Zusy, it is the law that you should pull over at the sound of sirens, pity they could not have another car to book those incosiderate #@%$
When you start to froth milk 1. have a steady hand to hold the jug 2. use skim milk it froths easier 3. I found holding the steamer head just under the level of the milk helps....JD and I did run an all day breakfast cafe for a few years. PS: I learnt the hard way and had lots of hot milk with no froth
Oh dear St Kilda really needs to pull their finger out soon or Collingwood will be smug for another year

Broni and Suzy ... They will have gotten the license plate numbers of the jerks who didn't get out of the way. They'll probably receive citations in the mail.

Viv - loved the Paddy jokes!! Sorry things are so difficult for you - I hope you manage to work things out where you keep your spirit, confidence and independence.
Rolanda - sorry about the broken engagement, but agree with whoever said, better now than later.
Re DLS - we don't have it here either but now the debate starts. I'll say no more lest I go on forever!
Suzy - be a love and make me a cappucino, thanks! My son-in-law makes the best cappucinos I've ever had and he just uses a foamer.

Back from our day at the beach! Haha! What a wet, cold, miserable, unseasonal day!
As we were driving down in the pouring rain today, I felt so sorry for the tourists in the transfer coaches from Brissie Airport to the Gold Coast - they were looking despairingly out of the windows thinking - this isn't what I expected!!
Ah, Queensland - beautiful one day, perfect the next, - wet and miserable today!!

Broni and Heidi, I think the sirens here are not as loud as the ones in LA. I am sure I heard them from further away over there. Maybe if they turn them up?
Chez Cockatoo!! I hate you!! I'm supposed to be there.... I don't really hate you, I'm just very very jealous... I will try frothing the milk next time I go out. I am being trained up for the special events at the end of the year.
Cyn, at least you didn't get sunburnt. See, a silver lining...

I know everybody loves koalas, so to most people this will sound awful, but we have a koala somewhere in our backyard and it's stirring up all the neighbourhood dogs. I wish it would go into the nature area/park a few houses away. This happens occasionally - I suspect the poor thing got lost and can't find it's way back in the dark - our dog is barricaded from that area at night so I suppose it feels safe here, but we don't have any eucalypts so I guess it's trying to get safely to one. Hope he/she settles for the night. We'll look in the morning and if it's still here we'll call the Wildlife people.

Morning all, busy day here. Over to help my daughter in a few minutes with the morning chores, vet appointment for Splotch at 9:00 and then grocery shopping. Yeah.
Yes Julie, it's shingles my sister got the shot for. Thank you, thank you, thank you ... it was driving me nuts that I couldn't remember the word.
Bean and Brenda, feel better soon. Heidi, ouch.
Tami, happy birthday. Mr. Tami, happy birthday.
Am loving the jokes and true stories. Thanks everyone. Off to get the day started, be back later hopefully.

Feet are feeling a tiny bit better. Walking on them isn't quite as painful. But I'm not up to going to Lincoln Days. I'm SO glad that the Lion's Club decided to skip the float this year.

Poor Splotch - turns out he has feline AIDS. We have decided to put him down. If he was an only cat it would be do-able, but there's a chance he might infect our existing cats through a bite (like the fight the other night) or even through grooming. It's not fair to our other cats to keep him, and it's not fair to shove him back outside with winter coming on. What a decision! Vet has suggested we bring other cats in in about three months time to be tested, especially the one who had the fight with Splotch.

Theresa.... It was the kindest thing to do for Splotch. You gave him a chance at a good life, then, once you discovered this awful disease, you didn't let him suffer a slow, agonizing death. Hopefully, the other cats are OK, especially his nemesis. The problem with having a big heart is that it gets broken easily.
RIP Splotch.

Suzy, I agree wholeheartedly with your vent about people who do not yield to emergency vehicles. I too have seen people just continue on their merry way, ignoring sirens and flashing lights. I wonder if emergency vehicles could have cameras that could snap the license plates of offenders, and issue tickets. Would people be more considerate if they knew it would cost them if they were not???
Julie, nice to know I am not alone in not sampling fancy coffees. Thanks for letting me know that we are a party of 2 at least. But I do like my coffee, made my way hehehe.
HI BEAN, hope you feel better soon. Chicken soup can help, enjoy.
Broni, Hope you enjoyed your football game. Tonight hubby and i will be watching American football, college level, as the University of Alabama plays University of Florida. Always interesting when both teams are from the southeastern conference.
Time to turn the page, so posting this from 374 so I do not loose it. Hugs and extras.

Heidi, Splotch is still with us until Tuesday (which makes it even harder). The vet's office phoned about his test results just when they were closing so we couldn't get him in. Poor little guy didn't stand a chance, did he? I have a feeling that may be why he was dumped in the first place. So I'm going to give him as much loving as I can in the next few days so for at least once in his life he'll feel special.

It's raining here still - no gardening - drat. I'll just have to stay inside and enjoy the quiet.
It's also raining in Coffs Harbour. No baseball. Hubby has to work out something that doesn't cost much money to keep the girls entertained. I said TV is free...
Theresa, I'm so sorry about Splotch. I hope the other cats are okay.

Theresa, sorry to hear about Splotch. As Heidi said, it is for the best not to let him suffer.
Hubby and I are going out to dinner with friends in a little while. It is an all you can eat sushi/Japanese place that has come highly recommended. I will tell you all about it tomorrow.

Thanks for the wishes for Splotch. If he was an only cat I would keep him, but I have to be fair to our other cats.
It has turned very cool here. It is going down to 3C tonight with a RISK OF FROST. I'm not ready to hear those words yet.
Made supper for hubby and my daughter. My SIL is gone for the weekend and my daughter's MIL took the girls for the afternoon/evening. I will go back over to her place later to give a cat his medication and do whatever else needs doing. She has been really really sore the last few days and has been spending most of her time lying down. It breaks my heart to see her like that.
Tomorrow we go for a drive with my MIL. I think the timing is probably good for viewing the changing colour of the leaves as they are dropping quite rapidly. We had an early spring, so I guess the leaves are dropping early as well. I think we will be spending our Thanksgiving weekend cleaning up the yard. Tomorrow's weather is sunny with cloudy periods (no rain) with a high of 11C, so it should be perfect weather for a drive. Yes, I said no rain. I have been waiting a long time to say that. Don't let me down weatherman!

Teresa, enjoy your drive tomorrow. I am putting in a good word with the weather man, requested no rain for your trip.
SUZY, Nomnom was a bad kitty, uprooting your violet, turning things over. What to do with a kitty who does not like to be alone? Get a playmate and run the risk of having 2 cats who do not like being left alone??
Time to fling food. tonight is baked spaghetti, from the leftover sauce of last night's spaghetti. Will not take too long, just heat it and melt the cheese.
Hugs and extras till later.
