What a very nice service, Brenda. I imagine in such a populated area, rats could be a big problem. If you feed them, they will come. To bad you have to rat proof your compost. In winter I imagine your compost does not stay hot enough to be unappetizing for them.

HEIDI, are you getting ready for your ice storm? My friend in Murry told me about the forecast, and I looked up your weather also. she is especting2 inches of ice and significant damage. For you, they forecast 1/4 to 1/2 inch. Hope mother nature is reading the forecast and you get only light icing. And to think, I have temps in 40's and have been out in shirt sleeves.

Vici, remain curious! It is an acquired taste and I have not known any topsider yet who really likes it.

Morning MzT! Join me in a cuppa? Hope you and Heidi don't suffer too much damage from the ice storm heading your way - they can be so dangerous!

Gail - glad the wedding was lovely and so happy you actually got to cool off from all the heat down under!
Beanie - did you get a dip in your pool yesterday???
Cyn - your sister's rose garden made me think of Rolanda's roses - I only have a few bushes, but I, too, love them!

MzT - so I hear...Darin Cahill was trying to spoon feed some to the British commentator and he was almost falling off his chair to get away from it! I think there are other Aussie delicacies I'll try first - like Timtams!

MizT it is only the third time I have seen a rat. The first time was when I moved into a new house on a new housing estate where they were working on the sewers and disturbed the rats. The other times have been here. We live not too far from a railway cutting, fields so we get them straying from there looking for food and of course with the compost bin they found a rich picking of fresh vegetable matter everyday.
They say no matter where you are in the world you are never more than 20 ft from a rat

Panda says (in the words of Rodney King) "Can't we just all get along?" hehehehe!
Brenda - sometimes I would love to send Panda to get chased - when she's being a brat!

Callie just has to hear something like a catbell and her hackles rise. Though when she saw the rat of Saturday it wasn't just the hackles rising she was growling and snarling wanting to get outside to sort the rat out.
We wouldn't let her go as we could see problems if the rat got at her ears. If she was a terrier instead of a spaniel then we might have let her try to catch it.

Morning all!
Brenda - ewew, 20 feet? That is something I wish I didn't know.... We have outdoor dogs so can't bait for them. Our vet tells us that chewing on a baited mouse is just about the same as eating the bait...

SUZY, that is a good idea, keep a graphics folder. I have mine in one, but so many other things are in that folder, it is not easy to find them. Quilt photos, family photos, I should have made a folder just for avatars and smilies.

Vici, we will not get ice tonight and tomorrow night like Kentucky. Although Heidi is closeset Sudoku neighbor, she is still 360 + miles away. It is forecast to be much above freezing for a low. Now, Wednesday night might be a bit iffy, we are forecast to be closer to freezing and rain. that bears watching.

I have futts to do, shopping trip is postponed again, this time so Al can work on adapting my sewing table to hold my new machine, and repair the floor in sewing room also. It is warmer today for him to be in his unheated shop today and tomorrow.

I might get my sewing room back soon!! I think he likes seeing me sew again

Did anyone post here on our board, Ray ray was at home for a bit yesterday? He contacted Jane I think it was. So good to hear he was well enough for even a short trip to his home to check on things there.

Keeping my fingers crossed that your sewing room is up and functioning soon, Tricia!
Suzy - your spider reminded me of something Mike was telling me about this morning. When he was visiting Ali this weekend they watched a show about caves. There was this one in Borneo that was so huge that millions of bats lived in it (I like bats, btw)...but the creepy part was that there was a 100 meter pile of bat guano in the cave and millions of cockroaches feeding on it...ewwwwwww!

The part that got me the most was when he told me about the segment where they showed the making of the film. The film crew was working in that cave with the guano and cockroaches for 5 days. One guy went in one day without his tyvech suit properly taped up and cockroaches got down his back and in his crotch. It was really giving me the heeby geebies to hear about it.

ummmmmm Everyone.
That storm is scaring the sh*t out of me. It's supposed to be really nasty. The finches are scheduled to be at the airport tomorrow night. I'm trying to get it changed to the next day. The freezing rain and ice are supposed to continue through tomorrow night.

MizT, I have dozens of folders and subfolders for my pics. It's the only way I can keep track of them all!! I wasn't always as organised and am now going back and sorting the old ones a little at a time... I was getting so many folders that I recently started grouping them under the year they were taken (where that was relevant)..

News story of the day... actually it has been around for a few days but I keep seeing the headline and it reminds me.. I like the way it highlights the differences between cultures (assuming it is true and not a manufactured story).

Police in Nigeria are holding a goat on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.

Vigilantes took the black and white beast to the police saying it was an armed robber who had used black magic to transform himself into a goat to escape arrest after trying to steal a Mazda 323.
"The group of vigilante men came to report that while they were on patrol they saw some hoodlums attempting to rob a car," Kwara state police spokesman Tunde Mohammed told Reuters by telephone.
"They pursued them. However one of them escaped while the other turned into a goat.
"We cannot confirm the story, but the goat is in our custody. We cannot base our information on something mystical. It is something that has to be proved scientifically, that a human being turned into a goat."
Belief in witchcraft is widespread in parts of Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation.
Residents came to the police station to see the goat, photographed in one national newspaper on its knees next to a pile of straw.

The finches haven't left California yet. The weren't scheduled to until tomorrow. We're waiting for a warm spell to ship the ones from Florida.
