Hello, Everyone! Guess I've spent too much time reading past comments. I have finally reached p. 130, so may be caught up by tomorrow night.

Good Night, Heidi! I've apparently missed you. Have a pleasant and restful sleep!

Hi, Broni! How are you feeling? I hope you're on the mend - or even completely mended by now!

Lachie is back from his Drama exam...they had to perform a 7' solo performance meeting a lot of different criteria.

Their drama teacher is a really top chap and he took them in and gave them all a pep talk to settle nerves etc. He warned Lachie that the judges are there to assess a students performance - and not to enjoy themselves so DON'T expect them to laugh or be amused.

To cut a long story short they laughed all the way through and found it VERY entertaining. When asked how much laughter...as much as the live audience and that was heaps!!!! I of course thought it very funny and I'm very pleased that someone with a less biased outlook could be amused. Lachie is chuffed, his parents and his teacher also!!

Valedictory dinner next week and written exams start on the 31st.

Suzy, a very pleasant night was had by all. D#1's friend didn't come for dinner, but he did turn up later. Cute too! Seems very nice...but what is this thing with caps!

I love giving away stuff too. I love seeing the boy and girl next door wearing my kids' hand me downs. I love seeing people on the street wearing clothes that I know once belonged to someone in my family, that they bought from the charity shop. I still have way to much stuff though. We put big builtin cupboards in this house, and it irritates me sometimes seeing them overful. I try to go through them shelf by shelf and sort - throw, keep, donate...but ineed to get more ruthless.

You should have all seen today's Oprah. It was a repeat, I had seen it not that long ago. It was about a couple who had been hording in a BIG way! Their kids hadn't been allowed to visit in years, they would always go out to see their grandies. Anyway, everything was removed and they threw away 75 tons of stuff that wasn't savable, and put the rest into a warehouse to sell it all, jumble sale style. The woman almost fainted when she was shown how much there was...it filled two huge showrooms.
I believe it took a team of 100 people 8 weeks to complete the job.
A lesson there for all of us!

I agree Gail. I mostly find it hard to get rid of sentimental stuff. I still have some constructions made by my lot at kindy on display in the lounge, on the fridge, in the TV area etc. Stuff I will never get rid of. I have filing cabinets and shelves of teaching stuff that I might use..... Yeah, think I'll start there. I actually enjoy throwing stuff, but seem to acquire more stuff to fill the empty spots.

Yes, so do I Susan! But I will never get rid of that pasta necklace my daughter made for me umpteen years ago!
I think the worst things to keep are the dioramas. They are already a box, but you can't put anything in them!

Susan, I find giving things away (either to neighbours of op shops) makes it easier to part with them. I cannot throw anything away that is in good condition! It's like a disease!!

Years ago, I started collecting weekly sets of animal info cards that had special ringbinder folders. They were cheap on a monthly basis, but after a while realised that I had about $600 worth, and was nowhere near the end of the series. I cancelled my subscription, but I don't think they ever were used. I had visions (pre computer days) of the kids using them for research etc. I guess they'll end up in a school being hacked up by 6 year olds for collages.

I just hung 7 kid paintings on my lounge room walls - adding to the 2 paintings and one hessian thing that were already there.... At least they're on the floor anymore!

Oh no. Where's my pasta necklace, combined with cellophane and paper scrolls? The one I wore shopping straight after kindy...don't think I've seen it since we moved house in '03. I have the same disease Suzy. Probably from being brought up without a lot of money in my case. I've also kept too many of my kids' school books.

Hmmm... scotch.... none of that in the house at the moment. Almost bought Tim Tams today but didn't because I knew the whole pack would be gone within 10 minutes of getting it in the house - and then what would everyone else have when they got home?
