Today did get slightly above freezing for Heidi, I checked the weather up there. Still not warm by any means, but hopefully enough to melt some of the ice and snow. As someone pointed out on easy today, icicles can be dangerous, they can fall from treees and buildings and you do not want to be under them when they fall. They can do serious harm.
So, as you can see, they will not get power back for days or even weeks, it is not gonna be over soon for them. I so wish I could somehow help them, you know? Heidi especially, but all the people up there too.

Suzy, I am sure there are other stations, they need power to operate. The government asking them to go south was small town, rural and I am sure they do not have a lot of resources. The federal government has not got there yet FEMA, federal emergency management, cause the roads are not good. DUH, they never are in an emergency.
We are told here, for any emergency or disaster, be prepared to be on your own for 3 days. That is a Joke, better make that for a week or more. I still need to add a chain saw to my emergency preparedness supplies, and I need to find some way to KEEP gasoline for generator, and kerosene for heaters. the gasoline gets used for lawnmowers and not replaced. OK, got a big tank in auto, but need a siphon hose to get to it!
I guess we shall see if this new government and this president can handle a disaster, get relief to the people any faster than George W's government did.

Have a beautiful evening Suzy.
Much nicer conditions here at the moment. Have every window and door open letting the heat out and the cool in. NOICE!
Had a very tres ples afternoon with Mary, Vic, Judy, Rob, Bean, Lachie, my hubby and two daughters. It was very stuffy inside but just after Mary and her hubby left, we went out onto the verandah and the cool change had just started to go through. SO thankful!

It was wonderful! Fantastic! Incredible!
For a lot of the show Jon was more of a compere than a participant - but the talent!!!! Incredible!! Oh, I said that already. There were 9 other people there, the youngest only 16 years old. 7 of them played at least one instrument - though one claimed not to. One guy played electric guitar, then switched to cello, then piano and he was the musical director. Two girls played violin. One of them also played piano and french horn. The other had the most amazing metal electric violin! The sound that came out of that!!!!! One guy played base all night. Then there was the 16 year old. OMG!!!! Buffed, wearing a white singlet, dreadlocks, bare feet (as did the musical director), and played base, flute and piano. 6 of the nine sang - and boy did they sing! Incredible!! There, I said it again!!

The news is saying that some parts of Kentucky might not get their electricity back for another week. Most of the state has single digit temps. Woke up to 4 F (15.5 C) here.
Need to get in gear as we have to get to the grocery. Hope everyone has a good day/night.

Thanks MizT for the news article on the ice storms in Kentucky. I haven't seen any coverage of the problem on our news.
Hoping that Heidi, and everyone else, is faring well in this and that she had got the fire working.

Vent alert!
I met some people last night at the concert. Their daughter goes to school with Ebob and was the one who was beaten up and kicked while on the ground. She is still terrified to go to school. One of the girls who was involved has finally been expelled - for wagging. It seems there's a point system like on your driver's license. The others are still at the school. The mum had a video of the attack that was taken by someone watching the fight. The whole of her daughter's life could be affected by something that some watching found funny...
