Hi Judy. How is Melbourne going?
I just read this on the weather site.
Melbourne has had its coldest September in 16 years, with only one day this month above 20 degrees.
You poor devils.
You must move North. Lol ehehe

Julie, Mitchell's bus is usually on time. I can almost set my clock to the normal bus driver. Yesterday was an exception. He gets picked up at the end of our street, about a minute or so walk. I drive him and wait with him in the morning. When he gets home he walks, unless it is raining and hubby will pick him up if he calls. It has worked out so far.
Heidi, Mitchell is thinking of University of Florida (he likes the Gators), Duke or any Ivy League school. He was thinking of Harvard at one time. He wants to be a doctor.

Morning Viv. That is an impressive Avon order. I understand about it keeping your mind off other things
Suzy, hope all goes well with the sleepover. I will be checking back here tonight so I can read what happened.
Hello to everyone else I may have missed. It is early here and I haven't made that first pot yet. I will in a few minutes.

Hubby and I just had a laugh - I told him he's just going to have to keep telling himself he's taking it for the team... sticks and stones may break my bones, but snooty looks can't hurt me!

Viv, Melbourne is (as always) bloody brilliant! Really COOL! The thing is, you can always put another jumper on, but you can't always take something off ... deep, hey?

Good morning world. Surprise, surprise, it's starting to rain.

Suzy, I couldn't open the link. Would it be an article on 3D glasses? So far you seem to be keeping your head so to speak. Remember that when you're a teenager everyone else's parents are cool, but your own are not.

Got to sleep around 2:30 AM and up at 6:30. I am going to try not to have a nap (yeah, right) so that hopefully I can get my sleep schedule back.

On Sunday we are taking hubby's mom for the annual look at the fall leaves drive. With all the rain I'm getting cabin fever, so I'm looking forward to it. She always springs for lunch and supper, so two meals I won't have to make. Yippeeeee!

Viv, wow what an Avon order. That would keep your mind occupied on things other than the "men" in your life! Congrats.

Off to have another coffee. Catch you all later.

Sorry to hear about Tony Curtis. Or Bernie Schwartz. He had a remarkable career.

I need to get going. I'll be back tonight.

Theresa, much much better than 3D glasses. They are glasses that you can adjust! You slide a little thingy until the focus is just the way you want it.. So you want to watch TV, adjust, want to read, adjust, want to play at the computer, adjust again...

I'm maintaining my cool by staying in the other room! I venture in with a word or two then leave again...

I have missed so many pages, I need to start here and go backward, see if I can catch up. Some of Julie's post hints at interesting things I do need to read.

Theresa, I was born with coal black hair, but it came out fore I was 2 and came back snow white. Got darker all my life till recently, when it turned grey, So, am I blond or what?

VIV, isn't that your largest Avon order ever??

Suzy, your home made hamburgers sound nice, gives me a suggestion for a meal soon here. I guess half is better than not eating??

Rolanda, I can help Suzy eat some of those mini quiches, if she has a problem.

Theresa I am sorry the sand man did not do his duty by you. He was lax here also, and it was the wee hours fore I got to sleep, but at least I was able to stay in the bed, unlike you. Laundry at 2 am? Not recommended. I did sleep in till 8 am, when hubby was up and about.

OK I shall try going back a page, catch you later, hugs with extras.

Theresa, the link had a space in it, last word i think, I did notice it though. You would have to copy then remove the space to make it work.

SUZY, I would like those glasses also, I am forever trying to adjust mine while on puter by pushing or pulling at them so I can see better.

VIV, if there really were a restoration bra. . .

How many could use one of those?

Time for a nap, and then I shall check back in later and read a few older pages. More hugs with extras.

Remember Suzy, blood is thicker than water. I'm sure she was glad to see you, but is trying not to let it show.

MizT, my hair turns lighter in the summer from the sun. It makes my hair look like it has highlights. The last time I went to the hairdresser she asked if I wanted my highlights touched up!

Thanks for the tip about Suzy's link, MizT. I hadn't noticed the space. Worked for me this time. The "Harry Potter" look is definitely not for me, but I do like how they work.

The Township just came and cleaned out the storm drain right beside our house. The puddle was stretching all the way across the road to the other side and the drain couldn't keep up. Every time we complain about the drain we are told our road is in the long-term plans for renewal. It must be a very long long long-term plan.

Apparently the rain is attributable to tropical storm Nicole. Just a few more millimetres of rain and our region will set a new record for rainfall in the month of September, the last record being set in 1945.

Tony Curtis, whose dark hair and good looks made him a Hollywood star well before he became an accomplished actor in hit movies such as "Some Like It Hot" and "The Sweet Smell of Success," died Wednesday night at his home in Nevada. He was 85.

Curtis, one of the biggest box-office stars of the 1950s and 1960s and one of Hollywood's busiest playboys, died a natural death due to cardiac arrest with his doctor at his bedside in Henderson, Nevada, outside Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner's office said.

The handsome leading man starred in more than 140 films including the classic gladiator drama "Spartacus," and he received an Academy Award nomination for 1958's "The Defiant Ones."

Hi Viv.

We are now under a rainfall warning - 50 mm to fall by midnight. Our basement is now under water in certain sections. It's not a finished basement and I call it "the dungeon", so we're not in danger of losing anything valuable.

I remember as a child thinking what a "hunk" Tony Curtis was.

Morning all!
I've said that before but it was actually the middle of the night so I'm saying it again.

RIP Tony Curtis and may no one release an unauthorised biography... my wish for everyone in the public eye.

Theresa, we didn't complain personally but someone must have as something similar happened here. We usually get a puddle that stretches across the road if it rains more than a sprinkle. They council in their wisdom came in with back hoes and reshaped the sides of the road from gently sloping to mini-cliffs. I'm watching them erode away each time it rains...

Yes, Suzy, we keep telling the Township that the drain's location is not the lowest part of the road, and the drain holes are too small. This has been going on for years. Now we just call them when the puddle gets too huge and they have to come and clean it out. Sometimes if a car is speeding a bit and they hit the puddle, the water will actually splash onto the side of our house, which is about 10 feet from the roadway.

Yikes! You are close! This intersection doesn't end up being that close to anyone's house because of the angle that the 2 roads meet. We're on a dead end street that intersects the through road at about a 30 degree angle.

We are on the corner of an intersection. When we bought the house we didn't realize that the property taxes are based on frontage, so we get zapped almost double what our neighbours do. The things you think to ask about when it's too late, huh?

Splotch is still very timid, but he's starting to come out from under the day bed to explore his surroundings. We have one cat (mother of two other ones we have) who seems to have a soft spot for him. If one of the other cats chases Splotch she goes after them with a vengeance. I guess once a mother always a mother. He goes to the vet Saturday morning for his shots, checkup and deworming treatment. Then we'll set up another appointment for his little "operation". We haven't told him about that yet! He is such a little sweetheart ... he likes to curl up on the couch with hubby.

My vote is I don't object! A good laugh unexpectedly is a good thing! On one condition of course, your other posts don't go away.

Our property taxes, or rates as they are called, are based on the undeveloped value of the land - except when it is developed the value goes up. In the US I think they are based on the amount you paid. Here your property is revalued every 3 years. So Nan and Pop who bought their beach front house for $40K 50 years ago now pay rates on $800K...

Viv, Mitchell is very smart. He is in 8th grade and taking a math class that is usually taken in 10th or 11th. He is getting High school credit even though he is in middle school.

Some people just love to hate! Venting here...

There's a hoax going around that muslims are praying on streets and blocking traffic every Friday night. Just yesterday I read about this - once a year on a special holiday with all the required permits etc etc, been happening for over 20 years. Sigh. Fear can make people believe anything.

Tami, if that keeps up with Mitchell he'll be one of the younger ones in university. Congrats to him!!

Theresa, what I find really sad is that my once tolerant niece is being sucked into all this rubbish. The 'Islamification' of the world (is that right?) We have to stop this kind of evangelism bla bla bla... They were praying on a special holiday for crying out loud!!
