Hi everyone, have had a busy day today so this is the first chance I have had to look in. Still have two pages to read so just thought I'd add my two cents worth before reading.
Had a lunch gig to go to, but this morning was yet another wonderful sudoku treat. Judy, Cazablanka and I drove down to meet up with Katitude and her hubby from Brisbane. I had met Kathi before and we get along like sisters (sisters who like each other that is!). Unfortunately some locals were unable to make it. Lizzy has been crook, Kate is on her way to Sydney, and Bean had a family brekky gig so couldn't be in two places at once.

I've got a headache now. I just drove home from a Pride thingy - 45 minutes of country roads waiting for a kangaroo or wombat to pop out in front of the car...

Good morning friends!
...and what a nice way to greet the morning...reading your story, Theresa. It was lovely. Thank you for sharing it. I choose to believe it is a true story!
Tami - so happy to hear of Mitchell's successful day! Such an honor to be part of it through your postings. I agree with Heidi - it is your IU loss to be such a butt. So childish!

Gail - such a happy meet! I hope you gave Kathi a hug for me. I get to see her in person in late June when she and Robert come to stay with us. Then we will travel together to Keith and Lynne's to celebrate the 4th of July old fashion style in Willits.
Suzy - hope you stay safe from Roos and Wombats, but hope you have some sightings!
Heidi - congrats on the canary egg...keeping good thoughts for a healthy hatching

Going to be watching football playoffs today...that and more Australian Open action. Love it when there is lots of good sports on TV. Of course, I won't get much done, though.

Good Maen everyone! Woke up a while ago after ANOTHER rough night of sleep.
TTt: Glad everything went smoothly yesterday (except for IU--seems like everyone has someone like that in the family.) For us, it's Darrell's brother Terry.
Vici: Pretty avatar!! Are you in Northern Cali???
Had more to say, but NEED the coffee!
TTFN everyone, will try to pop in later.

Spent an awful night.
Massive thunderstorm. Fortunately, I saw it coming on the radar and had Dennis
tranquilized in time. A bunch of the other Collies get scared by storms, but they don't lose their minds like Dennis. They just pile on top of me, shaking. It's impossible to sleep with 5 shaking Collies on top of you.

I need to make a run to the grocery store, then get ready for a state Lion's Club
meeting this afternoon.
IH is still sick. He didn't even feel like going to church! For him, that's big. I'm kinda enjoying this. For years he's been totally unsympathetic when I was sick, since he was always in perfect health. I'm not giving him the sympathy he wants.

Heidi, checked out the link. It was funny except for the part about Pete whacking the skunk on the garbage can. Maybe somebody should whack Pete!

Suzanne - I'm in the central eastern part of CA (kind of) ...about 45 minutes from Lake Tahoe (which is directly east of us).

Theresa.... I thought that was the funniest part. Picture Pete, in a thick greenish haze, tears in his eyes, going... whack... choke... whack... choke... while the skunk more than retaliates with each whack. Maybe you have to live in skunk territory and know the little blighters, but it's physically impossible to get any real power going while being sprayed. You're too busy choking. All he did was get the skunk mad. Never a smart thing.

Heidi, trust me, we live in skunk territory. We have skunks that feed at our cat station each summer. We pass them on the way to our garage ... they just watch us. If we take too long or come too close they start hissing and stomping their feet as a warning. We have tried to get someone to remove them but our province has a law that skunks can only be moved a maximum of 1 kilometre from where they are currently, which means they could easily find their way back. The only other alternative is to have them euthanized and I don't think that's fair to them. So we tolerate each other. Hopefully some day a cushier place will come along for them and they will waddle along.
Wikipedia says: "Skunks are reluctant to use their smelly weapon, as they carry just enough of the chemical for five or six uses—about 15 cc—and require some ten days to produce another supply." I guess Pete must have gotten all 5 or 6 in a very short time.
Great news about the canary eggs. How long does it take for them to hatch?

Greeting s friends, just checking in after reading. Heidi, what happened to the injured dog? You sort of left us hanging on that one.
We are " rained in" again today. Left going to church, turned around when the only available road had water rising on each side, only a one lane dry spot in the middle, this about a block long. More rain was falling, about another 2 hours of rain, we did not want to get 'rained out" and not be able to get home. So a qwuite morning. Hubby in his office working on some drawings for a customer. Me reading, cooking and computering, while warming my hand.
Temp went UP over night, with the damp south wind blowing in forcefully. Rain was coming up from the gulf, had one tornado warning for our county, but south county and we ar north.
Screech Cat wants out, and she will not hush till I get up and open the door. silly kitty! Scooter kitty is aasleep up on the computer tower. I had to come turn on computer and sit a spell, she was ready for her nap. would not leave me alone, so to get some peace, I come get on the computer. It is like geting the baby to sleep, you do what you must.
I have forgotten some of what I read. broni is on her boat, Vici ahd snow and power is on and off, Heidi has eggs in the canary nest and a lions club meeting, Denis was tranquilized. some storm, huh Heidi? I think you got more thunder than we did but we got more water. Teresa has grand daughters and banana muffins, Suzy has a headache, get better soon sweetie, and Gail has tears in her eyes.
I remembered a little, hugs to all and back soon.

Off to get the groceries. Will have my grandchildren again later so my SIL can pick up my daughter from work. There is freezing rain predicted and I would rather the girls not have to go out in that (it's about a 40-45 minute car ride). See you later.

Theresa.... I've been in the middle of one of those spray-fests. Skunk spray point blank in my face, and all over me, and I did nothing to start it. If I was dumb enough to get a hold of an upset skunk, I'd probably whack it on a garbage can myself. Anything to stop the torture.

I'm glad hubby doesn't come here or he'd tell you all a skunk story from our pre-K days.
Sorry about the bad night of sleep for so many people. I slept like a log.
Heidi, the word hypocritical came to mind when I read your IH comment. He must go to sleep at church.

Hi everyone.
Vici, Suzanne is in a little town north of SLC.
Heidi, are you going to wear your lion hat to the Lions' Club??
Brunch went well today. Leaving in a few minutes to pick up some cousins. Another cousin is taking us all out to dinner tonight. Since I have a van, I will drive. It will hold all 7 of us. Hubby is going to climb into the back with the boys so I can chat with my 3 cousins, all girls. Their hotel is about 5 minutes from me and our other cousin lives about a 45 minute drive. It will save a lot of gas and they won't get lost.

Tami, from here it sounds like you are creating some wonderful memories this weekend...
I've just been listening to the videos of the girls singing last night and have discovered two things - 2 weeks is not long enough for Ally to learn 18 new songs and sound good singing them; and an American born girl trying to put on an Aussie accent to sing G'day G'day sounds more like a really bad cockney accent! LOL

Have not had time to read.
I gather everything went well for Mitchell and Tami.
Yesterday we took the two boys to Fairy Park and they had a great time running ahead. We could not keep up. (we also had their father to chase them so that made it easier)
The 4 year old has had a temperature for a couple of days so his mother has just taken him to the Doctor so not sure where we are going today yet.

My nice news is that when Ken arrived he had my birthday present with him (he was overseas for my birthday and I had not seen him for two weeks).
I now have a lovely pair of Ruby Earings that he bought in Myanmar.
Home on Wednesday and then it will be a busy time getting ready for Egypt.

Suzy, I think it was a big ask, so many songs in such a short time, I still applaud her effort. Love the other pride girls comment on the other place.
MizT. lovely to hear from you. I sure wish they'd fix that road. We live in an area of dirt roads too and at times they become impassable with ruts and pothole the size of small cars, but we are on such a slope that we don't have a real problem with settled water. Ours is more the washed away type of problem.

Canary eggs take 13 days to hatch. The female should lay 1 or 2 more before starting to incubate them.

Our driveways used to be a morass of potholes. Every time I filled them with #3 rock with dense grade on top, IH would drive down the driveway at 50 MPH and make more potholes. I finally had enough and had the driveways paved. What I did was have a talk with the County Judge-Executive, and he gave me the name and number of the company that does it for our County. They very nicely fit me in as soon as they could, and I am thrilled with the job they did. It wasn't a small job. I had to pave 1/2 mile of driveway.

Thanks Heidi. I've never seen tame baby birds, it must be a terrific sight. Hope you get to take some pictures.
Grandkids are gone home and I'm beat. If I had half their energy, my house would be spotless. Think I'll make it an early night.
