Good afternoon to all. Just got home from work, put dinner in the oven, and left the boys downstairs watching a movie. I came upstairs to the pooter because I have to enter grades. I HAD to stop in here first. My students get better comments on their report cards when I am in a good mood. A glass of wine and SA6 will always put me in a good mood.

CynB, it is raining here. Tomorrow is a teacher planning day. Teachers work, students stay home. Our principal told us to expect a "snow storm" tomorrow. Her way of telling us we will get to go home early.

TTT - they call it 'Pupil Free Day' here.

Whatever they call it, I will enjoy it. It is almost like have a 3 day weekend.

Heidi, I have never been to a school that had a school nurse. I think my mother mentioned there being one at one of her schools when she was a youngun. I can only speak for my schools!

Tami I have a yellow car avatar too! Pre-kids we owned a real yellow car. On pupil free days here teachers are usually required to attend some kind of organised training - computing, bullying, syllabus changes etc.

CynB the weather here is supposed to be a little better today but has been bl... cold this week!

Suzy, we usually have meetings or training classes. Tomorrow we have meetings in the morning and grades are due in before we leave. I will finish at home tonight and be able to leave by noon before the "blizzard" At least our principal has a sense of humor.

Well that's me for the day. I have a houseful - hubby on a flexi and needing the computer, Ebob moaning and groaning on the lounge... think it might be a good day to do the grocery shopping and leave them to it!

Suzy... I MUST be a lot older than you. When I was in school, all schools had a nurse on staff. They treated bumps, bruises, strains, sprains, scrapes, splinted breaks 'til the ambulance or parents got there, as well as dispensing cough medicines, ice packs, aspirin, gave vaccinations and did triage for everything else. The school nurse made the decision whether or not a student was sick enough to go home. What do schools do now?

We had a school nurse too Heidi, I remember we used to dare each other, who could make the nurse think you were really sick and send you home as a joke,
oh brother we didnt know the story "the boy who cried wolf" as it bit us in the butt.
