It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

Suzy, I found the recipe for the chocolate ripple cake with Mr. Google's help. I haven't found an equivalent cookie, though. I wonder if World Market carries them.

Hi everyone. Sorry I disappeared again. Here's what was going on this last time.

Back in November our niece and 2 nephews opened a dog sitting business. Anyway, her daughter was bitten by a dog and was hospitalized when it got infected. I replaced her at work until she got out.

My SIL had her hip replaced for the 2nd time. The first was recalled. Spent time there.

Hubby had jury duty and hijacked my pooter when his laptop bit the dust. When he was chosen to sit on a trial, I didn't have the heart to ask him to put it back with my stuff on it. The reason being he was being eaten alive by the trial. It was a child molestation case involving 4 little girls.

Anyways, I hope that nothing else happens soon. I've missed you all.

World Market has Arnott's chocolate covered biscuits, but not the chocolate ripple. Oh, well.

Wow, I come back to find a TOPP and more importantly, BECKY! Hi, Becky! OMG, Becky, what a tough few months! We are SOOO glad to see you back with us - and hope the rest of the year is uneventful!

Becky, I have never heard of a hip being recalled. That must have been really tough to go through the surgery a second time.

Thanks Julie. You and me both. Doesn't it seem like when it rains it pours?

Those were just the highlights. Other stuff happened, but nothing that really mattered.

How's your hubby doing after sitting on that jury? Please thank him for accepting the duty. It's so important to get regular, normal people to serve on a jury!

The maker recalled it last year, but she wanted to wait because at about that time she had holes drilled into her other hip to try and get bone marrow to grow there again.

Has your SIL finished her physical therapy and healed from the second replacement? Hopefully you and hubby have stayed healthy through all of this!

He's almost "normal." He said that he'd rather sit through an armed robbery or even a murder trial than go thru that again.

She'll know in a few months. She said that if it didn't, she'll have it replaced too.

Oh wow! I just called in to tell you all that despite feeling yechhhh!, I am still in the land of the living. And what do I find, our Becky's been here. So nice to see you posting despite the ups and downs you've had in recent months, Becky. Hope SIL and her hips are on the improve and I second what Julie said about your husband serving on that jury. It really must have been harrowing. Welcome back.

Sending positive thoughts for your SIL, Becky. I guess I can understand how your husband felt about the trial. It seems like a really despicable thing - and to have to hear evidence. I assume the children were not in court, but were they required to give testimony on tape - or maybe too young even for that?

CynB, thanks for the welcome back.

Sorry to hear that you're not feeling well.

Thanks about SIL and hubby. They're both doing better. She's mobile and he's no longer talking to himself.

Julie, it all happened about 4 years ago. One girl is now 16, 2 (twins) are 14 and the other is 11. The first 3 testifed and the 11 year old cried on the stand.

It was about a week and a half. He was so mad at the detective. She lost all the interview tapes and some of her hand-written notes.

Afternoon all!
Becky, what a hard time you and your family have had. I can't imagine what it was like sitting on that trial. I feel for the children, your husband and the other jurors. What a horrible world this can be for some people. I also hope your niece's daughter and your SIL are on the mend....

Hi, Suzy! Thanks for redirecting my thoughts. I forgot to ask about the niece's daughter.

How awful that the detective lost her interview tapes and some of her notes. I hope that didn't have a bearing on the outcome of the trial.

Hi Suzy. Everyone seems to be ok now.

Great-niece is out of the hospital, SIL is mobile and hubby is back to work.

We were talking about the trail a few days ago and I told him that he might get called again after 2 years, but he won't be placed on this type again. I think that gave him a little peace of mind.

A friend of ours was on jury duty recently and got selected on the panel of a molestation case to his horror. At the last minute the perpetrator (the father) pleaded guilty thus avoiding a trial. He was ever so relieved.

Just passing.. not long back from taking Mum home, and doing my Grocery Shopping.
Hey Becky, long time no chat!!
Stephen got a letter in the post this week for Jury Duty. He will sign the declaration form to say he is unable to serve.. The week he is called to serve is right in the middle of Uni Semester.

CynB, lucky fellow. We think the guy decided to go with a jury since so much time had passed, a "boob" for a detective and no physical evidence. I did ask hubby if he believed the guy did it and it wasn't a knee-jerk reaction. He said yes. The girls didn't remember a lot of details, but what they did matched.

Have a good nap and feel better, CynB! Hi, and Bye, Rolanda! How is your Mum feeling? One of our daughters who is home for a few weeks also received notice of a call for jury duty. The date is a few days before she leaves, but hopefully she will not be seated for a long trial.

Things have been going well here. We have been with older daughter & her family about 1 week a month this year to help out. Previously, we would go once every 10 - 12 weeks or so, but they have needed our help more often. It feels like things have been neglected at home, as we never quite finish what needs to be done before we go back.

Julie, she can tell the court that her job is out of state and that they want her there. That is if she doesn't want to do it at this time.

Becky, I hate to leave you hanging here, but it's nearly 11, and we have an early morning tomorrow. It's so nice to see you & chat. Hopefully you'll be able to do that more regularly. It's kind of quiet tonight -- too late for Tami, and probably MizT, and I think Heidi hits the road tonight to go to Florida for FionaFest. Mamacita has been having computer problems, and is also planning to go to FionaFest. Suzanne was getting ready to head to Washington state for a house search. Please take care of yourself & I hope to see you here again soon.
Now, I really must head off to bed. Good Night!
