It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Things are definitely quiet here today/tonight. Hello! Is anyone out there? Maybe everyone else has a life?

Hi all. Sorry about not being around and making you worry. Things have settled down here and hope to be around more.

Haven't even attempted to read all the pages I've missed.

Hope everyone is ok.

Hi Becky, no have not sold it yet (it can take ages) but did take her out over Easter, really missed being out on the water. Still trying to sort out some health issues, may take the boat out for a day cruise if I feel a bit better this weekend, the weather is perfect today.

Broni, sorry to hear that you're having health problems. Is it the same thing you were dealing with before?

The back is doing better than it was this morning.

I need to feed the dogs now . It looks like Lady (the last rescue collie added) will be leaving soon. It seems that her handicapped owner is doing better than expected, and will be leaving the nursing home. I will NOT miss Lady. I have lost count of the number of fights she starts every day. Nor do I like being bitten.

Things have been a bit crazy here as well. Most crises have ultimately been relatively minor over the long-term, though troublesome when first encountered. Sometimes we have time to keep up-to-date here; sometimes we don't. Life goes on.

Heidi, sounds like she's a real "b." Did she bite all the time?

Julie, I can handle a couple at a time, but when it rained this time, hail was in it.

Yes the same thing Becky, they still don't know what is going on, so I just need to get off my butt and live my life despite it.
Heidi, glad the back is a bit better, Lady does sound like a handfull when will she be going?
Hehe yes Julie, life does go on in spite of us.

She snaps at me regularly, and has bitten me 3 times now. Once seriously. She is not happy away from her owner. Hopefully she'll be able to stay with her owner for the rest of her life. Lady is already 11, so doesn't have a lot of years left.

I'm sorry I haven't been commenting much - was on the phone with D2. She called at the end of tonight's performances. She plays in the orchestra that accompanies competitors when they play their concerto in the Cliburn Piano Competition. This time they have a live stream on the internet, so I've been able to watch/listen to some of it.

Heidi, I knew Lady bit you, but I didn't realize it was often. She is an old lady who obviously doesn't understand what is going on. She probably thinks it's your fault that she isn't currently with her owner. I wish them both well.

Broni, isn't it amazing how far medicine has come - yet they still can't diagnose and treat so many things. I hope you'll feel better soon. Enjoy your time on your boat when next you can take her out.

Heidi, if she was younger, she could be broken of biting. I've broken that habit with a couple of dogs (and kids).

Julie, what instrument does she play?

I was surprised how often I could see her. I expected the cameras to focus entirely on the pianist. I had forgotten that in a piano concerto, there can be rather long stretches when the pianist doesn't play, and many times when the pianist is playing, the orchestra is silent or playing very quietly.

You got it, Julie. She doesn't understand why she's being kept away from her owner. Collies are very protective of their human families. Her owner was ill and in trouble, and instead of being able to protect the owner, she was taken away and placed in a new situation.

D2 is a cellist; D1 is a violist in an orchestra in another city. (The parents are NOT particularly musical, though we enjoy music.)

Of course, you understand that I wasn't GLUED to the live stream. I had it on and listened, but found time to pop in here and do some puzzles, then pop back to the video and see what was happening.

I've always wanted to learn to play an instrument, but my fingers are double-jointed. Oh well, I still enjoy listening to others.

It continues through Sunday, I think. They even show the dress rehearsals. There are still some solo recitals, and all 6 competitors each play one more concerto.

I played the flute from 6th grade through college. (Don't be impressed. In college I was in the band for the music majors 2nd or 3rd instrument, but it earned 1 hour of A each semester. I only marched in 1 football game, but got to play in the pep band for basketball games.)
