It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Heidi's alarm went off.

June, I sometimes think of visitors as a good excuse to get the stuff I've been putting off done...

Rena, I missed you up there, will go to look at your photo.

Nola, your home, they will soon fit in and get used to your noises.Otherwise it will make things hard for you and as much as you love having them there it will not feel like 'home'.

A 5 hour drive in the heat is like an 8 hour drive in cool weather. Very tiring.

Rena, your winter photos are amazing!!! That's your view?? That's the kind of view I'd like to see when on vacation. Living in that kind of cold, well I'll have to think on that one...

Nola, I don't know about guests, but I am vewy quiet in the mornings so I don't wake the kids early - eats into my quiet computer time!

But they will have to get up in 12 minutes, and I will have to push the hot slidy thing over school uniforms...

Good Afternoon. Just stopped in for a few minutes. Still have a lot of work to do on the computer but I had to stop and catch up for a minute.

How are you doing Suzy. Make sure the hot slidy thing stays on the clothes and off your arms. I think Ebob and Ally are old enough to learn how to use. Then you won't have to anymore.

Good Morning SA8, hope you are all well.
Cool, wet thoughts for the Victorians, looks like it will be another bad day for everyone there.

Hi Tami, probably missed you by now. If they could move faster than snail pace I'd get them doing the ironing... it's all I can do to get them out the door in time at the moment!

Hi Broni, I read there could be another bad one too, particularly tomorrow. We have another overcast drizzly day here, and I'm wishing I could send it down south.

Broni, sorry about the tooth. Hope it is not too bad.
Suzy, have them get their clothes ready the night before. It saves a lot of time in the morning.

June, you would love either one of my girls. I pick them up, put them on their backs in the crook of my arm, just like you would hold a tiny baby, and they love it. I did just that first time I held them, that is how I chose Scooter over her litter mates, she just melted into me and purred when I tipped her on her back like that. All 4 of the kittens were well accustomed to me holding them like that before they left here.

I have one more kitty story, kitties and snow make for good stories, but I will save that one for tomorrow.

Broni, hope the trip to dentist is not so bad today.

HI Tami! will you be introducing your sons to the hot slidy thing soon? My daughters took over the total care of their clothes by age 13. It only took them being unhappy with Mom's laundry service once, for me to introduce them to the washer and dryer!

HI RENA, I need to go look at your photos. I know our little 3 inches of snow is nothing compared to yours, but it is a rare event. Heck, so rare, the TV weather forecasters were on full time this morning, showing us where it was snowing and how much and announcing what would be closed today.

Snow is almost melted now. Sun came out and it did not take long.

The thermometer says 36 F, but it feels a LOT colder... probably because of high winds.
OK.. NOAA says the wind chill makes it 29 F. I think it's windier than that here.

I just spent some time out on the little tractor.... no cab..... and it always feels 10 degrees colder up there. Which is nice in the summer, but miserable in the winter.

MizTricia, Yes, I will teach the older one how to use the hot slidy thing as soon as I feel he will not try to burn the house down. He is starting to learn how to cook. He will learn how to do his own laundry, sew on a button and repair a seam. I want my boys to be self sufficient. I know how to change a tire.

Taking a coffee break...

Tami, I have never changed a tire/tyre. There are only 2 times I would have needed to. One was on the side of the 405 freeway in CA with Ebob 3yo and Ally 5 weeks in the back seat, definitely not the time or place to try, AAA was very helpful there! The other time hubby was with me so he did it.

My mother on the other hand changed a tyre for a couple who didn't speak English in the middle of nowhere with no cell phone reception. She is in her 60s.

The CA experience was 'interesting'. I continued to drive, dropping bits of rubber along the road, until I got to one of those wider areas near an off ramp that also had an emergency phone. The person on the other end of the phone was very relieved to hear we had AAA and transferred me. While I was talking to AAA a man stopped and offered to help. The woman on the phone told me to tell him to get lost, go away, leave right now etc etc. I very politely told him that AAA said they would only be a few minutes and he left. Why would I want to be rude when it was just as likely that it was not a psychopath but someone who was trying to be helpful? AAA came quickly, by which time I had removed both strollers and other baby stuff from the trunk. The guy changed the tyre then left! Old tyre, strollers, everything, still on the side of the road...

New story of the day, because it falls into the D&D category and might make you smile....

US suspect applied to join police
During his arrest, Mr Montillano asked if he would still be able to take the exam.

When told that he could not, he then asked if he could re-apply and maybe take the test later, Mr Gonzales added.

Suzy, it's always sad that the 0.01% of strangers who mean harm means that we just can't trust anybody.
A few have asked me about the flood photos. Our home doesn't look like that anymore!!!! It's pretty much back how it was apart from the paintwork and s shortage of furniture. The masonry block walls were mostly there when we bought the house. Hubby just knocked down some of the interior ones, and made new ones to create a bedroom and bathroom.

Well finally back, with a swollen mouth and minus one tooth, the anesthetic has not worn off yet so feeling no pain. Thanks for all your kind thoughts. It took the poor guy over an hour to get it out.
Heidi, seem to be making headway slowly with Bella although she has started woofing at any movement out in the street now, I have six foot high fences so she really cannot see what she is barking at and it is only when I am home.

Broni, take pain killers before the anesthetic wears off! If it took the dentist and hour to remove it you are going to HURT. Ouch.

MizT, I have always loved daylight savings too. I was curious as to why some Western Australians were so adamantly against it, and then my mother moved west, not all the way to WA though, same state as me. Although she is in the same time zone as we are, her sunrise and sunset are significantly later. I'll be sitting in morning sunlight and it's still pitch black where she is. It all made sense then.

Thanks Zusy, already have taken them and he has given me stronger pain killers if it gets worse. Hey I am the bigest chicken around when it comes to pain.
BTW whoever asked, no the painting is not finished on the boat but soooo close, had the weekend from hell when it came to the boat, oh well just was not meant to happen then, my HP had other plans for me.

I've never understood Daylight Savings. If you want more daylight hours to do stuff, get up earlier. Ig children shouldn't be waiting for school buses in the dark, start school an hour later.

I'm glad Broni. Was the tooth impacted?

I was lucky when I had my wisdom teeth out. One side effect of my long-ago accident is a 'reduced opening', meaning I can't open my mouth very wide. That meant my teeth were taken out under a general anaesthetic - only way to go!
