya'll make it too easy leaving the site unguarded that long.

It is so good to be back and able to say Good Morning to all of my SA group again. We currently have all of the wind you had yesterday, blowing our way today, and the temps are predicted to start dropping rapidly this arvo. The the sun is shinning brightly, however and Its going to be a great day.
Brenda, sounds as if your daughter started her new job with a band....gld she wasn't hurt, and the rest of her working time will only explode with good things. Becky, glad your hubby was successful in his job quest too....must be a great feeling to look forward instead of regretting the present employment.....I've been there.
Thanks to all for the welcome back.
Miz T, I haven't started on the sequel to Pillars yet either....started a James Patterson one for now.

Hi Brenda, sorry I didn't get back to read your reply yesterday. Life got in the way - this time in the form of school uniforms... I have a degree in Chemical Engineering, but I did work at it and enjoy it. I quit work when d1 was 19 months old (no 12 month maternity leave in US or I might have stuck with it = both of our girls were born in US). I'm now doing my Graduate Diploma of Education (Secondary), also in Science. I will be able to teach years 7 to 12, so 12/13 to 17/18 year olds. It's a one year, full time, course, which I have managed to stretch over 2 years so far - one 4 week practicum to go.

Brenda - sorry to hear about your daughter's tyre. I 'stripped' a tyre on a freeway in California. My daughters were with me and were 3 years and 5 weeks old at the time. I managed to keep going until I reached one of the 'safe' areas with a phone - cars screaming by a couple of feet away from me. While waiting for the road service guy I pulled prams/strollers out of the boot/trunk to check my spare. A passerby tried to help, but woman on the phone told me to tell him to leave NOW. AAA guy snarled at me, changed the tyre, then drove off, leaving me to put dead tyre, tools, strollers and everything else back in the car before I could leave. Scary experience!!

Becky/Rena - we have cut down 3 live trees and 3 dead ones since we moved into this house. One was a huge gum just outside one of the back doors, it's trunk was about a metre in diameter and it was maybe 2 metres from the house, another was a bit further away but the trunk split and it was close enough to land on both our house and our neighbour's, the other was out the front and damaged in a big wind storm. We get BIG winds here. Gum trees keep popping up in my garden (I only pull weeds I recognise so I can keep the trees...) So far I have planted 2 in the back yard (far from the house) and have 3 more in pots. Hubby gave me a Japanese Maple for Xmas and that too has been planted in the back yard. I'd rather have the big trees and not have to wait for these ones to grow, but not at the cost of our house.

Based on my serial posts I am guessing I am here alone, which is probably just as well as it is now time to wake d1 for her first day of Year 9. I will have to go to the school to buy her some bits of a school uniform as she has 'expanded' since last year. Maybe I should say 'rounded'. Wish I could buy the uniform elsewhere as the teeny tiny uniform shop is going to be chockas with parents today...

OK. I guess I'd better check in. When last I posted I had been to the doctor to try to keep sinusitis from blooming into bronchitis or pneumonia. What I got from him was a steroid shot for my allergies and a lecture about bacteria becoming antibiotic-resistant and research showing that many sinus infections are viral. He also gave me a prescription for Amox which I wasn't to start for three days if I did not improve. (My old doctor moved to Charleston, and this joker was the only one I could see without waiting for an appointment. This joker is so fired.) Friday night was horrible, so I filled the prescription. By Sunday night I felt better, well enough to sleep (finally) all night and the next day, too, but I didn't get up to take another pill. When I did wake up it was light out and the dog was barking (unusual) so I figured he was about to pop like I was. As I sat on the john I learned two things. First of all I couldn't hear anything hardly. Secondly, two sets of my neighbors had broken into my house to see if I was dead. It was 5:00pm, and as one neighbor tried to talk me into going to the hospital, the other fixed me something to eat. This hospital runs up the bill, so I just got well on my own. That's where I've been.

Ruby, I am so pleased to see you back, it 'sounds' like you have had a terrible time of it.
How is your hearing now?
Thank heavens for having neighbours who care so much about you. If we were all any closer, we would be there too.
I am leaving a virtual casserole in the fridge and a litre of milk. Anything else you need?

I'm OK now, Gail. Thanks for the casserole and milk. I'm excited tonight because "Lost" is back.
So you're reading Harry Potter Book 7? I don't know how you stood to wait so long. Let us know when you have finished and we'll have a literary convo.
Are there any updates from Dino's friend or little Ethan?

What a weekend Ruby! And since it's nearly the weekend again, I'm guessing it hasn't been a fantastic week either.

I am now home after buying d1 a pair of school shorts and a school shirt ($70!!!) and doing some grocery shopping. I've decided to indulge myself in a little school-is-finally-back time.

Rolanda - without looking back pages to check, let me make a guess.... Your son is in school and is home for a break? If he wasn't in school, you would be able to buy your own computer and not have to wait for him to finish? I think there's an argument for more time on the computer in there somewhere...

Wish I could post the joke my husband just e-mailed me! I think it will lose something/a lot/too much, but I will try to translate the pictures into text....

THREE STAGES OF A MAN'S LIFE
Single - lion and lioness in the 'wild', doin' the bop'd'boop
Married - lion backed up against a concrete cage wall why the lioness roars complaints at him
Divorced - a lion skin lying on the ground

Uni courses (and computing) have changed a lot Rolanda! When I went through Uni ('82 to '85 - guess how old I am) there was only Computer Science and that covered everything. The engineering computers were on a UNIX mainframe, and we had to walk across campus to pick up printouts, and that had to be the next day!
