I've finally caught up on reading - so many comments noted....
ants in the jug you said Suzy? I will only buy jugs with firmly fitted spout covers. My SIL used to have a floppy lidded jug. She poured everyone water for coffee at a party and a thoroughly boiled baby frog plopped into the last cup.

I am going to bed to the sound of rain on the roof. we are still under a tornado watch till 3 am. Al can watch for tornadoes, I am going to sleep! Really, no severe weather anywhere now, so the danger is minimal.
See you all on the flip side.

Suzy, we have had the same sorts of problems with thoughtless young people over the years. All I can do is hope that my own kids know better. (I think they do)

Still overcast here, but no rain. We have had some rain but we are below average. Because Sydney is also below average and pumping out our water our river is in trouble again. They take as much as they need and say, sorry, but we need it so tough. Our river isn't as important as the bigger rivers, but is being destroyed in exactly the same way as they have been.

The orphan drank his bottle like an old pro. He'll be fine. He's in my orphan pen, which does have a good shelter. I bedded it with shed wool that I saved, so it's toasty warm and smells like sheep to him.

I'm going to a wedding tomorrow.
Do you remember me telling you about the fire in some friend's hog barn, when I helped rescue sows
from the burning barn? Their only daughter is getting married tomorrow.

Wanted to tell you that my kids' school has raised $1800 for the bushfire appeal despite our own losses. Makes me proud to be a parent.

Susan, that is amazing! What did they do? I don't know how much the local high school raised. They had a day where the kids placed gold coins end to end and last Friday they had a mufti day.
Ebob was shocked at the clothes some of the girls wore. Phew!

Ebob's 'party' went well. I sat in a park and read and browsed through the craft shops while they ate. They then walked in the park while I read some more. Then they asked if they could go into town. I said fine, I'll have a cup of coffee. A looooong time after I had finished my coffee they appeared - can we go to the mall. Yes, but I'm going home! Then I looked at the time - I would have been home for 15 minutes and had to head right back again. So I walked around the mall too, though not with them. They smiled and said they had a great time.
There was one bad part. We have always had a good experience at the restaurant I took them to, but apparently their rice was 'crunchy' and the food not that great. Ebob has eaten there several times before and said it was nothing like what she was used to. Did they take advantage of a group of teenagers???

Forgot - Ebob was given a T-shirt by one of her friends - I kissed a vampire and I liked it. Even knowing that it is referring to Twilight I'm not really comfortable with it.... do I really have to start letting go a bit now she's 16????

Yeah you do Suzy. Sorry. That's life. But just a bit at a time, not all at once. hehe
Our senior students bought red roses in bulk for Valentines Day, then sold single ones after they'd put ribbon etc on, plus a free dress day to raise that money. Kids are doing these things all over the country, which is why when people say that teenagers are no good I disagree.

Suzy, I think it is Ebob's decision if she wears the T shirt or not. If you say nothing you might find she does not like it anyway!
Heidi, enjoy the wedding. Pleased the lamb is doing OK.

my grandson in Melbourne (6 1/2) lost his two front teeth and the tooth fairy money went to the bush fire appeal.
I have been trying the Baby powder for the ants which get into the cat food (outside). The ants all go when the talk is fresh but are back a day or two later. Generally ants inside mean rain is on the way. Guess it is taking a long time for the rain to came, Judy.

Hi June - just doing a few puzzles before bed.
Our ants seem to be coming in through tiny cracks that have opened up during all this dry weather - as soon as we block one crack, they find another. I've even had them inside my dishwasher - I can joke about it, but it really is driving me crazy!

That reminds me Suzy. At Son#2's 13th birthday party, his same aged friend turned up wearing a tshirt that said "I don't care what you have to say, just show me your t**s". I sent him home to change. I still can't believe his mother let him wear it. If my 20yo son wore that shirt, I'd rip it off him! (Not that he would)

Was it your grandson's choice to give the money to the bushfire appeal? What a great thing for a little boy to decide to do! I guess we don't have to tell you that you should be proud of him!

Susan, good for you! That's a totally inappropriate thing for kid to be wearing. Or anyone, for that matter - shows a total disregard for just about everything worthwhile.

Did more work in the garden today - loving this (slightly) cooler weather! Then Rob came out and started working too - we got a lot done! May have to hire a skip to take away some of the stuff: big lumps of concrete some idiot left all around the place; the kids' old swing and climbing frame (treated pine, so it can't be recycled); and lots of other junk. Had to cut back a lot of the smaller trees/large bushes - they shrivelled in the heat and look almost dead, poor things! Only allowed to water the garden twice a week between 6 and 8 am - dragged myself out of bed this morning and managed half an hour. Better than nothing I guess.

Evening folks...we have just arrived home after attending the 21st birthday celebrations for the son of a very close friend of mine [I've known her for 30+ odd years. Her hubby and Pete went to primary school together ... I don't think I know anyone [other than family] that I've known for that long...nearly 50 yrs. Lachie is good friends with both of her sons which is really great.

Well hello March!
Can't believe 2 months are down already!!
Re the ants....I don't do a lot of ironing and the last time I put some water in and turned it on I had ants spilling out everywhere!!! Not as bad as frogs but not particularly good for you ironing all the same. I place large amounts of antrid in old jam jar lids and leave out for them...works for a few weeks or often much longer.
