Thanks Broni. It seems to happen when I'm not paying any attention. Maybe that's June's secret.

Heavens...another page...just flipped back and read your post Becky
Definitely the same mold he he...
I didn't mention that I have also been known to bring home other friends junk that they were turfing because it was far to good to throw out...I am trying hard to become ruthless but it is EXCEEDINGLY DIFFICULT. Thank goodness I don't have a basement!! [or an attic]
It is so good to know that I am not alone.
Have a great day. Nite

Everybody.....
I am having a good day!!
My big tractor was just returned from the shop.
IH had been driving it with the parking brake on, and burned out the clutch and brakes. Everything had to be replaced. Plus the fuel tank had gotten a crack in it, and also had to be replaced. I was expecting a massive bill, just labor alone could be nasty. It's been in there for a couple of weeks. Well, when I asked for the bill, I was told that there was no charge. The dealership was going to eat it all!!!!!
Now I'll go read the posts I missed.

Gail, I thought the word with the extra O was an Aussie slang expression, it sounds like a very good word to me. seems it is not in use, too sad for such a nice word! I will not call it's name so others can find it but send the timtam my way please!
Bean, thanks for the explanation on boxes. Glad you are getting more ruthless with sorting and tossing.
My hubby cleans by getting boxes and putting all manner of non related Items in them, puts on a shelf and forgets it. AAAAAAGH, Oh, even worse, much of the stuff is in the sack it came home in. Small bits and pieces of assorted hardware for autos and motorized lawn tools, home repair, dome building, computer repair, other electronics, and junk. This is good junk, stuff he needs. But when he needs it I hear, I KNOW I have one here somewhere, and commences the hours long search. How long he searches depends on the level of cash on hand at that moment. If we are low on funds, he keeps hunting and fuming and scratching through box after box. If we are flush that day, a cursory look, then off to buy another one, and usually a spare, that also gets stuck, still in the sack, into a box. I have tried sorting his boxes and can do a good job of it, but a week later, they are jumbled again and somehow the sacks are back. I give up! His mess, he can handle it. OH, when he runs out of storage space, he builds more shelves from scrap lumber, really UGLY shelves. those full? He builds a storage building and then another. He has his office now crammed full of computer stuff, His old office that is pretty full, and a storage building he has not been into in 2 years, plus his latest storage building.
So Bean, see what this hording of stuff can get you into? Wish I were near, we would have a day at sorting and organizing, I am good at that, had enough practice hehe. Plus I watch all the clean house TV shows and their methods of sorting and resorting.
I love the multiple sort idea best and use it here on papers and such I have stashed into my mail basket. Pick a stack of papers, do 2 piles, toss, keep. Usually I get rid of 50%-70% just removing the envelopes and the junk stuck into a mail out of bills due even. Then I sort the keep, business and household. Next pick up the household and sort utilities and other. sort the utilities down to power, phone, internet and TV. THEN they can go into the file cabinet. does not need a lot of space to put so many categories at one time. Works for me and takes less time than telling about it really.

HEIDI, wonderful news on the tractor. Happy it turned out well for you. You must have a really good dealership, and a good warranty on that tractor! Now, will you tell hubby that they covered it?

Well, I am neat and clean, time for breakfast and to start my day. And Becky, today is sort the mail/bills pile! That gets done once a month whether it needs it or not hehehe. Last month did not get it, I was otherwise occupied, recovering, so my mail basket overfloweth. Keep, toss, and sort again.

The fella is now here to put new tires on the hay hauler. He's a nice guy, but can talk your ears off. I had to escape.
Yes, MizT, I will tell him. I will also be giving him a death threat. If he so much as touches that hand brake again, he might as well move out. I don't think that the dealership will cover this again. I have maintained a great relationship with them, and I don't want to push it.

Bean, I'm a pack-rat, too. It's genetic and occupational for me. Books? (Remember that I taught reading and English for thirty years.) I've never really enjoyed modern fiction, but I've managed to acquire four or five best-sellers per year. (Also remember that this is an economically and culturally depressed area.) One evening a solution to more than one problem landed in my lap. I was talking to a neighbor who was close to foreclosure when she spotted The Bridges of Madison County (pretend that's italicized) on the seat of my car. I could feel the longing that she tried to hide as she casually asked if I'd finished it. She wanted to borrow it, but I gave it to her instead, with one condition. When she finished it, she had to give it to someone else who wanted to read it, and that it had to be passed on and on in that manner until it fell apart. I've done that with every new book (except the Potter books -- I love them) I've had since then, but with different people. Not only does it cut down on the clutter (Ha!), but I feel good about it.

i am a compulsive thrower awayer. i love empty cupboards, fridge, and drawers. rubbermaid storage boxes, with labels, neatly stacked is one of my favorite things to look at. my counter tops and table are always devoid of stuff. paperwork must be tucked in a drawer in the correct box. with 7 people living in a small space i have to be this way or it would be soooooo chaotic! i have to say tho, that since i have moved the computer upstairs, and am on it A LOT, my house has suffered a bit.

Tami, thank you for making me laugh today, I really needed it.
Looks like I have nothing to be ashamed of in my box strewn house. Those things breed overnight along with all the stuff in them. In the last couple of years we have cleared the attic out twice and have got rid of more than half the stuff up there, but it still looks crammed full. I suppose another clear out will happen soon when the builder goes up there to do the electric wires which have been chewed by squirrels. Once that is fixed he is going to floor the whole loft out so the critters can't chew wires again

Bean, we are kindred spirits. I have boxes everywhere to be sorted! Shoes go out and some clothes. I even had a ladder put into the roof so I could put stuff up there. I have about 20 years of Christmas cards (about 90 each year) to sort before throwing out. I am only supposed to keep them one year as I read them again before I write to people the following Christmas. I must admit though that I keep the lounge dining area free of clutter.

Hi June, still not certain when she will get out now. she has to do a competency test in the 'kitchen' before they will discharge her. Unfortunately that department is short staffed and her test will probably not be until next week. She was very despondent today when I went in.
How are your patients?

All...Beautiful day here and my yard looks beautiful...newly planted azaleas, old dead plants and a partial part of a tree have been removed, and my very colorful mums are looking rather perky...labor was provided by the condo's lawn folks, and of course I busied myself supervising, and watering once they completed the heavy work...now I can sit back and enjoy the results! What a life!

Bean...love you and your boxes...you have life priorities right...life is far too short not to take part in what makes it special....my personal box site is in the garage....would love to see it straight again...couldn't really put my Halloween decorations out this year because I didn't feel up to moving boxes of clothes and books to get to the boxes that held the decorations....go figure...

Heidi....What a good omen the tractor repairs turned out to be...see....good things do happen to good folks!
Good to get updates on Celia and Dino....sure am keeping them in prayer.
Becky, Sweetie, no way could you upset me....we all experience discomfort when what we say doesn't sound like what we mean...but that is just life...
Tami...I really enjoyed the dog tales...my four legged son prefers stealing socks, and I have had to pay a high price for his thefts...as had he...
MizT ...Wish you lived closer to me too...I'm pretty organized with my mess, but could always use some more help organizing...hehehe...
Have a great day/night where ever you may be...Peace!

MAMA, I am a bit closer to you than to BEAN hehehe
Bean, love you too sweetie, and your boxes would not bother me one bit. Many years ago, I had the entire household belongings of my then BIL stored in my dining room ( it was the largest room in our house and devoid of dining room furniture), floor to ceiling and we had 10 foot high ceilings! To make matters worse, we had to MOVE them, as we were moving house. Kept them in basement of my new house for more months, too. He was a 6 month guest of the Military, after he graduated college, before going back for a masters. His wife went home to her parents and a temporary job there. I had almost forgotten that, so I am sure you do not have as many boxes as we had hehe

Gail.... there was no extra "o". You left off a space and an "f".
I don't bother with boxes. I just have stacks. If I can't see it, I forget about it.
