Had a REALLY great conversation with my dad last night. I need to vent, so bear with me.
As you all know, Darrell is the breadwinner in this house since we moved to Utah. I appreciate how hard he works. The problem is, when we are home together (Wed, Thurs, Fri) we spend little or no quality time together. WE have no kids, so I don't understand why. He spends ENDLESS hours on the pooter (FB and the games) I've told Darrell how I feel about this, we're going to discuss it this morning (before I go out with Janet). My dad is concerned and was a GREAT sounding board. He sensed something wrong as soon as we started talking. I wish he was here and not in Florida! I would've given him a HUGE bear hug.

I need more coffee, so I'll say bye for now.
By the way, Heidi, I'd give IH a few choice words if it was me, too. Is justifiable homicide legal there?? Just kidding.
TTFN everyone, HUGS!!

Suzanne, hope you manage to sort things out with Darrell, he probably doesn't realise that there is a problem he is just chilling out in his free time from work. Try and find something new that you can do together on one of the nights.

Suzy if hubby wants to be friends on FB then get him to send a request. FB suggested I might like him as a friend as we were mutual friends.

Suzy is Dana still working?
If she is maybe suggest that she should start and pay board as she isn't going to school. If she was living in a hostel I'm sure that she would have to pay some sort of rent. If she is going to school then you will still support her and she gets to have her earnings to herself.

Vicki, congrats for April first and having a tradie. A qualified carpenter, yeah! I just saw a state sponsored advertisement on TV, BUILD ALABAMA, giving hourly wages of tradies ( love that word) and trying to encourage more young people to go into the skilled trades. Not enough of them doing so now.
June, happy hubby make it home safely, this seemed a very fast trip. To bad he forgot his meds to sleep on the plane, I could not sleep on one without taking something.

Rolanda, good to see you, I have not chatted with you in so long. Hope the new baby arrives in good condition. Know it is a concern, and being flown away from family is hard on everyone.
Heidi, not the disaster you foresaw, but bad enough with Gil disappearing just when he was needed. I am not surprised. Your poor foot! I just let out a big sigh when I heard he was going to help, did not really believe it.
SUZY, I am sending hugs to you, sweetie, I know this situation with daughter is just too much. Take care of you dear. You cannot change her behavior, you can only change your reaction to it. Believe me, that can be a big help in your getting through this. I have put that to good use a few times myself.
I have not looked at the eagle cam, but am sure I would also want to go brush away the snow.

Suzanne, sorry to hear about the problem with your hubby and his inattention on his off days. At least you know where he is, if he is in front of the computer, you know? I hope he will listen with an open mind and understand your needs. Do let us know how it goes, I will be checking in today to find out.

Gekko all....
Suzy... Brenda has a good idea. Dana is 18 now and should have some new rules set for her. She needs to get more of a taste for the real world. She's legally an adult now and should not be able to do whatever she wants free of charge. I agree that going to school and getting passing grades should be the exception. You and hubby are going to have to show a united front and use some tough love. By letting her do what she wants to, you are creating this monster.

Another bull calf born last night/ early morning. That's 21 live calves, including the stubborn one in the barn. I've decided to practice some tough love on him and let him get hungry. He needs to start taking a bottle. Neither of us is happy with the tube feeding. He is not getting his morning feeding today.

I woke this morning to find AL had been sick overnight, and not called me. He reported nausea and vomiting and diarrhea. He has a temp, not yet to that 101 when I must call the doc. I am giving nausea med to him and working on some fluids, I want his brother to take him early to his appointment today and tell them he needs to see the doc. Maybe they can figure this out. Please pray he can make this next 2 weeks of radiation with no more breaks.

A message from MizT's sister....Al is back in the ER.
Al started having trouble again last night in the night. He didn't wake Tricia, so she found out about his trouble this morning. He was coughing up flem and blood. Also had some vomiting and diarrhea. When she checked his temp was 100.6. His temp got up to 101.7 at home later in the day. We've had lots of rain & when Roger (Al's brother) tried to take him to hospital, they couldn't because the roads were flooded. They called 911, and the ambulance got in, after waiting on firetruck?? (I think that's what Roger said) to verify that the road was OK. He just arrived at the hospital a few minutes ago, so we know nothing yet. Tricia rode in the ambulance with him. Joy is planning to go to hospital after she finishes her work shift. Thank goodness she has moved back to Alabama. Been here a little over a week. I'll let all of you know more when I hear. Please keep Al and Tricia in your thoughts.

Suzanne - I hope your talk with Darrell goes well. I have a similar problem with Col where he works long hours. When he comes home he either gets on FB or turns on the TV and promptly goes to sleep, or he just goes to bed and I rattle around on my own. We had the 'talk' and now try to have some 'us' time. Money is short but we try to have dinner out at least once every 2 weeks (vouchers and special offers help). On the weekend we might go and have a coffee together or just drive around - it's amazing what you can see of interest in a place you're familiar with. We just have to consciously spend that quality time together and enjoy ourselves - then the rest of the time is easier to cope with.

Suzy - charge her board and lodgings for the days she's not at school. Simple - you either go to school or you get a job! Isn't that the law about leaving school now?
As with Brenda - I got the friend suggestion yesterday for your hubby. (Col and I would also be happy to be his friends if he wanted.)

Apparently I've made her feel unwelcome, I guess telling her off for taking her sister's stuff without asking, not picking up after herself, and skipping school means more than her party, her new glasses etc...

Suzy, she will wake up one of these days. I agree with the others, charge her rent if she is not going to school. If she goes to school and gets good grades, she gets to stay rent free.

Suzy,
Big Hugs. I don't know what to say. As adults we know that she is going to regret the actions that she is taking as a "cool" 18 year old. Tough love sounds the way to go.
