Cyn, that's a tough one! He's old enough and smart enough to know better so his motivation for getting himself in these positions is hard to fathom. The biggest leverage that you have (that I can see) is that he has his little ones to consider, though I can't see a way to tie them into her too-fast trip etc.

Suzy - I can fathom how he got himself into this situation - he is lonely. He was with his ex for 16 years and now, after Em's in bed at night, he's alone and he feels it. I can often tell by his FB posts. However, he is and always has been gullible. I have warned him and warned him after his previous experiences to leave that avenue alone - what did he do - he went back to on-line dating sites. I have just been reading horror stories on the Consuer Affairs Scamwatch site. Oh dear!
Colin's going to talk to him this afternoon, we feel that he'll listen more to him than to me. Sort of man-to-man rather than Mum-to-son.

Some people are gullible, and stay that way. They usually have the biggest hearts. My father, a sweet, kind, generous man, married three times, each wife was a money hungry, manipulative witch. That includes my mother, his first. The second and third destroyed my relationship with him completely. They told him lies, he believed them, and disowned me.

There are all sorts of alarms going off about this newest sweetheart. I really hope Colin can talk some sense into your son, CynB.

Heidi - what you just said made me realise why my son is so gullible - he takes after his father, who like yours has been so manipulated by his second wife that he no longer has contact with either of our 2 children and doesn't get to see his 5 lovely grandchildren. This must really hurt him inside because after Lachlan, our first grandchild, was born he was so overwhelmed he used to ring me often to just wax lyrical about how wonderful, beautiful, special our grandson was. Now he doesn't even know that he and the others are still as special eight years since he's seen them - and he hasn't even seen his youngest Chloe. Fool, fool, fool - is all I can say.

Vicky, they have parents without Partners there? I like that organization. That is how I met Al. And you are right, met him when I least expected it. I was going with a friend who did not want to go alone. She was "looking for a husband". I was not.

Cyn, hubby and I tried to tell a friend to beware of a woman he met online. She kept saying she was coming from overseas to meet him, and marry him if they got along, but then came the sob stories. He sent her small sums, till she said she could not come cause her dad was sick. she had spent her money on his hospital, but she could come if friend sent her a ticket.( would you leave your sick dad?)

somehow she got not only the ticket,which she cashed in, but his banking information and cleaned out his account, ran up bills on his credit card. He never recovered financially, lost his house, is living with his elderly mom now. there are all kinds of predators out there, preying on the lonely and the trusting. I hope this gal is not one of them.

We just spoke to his best mate's wife. They are all concerned (his friends). This woman is importing things into the country - could it be drugs?

OK - latest news - Colin has spoken to Andrew. He hadn't worked out the time with the flights but said a few things have fallen into place now so he'll be wary from now on - if he hears from her again. Apparently when she rings him (HE doesn't have her phone number) it shows as 'private number'. She's also deleted her account on the Oasis dating site. Scammer - for sure. Forewarned is forearmed. Col told him not to send her money or accept a parcel for her.
Phew! Hope that's over and that he isn't too broken-hearted.

Phew Cyn! His ego is probably a bit bruised, though if she has deleted herself she must have worked out that he isn't quite as gullible as she needed for whatever it was she was after....

Okay, those of you have met me know that I'm just average. A bit short, a bit tubby, very frizzy. No supermodel attributes here. Instead I am gifted with the ability to chose people who go freaky on me! I went out with the ex who visited me tonight more than 22 years ago - and he hit on me tonight!!!!!!!!!!

You're right Suzy, I didn't know he was married. It would sort of leave you with a bad feeling sort of like, "Does he really think I'm that kind of person?"

Cyn I'm pleased that Andrew has figured out that this woman is suspect. I know what he is going through, I used to visit chat rooms when I was single with two small kids. I always made sure they were not sleazy chat rooms. I made a lot of friends (don't know them now but it was 1998) I even nagged one of them about smoking. He had put against his name that he had just gone out for a smoke. He came back just before I logged off and we started to chat. Neither of us were actually looking for a partner, but within 10 months we were married and have been for nearly 11yrs now. So sometimes these sights can be ok. A friend of ours is actually getting married in 3 weeks time to someone she met on FB. He is Canadian but originally Swedish.
Just making the point that not everyone on the internet is like that woman.

The ex has moved a few times and lives a fair way away from here but was in town for training - ambulance officer - so dropped in.

CynB... Andrew was probably NOT the only person she was scamming. For her to delete her account before he wised up makes me think others wised up to her. She may still try to scam him since she has his phone number. Does she know where he lives?

woke this morning with hurty hand. being very careful not to use it today to see if it is just overuse. Perhaps I slept with it in bad position. who knows.

Hubby has been playing with his new toy. He said each battery is only goof for 20 min, but takes 45 to charge. He is taking lots of breaks. I suppose not everyone has as many things that need weed-eating around. Was hoping he would do the riding mower first, verbalized that hope. Did not happen. rain forecast for later, aaaaaaaaahhhgggg I have looked, no way I can operate riding mower, the hard to shift gearshift is on left side, oh well. Maybe I need to find a 4 legged lawn mower??

Cooking beef curry for din din, and it needs my attention.

We've got the same rain system, MizT. It's coming down in buckets here, with occasional lightning. The work on the barn has stopped until next week. It's not safe working high up with slippery metal and lightning. We are actually trying to avoid getting anybody hurt.

The funny thing about this storm is that Dennis hasn't even been slightly nervous. I didn't have to trank him this time. I wonder what's going on.

My niece is expecting #4.. Found out yesterday it is a boy, and has told the world what he will be called, the Baby is due mid Oct.

Good morning lovely people!
First things first - to my lovely granddaughter Hayley - 10 today!
I'm picking her up from school today, then her Dad and 2 sisters will come here for birthday cake before he drops all 3 to their mother. Even though we had a party for her last weekend, I'm so happy to be seeing her today. Now that she's with her Mum, I don't see enough of her and she and I are so close.

I have an appointment to have my Golden Locks attended to, this morning.
Will be making Pumpking Soup for Dinner.
