Suzy I hope to goodness that those clothes never fit me again... they are all too big. I have recently lost 49 pounds in weight and still trying (and need) to lose a lot more.
Still haven't gone to bed as you can see

Hi everyone!
Brenda - fantastic! I really admire anyone who has had the determination to lose a lot of weight - so much hard work and strength of mind is required - well-done! :)

Congratulations Brenda!

Gail, the bad ones don't care about the police. They just tell them they know they can't do anything.

Bean, you've made me decide to have a nap... after I empty the machine.

It sounds like yesterday was wonderful, even in the heat. I read that today is a little cooler - thank goodness!

Brenda, Will you teach me how to knit?? I want to learn. I am in the process of learning to crochet. When I master that, then knitting.

Good morning lovely SA7 people.
Nice photo of the gathering yesterday - glad the temp is a bit lower today. Bean - just have a rest - Suzy's going to.
Suzy - that is disgusting that the attack was recorded on a mobile. But you're right those people know that the police are powerless. When I hear these things, I just think - karma. I have to believe these people will pay in some way at some stage in their lives. As they say - it won't happen overnight but it will happen.

And speaking of karma - I have a story to tell. 20 years ago I worked with a young man who was the most objectionable person I think I had ever encountered up to that time. He would drop the magic 4 letter word in my presence constantly, even when I and other asked him politely not to. I was the only woman working with about 20 men - mostly truck drivers and blue-collar workers (I was the only clerical staff). I was treated with respect by all the others who I still think of as surrogate brothers - loved em all, my Colin was one of them. This man also picked fights with the others and was abusive to all. Eventually he took a pot shot (punch) at the boss and got fired. Last night, hubby and I ran into an old friend who also knew this fellow. He told us that at age 47, that man is dying of cancer. Whilst I don't like to hear of anybody suffering, I do wonder about karma. I think I feel sorrier for him and his family than he would if the tables were turned and it was one of us or our co-workers.
Or am I being unfair?

Brenda - congratulations on the weight loss.
My daughter is celebrating 2 years today since she embarked on her diet and lost almost 70kgs. She is maintaining now, rather than dieting but has actually changed her lifestyle and way of thinking about food. I am so proud of her and wish I could do it - a lot harder in my 60's. Congrats to anyone who can do it and keep it off!

CynB - I lost a lot of weight, some years ago, by simply changing what I ate. From childhood I'd watched my older sister struggle with her weight, and I decided very early on that dieting just didn't work, so when I realised I had a problem I asked my doctor for advice, and he was very helpful. I found some great cookbooks, kept a food diary, got some excercise, and - voila! looking good! But then - I'd suffered, for years, from severe allergies, and eventually saw a specialist, who put me on the Diet From Hell! I could eat as much as I liked, but all my low-fat options were out. The only fruit I was allowed to eat was pears, the only vegies were the bland, tasteless ones, no fish or chicken, etc. I'd have to say that I have never felt more miserable and downright depressed as I was then. And it didn't work! I was still breaking out in rashes, just as bad as before. After months of this I suddenly thought to myself - why not just stop, eat real food again, and at least enjoy life a bit. So I quit -and the really funny thing was, as soon as I stopped the diet my "itchies" started clearing up! It's been a while now, and I've worked out that what causes them is - stress!
But the bad thing is - I've put on all the weight I lost, and more, and I just can't seem to get the willpower I used to have. I've got a daughter getting married at the end of the year, and I WILL NOT be the fat mother-of the-bride! And my son is moving out in a few days, so I'll be able to limit the foods I buy and hopefully start cooking "good" food again. It's a shame we can't buy Willpower in a bottle!

Judy - If you can find Willpower in a bottle - get me some.
I went on a diet before my daughter got married, I was also going to Europe and didn't want to be uncomfortable and have no energy. I lost 27 kgs and was a size 10-12 - not bad for a 50yo. However in the ensuing years I have gradually put that 27kgs plus back on and KNOW I must do something about it but keep putting it off.
One of these days......

Sudoku Friends! Hooray! We are back at home for a week and a half - then off to help with grandies again. Haven't had time to read but a few comments. Seems that many DUGs are sweltering in the heat and humidity and Heidi is freezing without power or heat! Please, can we share and even things out a bit? In all seriousness, I'm concerned for many of you. Please take care of yourselves and pace yourselves in the heat. Anyone who has the opportunity to speak to Heidi, please tell her our thought and prayers are with her, IH, and all the aniimals to get past this difficult weather situation!

Evening all!
Another quiet day today. The extreme weather must be sending people to cooler places. That and he dreaded ffuts.

I'm sitting here fuming and wondering if we have a sentence in Australia - never to be released from jail. According to the news, and if I've understood it correctly, the fires in Victoria that destroyed 29 houses were deliberately lit!!!! So many lives in danger fighting those fires, so many memories lost for the people who lost their homes....

not that I am complaining, considering the weather in the east.. but today it was hot, muggy and unbearable.. the AC does not cope too well in this type of weather, and neither do I!!!

Thanks for that Suzy, I will pass it on. You are very kind for thinking of her.
As a matter of fact, because of the staggered start, she actually doesn't go back till Tuesday!
She can't wait though, which is a wongerful thing.

It has been a long weekend and I am tired. Ken says he is better but still spending most of the day laying on the bed. The leg is still red and he is to have an ultrasound one day this week.
Laura has now gone home. Laura and I made the cake for Sharon's birthday and they were all here for dinner..the good old leg of lamb!

Okay, how do you say hello when it is night? I say evening all earlier in the evening, but Night all implies goodbye.... And yes, I've had a couple of glasses of wine. Blush.

June, it sounds like Ken is being manly. If he is spending most of the day laying on the bed he obviously isn't better. But maybe the diplomatic thing to do is to let him be a manly man and pretend he is better - and ask him to do the dishes!
