Hi all... Hope your all having a great whatever.
Tami & Bobbi - I do hope he is on the road to recovery very soon.
Bean - that sounds like a great idea, morning coffe and paper in bed, but it means I have to shower and dress to go and get the paper and by then the mood is gone haha.
Hope to get in the garden soon, and don't worry I will just be tinkering, nothing major.
HAVE A GOOD ONE !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day/night. I am going to sleep early, I did not get much sleep last night. Thanks for all the thoughts.
Rolanda, don't forget to take care of yourself while you are taking care of Mum.
Lizzy, hope you are feeling better soon. Have you called the doctor to ask why you are still having the discomfort?
Bean and Lizzy, I also like to have coffee and read the paper in bed. My kids don't give me a chance to.

Good afternoon everybody....
I just love the way our chatter bounces from the other page and back here... that is where I commented about my Sunday ritual: coffee and the paper in bed. Having the Sunday paper delivered is my one splurge for the week... rather extravagant but if I had to get dressed and go out to get the paper it would ruin it for me too. Not much joy in going back to bed once you are up...
Big hugs Liz... blame it on our chat at lunch... 'heavy' topics can leave you like that and we covered quite a few if I recall. The other thing you need to bear in mind are all the drugs you have been on... anaesthetics, analgesics, even more analgesics, antibiotics, [happy pills, unhappy pills, beans... you need more jelly beans...]
Getting them all out of your system can have that effect so blubber away and get it out of your system...
...and now, unless I can justify wasting some more time here I had best go hang out the wash...
Enjoy your weekend everybody.

BTW Liz...I've always allowed 3 - 6 months for the residual swelling & discomfort from all my surgical misadventures to pass. The swelling / pressure sensation you have may well just be taking what seems a little longer because that is an area where the slightest swelling has mega impact. The inflammation associated with the healing process may be all that is causing that sensation and if that is so it will settle. Does ice help? Keep us posted.

Great advice, Bean. Also, you need to remember that the thyroid can affect your emotions, Lizzy. You've just had a goiter removed. I would expect your emotions to get a bit out of control for a while until everything in the neck settles down. And it will settle down eventually.

I'll be seeing Mike (Doc) Wednesday for dinner. Can't wait, he's like another brother to me. Wish he was going to be here for the holiday, but he's not. That's all I can remember to say for now. TTFN everyone

Afternoon all!
I have to brag and I can't brag to anyone in the real world because it would be sooo rude! You guys will excuse me I hope, and I hope nobody from Pride comes here to visit...
Today Ally was singing and forgot some words in one of her songs. I instinctively said out loud, it turns out that I actually said it to complete strangers, that the girls were so tired, they hadn't got home from performing the night before until after 11. The people asked the usual 'is one of them yours' question, and then said 'she's the best singer'. I puffed up! Of course it's not really true, but hey, I'm her mum and I can puff up if I want to!!

Now I feel all dirty - like one of those horrible stage mums!
Poor blonde girl is still playing a waiting game. Last night I 'nagged' her and said that since nothing else worked I'd give that a try. Today I 'bullied' her to see if that would work. I also gave her a list of 10 reasons why her new (very boring, very restricted) diet was a good thing. I think next time I see her I will 'beg', playfully of course. Anything to lighten it all up for her.

Bean, 3-6 months? I expect immediate recovery! Anything less is unacceptable!
Liz, if you feel like crying, have a good cry! I maintain that as long as they don't get in the way of getting things done, they are good for you!

ha ha...of course it is unacceptable Suzy... problem is the body will heal at its own rate and will not be rushed... have also discovered that the older you get the slower it gets... throw in the odd undesirable pre-existing condition and it seems to take for ever.... SAD....isn't it
What else is sad...depending on how you look at it... is the fact that I had a leg of pork in the oven before I found out I would be home alone and dining on my lonesome...BIG decisions to be made... become Miss Piggy and eat the lot [smelling good.. that might win] or plate up a couple of meals for ron... would appreciate that tomorrow... not having to cook... DECISIONS..DECISIONS..

News story of the day - reducing carbon from moo burps with garlic! If every cow on earth were given the supplement every day, carbon emissions could be reduced by two billion tonnes each year.

I got my Christmas cake and two Christmas puddings made today. The house has a lovely Christmassy smell. Almost a couple of disasters but I think I corrected them OK.
The cake had 1 1/2 K of mixed fruit and I took a packet of sultanas out of the cupboard and started mixing with other fruit I had already weighed out. That was easy to remove most of the sultanas. Then I put double the amount of butter needed in the pudding mixture. I add some more breadcrumbs to counteract the extra butter so they should be very buttery puddings! I do not think I was concentrating properly.

Liz, I agree with Heidi, having the goiter removed will probably affect you emotions for a while.
Suzy, you have reason to be proud of your girls. We like to hear what they are achieving.
A lovely evening here but I still have a bit to do as I have a couple of very busy days coming up. Bowls Christmas party on Tuesday and I am in charge of the entertainment.

Hi friends - wow am I glad I told you all about my tearfull episodes, as I feel much better with all the possible explanations, although I must confess, I cry at the drop of a hat anyway.
used to say to Lenny when he was upset with me for crying too much, to treat it like a radiator overflow,if the overflow gets blocked it will explode.

Hi friends!
Sorry I haven't been here for a while - that Farm on Facebook really gets you in!
Hope everyone is doing ok - Liz, hope you're feeling better/happier soon. I really enjoyed my excursion to meet you and Gail and Bean - I had a lovely time. :)
My arm is out of its plaster, and I'm not using the sling any more - seems to be getting stronger and more flexible every day, but it does ache quite a lot, especially at night.
Trying to catch up on all the goings on ...
Rolanda, I'm glad your Mum came through her operation so well.
Heidi, that's a lovely story about the horses - I'm so glad you're keeping them together!
Just watched a new episode of Dr Who (think we've missed a couple? - darn those overseas trips!) - The Waters of Mars - very portentous!
Now I need to head off to bed now - might take a couple of Panadol to ease the aches so I might get a better night's sleep - Good night everyone!

Sweetest of dreams, Ditzy Dizzy Teary Lizzy. I loved your radiator analogy, also...so very true.
Having spent one-on-one time with you, I think you are one of the most kind hearted people in the world. I use to feel ashamed of how "over sensitive" (what I was ALWAYS called!) I am. Not only cry at the drop of a hat, but wearing my emotions on my sleeve (no poker for me!)
I consider it an asset now, and I love your beautiful bleeding heart, Lizzy!
That being said, I do hope your discomfort eases and I think that it was well said to consider the emotional source of the thyroid. BIG BIG HUGS to you sweet lady!

Suzy - you have every reason to be beaming with "pride"
June - I can smell your kitchen from here...ahhhhhhh, yummy! You can NEVER use too much butter!
I'm having a great time in Davis with Vickie (the other Vickie!) - we've seen the movie "Brothers" - SOOOOOOO good! Can't imagine it not being nominated for many academy awards.

Good Maen everyone. Warning came too late Vici!! We got at least 5 inches of the white stuff here!! I am NOT going out to shovel, too cold (10 degrees!!!!) and my hair is still damp from my shower. It took all my energy to go feed dopey dog (she's in the garage). Darrell can shovel (or use snow thrower--probably more likely) tomorrow morning. He's on overtime this weekend. Gotta get another cuppa coffee. (and breakfast for myself) TTFN

Suzy, you have every right to be puffed up. I enjoy hearing all the proud mommy moments here.
Lizzy, I have a thyroid condition and when it acts up, I become a lunatic. I will say and do things that I would not usually do.
Judy, glad the arm is doing better.
June, some kitchen "accidents" come out wonderful.
