Not necessarily Rolanda, I was later than some to start a family... I am exactly the age that current news reports claim has a high risk of depression etc - they called me 'middle aged'!!!!

Suzy your course seems to be similar to Elaine's, but over here in the UK she spends more time in school. From this week she will be in school for 4 days a week and at University 1 day. She still has work to do for the uni which is done at home. The first school she was in gave her fantastic reports and the Head of science in the school is keeping in touch with her just in case a vacancy in the department occurs.

MizT You have sent the strong winds our way. Gusts of 70 mph have been recorded. Thank goodness I don't have to go out today (apart from taking Callie for a walk) We may even be in for some snow, though I doubt it will be more than a thin covering if it happens at all.

At about 7pm I was about to tell vdV that I liked his new Jibaru when I realised we were in for a spectacular electrical storm so thought it best to shut down the computer rather than have vdV's problems. Got some rain which was nice but some parts of Sydney have had trees down etc.
Made me go and get some things done for Sharon's party on Saturday night instead of being on here.

June you did the correct thing in shutting down. It's better to be safe than sorry where electrical storms. I remember once thinking that we had closed everything down and that we were safe from problems as we don't have any overhead wires to the house. Wrong we had forgotten to disconnect the wireless router. Fortunately we had a spare so we weren't off line too long.

Suzy, the suburb we live in has a lot of rules about trees. If a tree is over a certain size, we have to get permission to cut it down and only trees that are on a list can be planted. We'll get someone, when it warms up, to trim and top it again.

Ruby, sorry to hear that you've been under the weather. Reminded me of a similar thing that happened to me while in college. Hope you're feeling better and glad that your neighbors are keeping an eye out for you.

Becky, lots of rules here too. Huge fines for cutting down trees without permission! I've never heard anything about restrictions on types of trees though. It doesn't make sense, but I was working with the Rangers for a while and asked them about it (they're the ones who hand out the fines) and there is something about where we live (out of town, some small industry, mostly animal based) that means we can cut down trees more than 30m from the street without permission. As our property is over 300m long that gives us a lot of latitude. Unfortunately, it was the trees that attracted me to the house in the first place! I really only wanted the huge one 2m from the back door to go.

I've been gone 2 hours and there are no more comments! In that time I have consoled 2 girls whose dog was hit by a car and the young man who was driving the car, got the kids off to school, gone through 2 wardrobes looking for a lost jacket (it has vaporised!), and washed dishes. I miss school holidays already!!!
