Oh my goodness! Heidi, it's just past midnight here, and you've already gone to bed! What's the world coming to? Did you remember to feed the dogs?

Bean, thank you for the continuing travelogue - both for Rola, and for your trip in the 80's. I think I'd like to see the warriors, as well. I'm not sure about visiting China, though, as I like the comforts of home, and I'm not so sure that they have come to every city/village I would want to visit if I went all that way.

Tami, I hope you feel better tomorrow and can stop the coughing. (That reminds me of a groaner of a "scary story" learned at camp that ended with, "Stop the coffin; stop the coffin; get Smith Brothers Wild Cherry Cough Drops." (I went to Girl Scout camp hundreds of years ago.)

I have been gas bagging all over the place... it isn't completely all my fault because everyone has been encouraging me!!
I've been posting Rola's itinerary everyday and it is stirring up the old memory box...think tank...its certainly been making that lonely little pea up there rattle around a lot...or is it a Bean up there...
BTW...do you like Pea & Ham soup? Thinking of making some and I need some encouragement...

the neighbours have gone away for 6 weeks and I have free use of their bins while they are away... their green waste bin is full but it will be empty for next week so that will give the carpel tunnel a work out... filling two bins.
Hard rubbish collection in a few weeks so should be able to get rid of plenty of junk....

We had a great weekend, thanks for asking. The drives there and back were no dramas (if you don't include the fact that we nearly got T-boned twenty minutes from home!).
We finally did the touristy thing and went to Monarto Zoo and had a fabulous time. We spent Saturday evening with Bill and had dinner with him, and Sunday was the family gathering.
Our youngest und schveetest was with us, and she 'met' members of her dad's family that she hasn't seen since she was a babe in arms!
It was a near impossible task trying to get the whole clan together, and unfortunately one of hubby's sisters couldn't make it and we haven't seen them since his mother's funeral in '06. Now though, the time of year has been cemented in concrete so we all know to leave that weekend free each year for the pilgrimage.

OOPS! So sorry Suzy. It would appear I forgot to inform all of my upcoming absence!
My mind was on so many other things last week that I didn't check my checklist, and one of the things on there was definitely tell my SA friends that I will be away!!!

Hi everyone! I seem to have taken most of the day doing Sudoku - I must be the world's slowest! Just catching up on the reading - Welcome back Gail!
Are we all comparing car sizes? Sounds like a competition - haven't tried a mattress, but we can fit a bike in the back of ours. Or a Christmas tree (but not both). :D

Thanks Suzy for questioning when Gail said she was going away as I couldn't recall it either.
Sounds a great weekend Gail, wish we had a family who want to get together annually. Some of my family only get in touch when they want something.. usually to borrow money
Bean it sounds as if you are having a good old clean out, is this all in honour of Vici's visit or is it something you have wanted to do for a while and the visit has pushed you into it.
I think it is fantastic that Gail is helping. Sometimes it takes a fresh pair of eyes to help decide whether or not to keep or throw things away.

Brenda, thanks for the update - I was wondering and didn't want to ask. It doesn't sound much better, possibly a little worse? It just makes a bad situation worse to know that it might have been different if the docs had listened.

Brenda I started trying to blitz the place 2 years ago and I have scarcely managed to keep up with or maintain the status quo... Work, study, ill health and family matters has meant that things have got out of control...just a bit... I thought I would have it all sorted within an few months of my mothers death but not so...At least I was able to ship the wheelchair and commode over to my MIL after mum died... but now I have a case or two of mum's stuff still to sort...
It has really been bogging me down for ages and Gail very kindly offered to help keep me motivated and to stop me being so overwhelmed by the massive task. Today I have been working on one of the junk rooms [bungalow out the back]...there are boxes in there that haven't been unpacked from when we moved here 16 years ago...out of site & out of mind I think is how it goes...
I asked Gail to put something in there the other week to get it out of the house and she laughed at me!!! She is very cheeky! I have been turfing stuff out of there so I can move stuff out there to get it out of the house... yes... there is a trend...
I figure that anything that has sat out there for 15 years and not been missed can be thrown out! I like to put a lot of stuff out when the council has its hard rubbish collection... people pick over it and a lot of it gets recycled. I have brought home some really good stuff over the years... LOL... Drives my husband demented!
Vici said she would help me sort out my house when she gets here and I know how she sorts things out...she opens the bin and chucks everything in... I MUST get it finished before she arrives or our friendship may not survive her visit!!

Bean, I know exactly how it works, out of sight out of mind. It has taken three attempts over 10 yrs to sort out the 'junk' in our attic. There is still stuff up there that really should go but we haven't the heart to get rid. I've been giving away lots of things on a freecycle site on line. We post a message sayin g what we have to give away and wait to see if we get emails from people who would like them. Better than putting it in landfill.
The 'old' bedroom furniture from D#2's room is about to be put up today.
