It seems that SA7 is getting old and slow. It is time for a new page. Welcome to SA8.

OMG, the street I grew up on (from 8 to 18) has made the 'latest' news on Yahoo. It has changed so much! It was a family area when I was there, you know the kind of thing - push bikes being ridden up and down the street on Xmas morning etc. Mum moved in 2000 because it was getting too rough. These days it seems like it is more than rough, it is downright dangerous. Very sad.

Yikes, all my amusing anecdotes and sharp witticisms lost in cyberspace! Is anyone else having trouble posting? (And no, you can't prove they weren't brilliant, 'cos they're GONE!)

RAIN RAIN GO AWAY!

It has rained steadily for hours. we have had over 3 inches of rain. I have a sheet of water running across my entire back yard. We are on a hill, so it is not standing, just flowing past. I am sure the 2 creeks we must cross to get to the main road will be out of their banks soon, if they are not out already.

No end in sight for the rain and thunder, on through tomorrow night, when it will turn to SNOW! some weather!

Al came in and woke me from a lovely nap this afternoon to tell me there was a tornado warning for our county and I should come out to the dome. Yes, there was a warning for very far south of our county, no danger here, and no damage to the area of the warning. I went to the dome and got in his old recliner and dozed a while till the warning was lifted.

Now I should go and make cornbread. Hubby has happily agreed having the rest of the lunch vegetable soup is a good idea, especially if I make some cornbread to go with. Easy enough dinner.

Hope no one is having any worse weather problems than we are, nothing serious here, just annoying.

Catch you later, Hugs

I just made a nasty discovery. I was patrolling behind the barn, while the sheep were eating, 'cause I heard a lamb crying back there. I figured that it was a newborn and mama lad left it to get a bite to eat. Figuring this for a good opportunity to tag it, I walked back there. Mama hadn't left it. She was laying dead next to her crying lamb. I now have a bottle lamb.

I just discovered that I have no soda bottles in the house. I'm gonna have to drive to the nearest convenience store for one.

Hello again. I've got 2 soda bottles (20 oz). They make great bottles for lambs. I have some nipples called Prichard Teats, that screw onto the top of a soda bottle. 25 cents each. I already had some lamb milk replacer in stock.

That's a sad thing Heidi - will you have to get Mama checked to see what happened to her? :(

Probably not. That would mean a 2 hour drive, each way, to the Diagnostic lab.

Heidi had a little lamb.
It's fleece was white as snow.
Everywhere that Heidi went,
That lamb was sure to go.

This lamb IS white, too. I'll get him started on a bottle and sell him. Bottle lambs can be pests.

Heidi, what do you use for lambs milk replacement. when I was on the farm, it seems they used dried goats milk as the base for replacement formula for most anything. I know they fed a calf with it. I helped feed pups with a formula mixed from goats milk (registered mama dog had a huge litter and was refusing the smallest 2 till we started giving all of them supplemental bottles to help out). when Al found a tiny little kitten abandoned (people next door moved off taking the momma cat) he went for goats milk after I looked up the formula for kitten formula. We added egg for protein, forget if it was egg whites or egg yolks, one or the other, not a whole egg. (egg yolks, I looked it up again) Goats milk seemed very useful in feeding other animals.

Yes Kira is apparently doing really well.
She is on bottle formula now. I only have to make the crochet ties to put through the bootees I knitted for her so must make that my next job.
Well after the ironing and trying to get some more things onto ebay.

I just buy a commercial lamb milk replacer. It works just fine, and is easier than milking a stupid goat.
