IH just left on a 24 hour trip. He has a fever of 101.5℉ /38.611℃ and is achy and shivering. I personally think he's an idiot for traveling when he's sick.

Hello, All! I hope everyone is well!

It has been a busy couple of days, so I have several pages to read.

Hello, Heidi, Theresa, Suzanne, MizT, Vici, Brenda, Suzy, Tami, CynB, Gail, June,

So glad all went well, Tami!

I enjoyed your "ranchin'" story, Heidi, and your story, Theresa! Thanks to both of you! Certainly brought tears to my eyes! It would be wonderful if it's true, and I choose to believe it is. Heidi, I went on to read the skunk story. I also believe it is true!

Thinking of the Northern Lights - I saw them once and didn't know at the time what I was seeing. In the last couple of months I have seen listings for cruises or land trips to view them. Sounds like a great idea - except for one thing. I hate the cold, and the winter months are when they can best be seen. Guess I'll have to satisfy my desire to see them with online searches.

So glad you have both power and snow, Vici!

Do you have more canary eggs, Heidi?

Welcome home to Ken, June, especially with such a nice birthday present for you!

Theresa, you and June sure keep busy with the grandies! I just wish ours weren't about 1500 miles away, and with grandie #3 due in early/mid March!

Heidi, shall we wish IH a safe trip?

CynB, any chance you could pick up some groceries for me, too?

My friend's box says the same thing. She is probably only reading and not posting.

Julie, I think it might be a bit better. I stopped wearing that brace, do believe it ws more harm than good. Stopped the exercises to let it rest, and it seems much better. I started back VERY slowly tonight. BUT I am typing with 2 hands tonight.

I also wish they would repair those roads. they keep trying, just no place for all that water to go. the road is below thelevel of the pastures it runs through, so all the pastures drain into th e roads. Dirt roads that have been graded and graded again over many years, and they are now cut below sourounding area. big help to the farmer and his pastures, keeping them drained for him, though.

this flooding came about maybe once or twice a year in a spring rain storm, or remnants of a hurricane. Heck it never flooded our roads for years , during out drought. Now we get flooded routinely. I read last summer we would have a wetter than usual winter, in the farmers almanac. I think the farmers were right.

Julie... I have been flat on my back in 2 foot deep mud, both socks and boots buried deep in the mud and my muddy bare feet up in the air. Going after a newborn calf that went under a fence onto a neighbors property. The mama was hysterical, and I had to wrestle with the calf thru' the mud. Once I got the calf back with mama, I had to search for my boots and socks. I had just had a hysterectomy and appendectomy less than 2 months before. It was a delightful experience.

So sorry that the road keeps flooding - any chance it will get paved? But I suppose the level of the road would need to be raised some before paving. Otherwise, the farmers fields would drain both water and dirt onto the road!

Take care with your hand, MizT! Don't over-do, just take it easy! We want you to be able to keep posting!

Heidi, enjoy the 24 hours or so while IH is away!

Heidi, that "ranchin'" story could have been written about you! Or, maybe it was, and the names were changed to protect the innocent! I know you always do what needs to be done for the animals without thought of yourself! I hope you're able to laugh at some of the escapades when you look back on them!

Heidi, I should also ask how your hand is doing! Are your wearing the cast/brace? You need to be healed soon for this year's calving!

I only check Facebook once a week or so. Marianna was on while I was there, so I chatted for a minute or 2. They are now in the new house, but her hubby is back to doing more traveling for his job.

Julie... I can pretty much laugh at all of them. I survived 'em all.

The hand is steadily improving. I spend less and less time every day wearing the splint. I only wear it now when there is some risk of hurting it.

Be sure to keep it protected when it needs to be, Heidi! Your animals count on you being sensible and there when they need you!

I'm going to need to say Good Night, as I have a relatively early physical therapy appointment tomorrow.

Good Night, MizT! Good Night, Heidi! And Good Night to your dogs, when you feed them!

The best to everyone as they check in over the next 24 hours!

Afternoon all!
Just home from having a cup of coffee with hubby. It was nice to get out and not play chauffeur. So over the kids, can't wait for them to go back to school. I don't usually feel that way so must be teenagitis...

Glad to hear hands are feeling a little better and hope they stay that way and continue to improve.

Had a very brief chat with Rolanda while I was out playing chauffeur today. The lap top came in very handy! I wish we had that fast a connection at home!!

One of the lawn mowers traumatised himself today. He decided the dogs' water was closer than his but managed to catch his halter on the tap - ripped his halter/thingy (really should learn the proper names for horse thingys while I am babysitting them), broke the tap and scared him half to death! I managed to get the broken thingy off him, but he is very jumpy.

It's called a halter. You got it right, Suzy.
How bad was the damage to the tap? Buddy (my favorite horse) has done that several times, without being traumatized in the least, and busted the hydrant so badly that the plumber had to dig the whole thing up, repair the water line and replace the hydrant. I learned how to build a horse proof barrier that humans could negociate.

Heidi, he ripped off the turny bit of the tap. He is usually quite calm when you approach him but today since the 'accident' he has been very nervous. We can usually walk right up to him, but not today. Some gentle words and we can get near him, but not for long. I spoke to him lots and was then able to take the halter off him, but he is still skittish.

One of next door's dogs has been crying on and off for over an hour. I hope he isn't hurt. I thought it was ours at first and kept trying to sneak up on them to see what was wrong. I've only just realised it is next door!

Family anecdote from today:
Ebob says she will have to buy that pair of earings for a friends little brother as he has the poster on his door and will love it. I suggest that perhaps that isn't a great idea, does she know what it means. No, she says, why, is it rude? Let's just say I don't think you should buy him the earings I answer and if anyone asks you about it, say no. So what was on the earings?

The number 69.

June - your ruby earrings sound fabulous! ...and now Egypt is just around the corner. How exciting!
Suzy - love the pictures of the girls - I would have a hard time learning that many new songs, too.
Julie - always love your summaries! Thanks!
Tami - sounds like the weekend was a huge success and loads of fun for all.
Suzanne - one of our past SA buddies lives just north of SLC - marianne. She hasn't posted here in a bit, though.
OK - off I go down the mountain in the rain (yes rain ) to do the major shopping (Costco, etc.)
Hugs!

Good Maen everyone!
Vici: I am 32 miles southwest of SLC. In the middle of nowhere. We have an Albertsons, Wal-Mart (which I HATE!!) and 2 years ago we got a Home Depot. Sorry it took me so long to answer your question...
Hello also to Gail, Suzy, Heidi, CynB, Julie and anyone else I missed.
BTW, what's Australia Day?? Is it like our Independence Day here in the US?

I've just taken delivery of two new sofas, my next problem is... how to get them upstairs. One is a bed settee and is destined for my bedroom, to be used when we have a few guests staying over. The second is for my craftroom/office. The delivery guys wouldn't take them upstairs for me.

Why wouldn't they take them upstairs, Brenda? I thought that was their job? Can you complain to the manager of the store you ought them from?

No all they will do is deliver them into the house, would get no where trying to complain.
I have put the smaller of the sofa's into my lounge for the time being and Callie made herself at home immediately. Fortunately we bought leather for that very reason... it is easier to clean than fabric (I,ll put a photo on my page)

Hello everyone and Happy Australia Day.
It has been ages since I have been here and I would never catch up with all that has happened. So I will just say a big HI to you all.You are in my thoughts daily.
Judy is Ok...wearing the wig now which looks very good.More chemo on Wed or Thursday.
My son and DIL's marriage is splitting up..the one with the 3 boys.It has been a very upsetting time for all but probably for the best.My son would not be the easiest person to live with which I hate to admit to.I love him dearly but you can't tell them how to live their lives.
Work is OK and the course is taking up all my spare time.
Take care,catch you next time.

It sounds like the best thing for all concerned, Nola. The 3 boys don't need to be around parents that stressed out. They're the only innocent victims here.
