JUNE, I survived the test, and will not know results till I go back Nov 10, unless it was really bad and they need to see me again for something. So no news is good news. It seemed to go OK, the part I could tell anything about at least. Thanks for asking.

Poor Laura, wanting to change beds, I think she has had too much change in her life lately. Know your entire family will be so glad when things get back to normal, or at least a lot less hectic.

That was some find on an electric BBQ. Back a few years ago, we bought an electric smoker, end of season, for $25. I thought that a great bargain. It comes apart, you can remove the large smoker oven part, and put the electric unit part up on a table, you have a electric BBQ. We really enjoy the smoker a lot. We try to keep a baked or smoked turkey , cooked , sliced and in the freezer, for fast meals. and I LOVE a good beer bottom chicken done in the smoker, yummy. I try to do a couple chooks when I do a turkey, lots of choices in my freezer! I do not use the electric BBQ much, no table on the back porch, no room!

I had electric BBQ that I could use indoors, used that one a lot. Gave it away when we got this smoker/BBQ, thinking why do I need 2 electric BBQ?? That was a mistake.

I have just seen something that I found very distressing, and wanted to share with you.
This was the article on my nine Msn home page.

Shocking new video from the Philippines has revealed the cruelty of horse-fighting — an ancient practice that was officially banned a decade ago but continues in the country's poverty-stricken rural regions.

Nine News affiliate BSkyB investigated the practice in the region of Mindanao, where dozens of horses are trained to fight before being subjected to the cruellest conditions imaginable.

The stallions are whipped into a frenzy by the presence of a mare 'in season' — and beaten and shot at by trainers if they are not sufficiently aroused — before instincts compel them to fight another male for the right to mate with her.

Animal Liberation Australia (ALA) spokeswoman Angie Stephenson told ninemsn her organisation condemned the practice.

"The idea of two animals being forced into an enclosed arena and compelled to fight and inflict trauma and injuries on each other is just appalling, especially when it's for the amusement of greedy spectators," she said.

Horses rarely fight with each other in nature, so every aspect of the practice is artificial.

The horror is compounded by the mare's fate: she remains tethered in the centre of the ring and regularly takes glancing blows from the battling males, then has to mate with the winner of each fight.

With up to 60 horses competing during a six-hour tournament, the mare must submit to dozens of stallions in a single day.

And while the practice is banned, horse fighting is heavily promoted and even televised with criminal gangs bribing police to run the shows while the bosses take the profits from gambling.

Readers who want to take action on the practice can sign a petition at www.care2.com.

Good morning all! Late start today after getting home late last night! It was cold at the game. I stayed warmer than everyone else since I had silk longjohns, underarmor, shirt, seatshirt and long coat and I had two blankets!!Brendan played great in the game. He started and played until there was about 15 minutes left. They were winning 3 - 0. Two of the defense and most of the offense were subbed to give the others time to play. Of course, they were probably frozen sitting on the bench. Two minutes later, the other team scored. I could see Brendan scrambling on the other side of the field. He had already taken off his cleats and had his warmups on. He rushed back in still tucking in his shirt. They scored another goal and then the rest of the offense was ready to go back in. We scored another goal so it ended 4-2, but the game was a lot more lopsided than the score indicates. They should have heaters on the bench so when it is that cold, their muscles stay warm. The field actually had a frozen sheen on it! We saw Brendan's old teammate, which was nice. I brought a bunch of snacks for Brendan and gave him my tv from the kitchen so he could watch the world series. Of course, Ian didn't know I was going to do that and he wasn't too happy because that's the only time he watches tv during the week, while eating.

I've had a busy morning. I had to take 2 cats to the Vet to be neutered They had to fast last night, so I had them crated. Went to load them into the truck, inly to find that one had escaped.
Then, on the way to the Vet clinic, I discovered that a neighbors horse had gotten out. This is a yearling filly that has never been handled, and is afraid of people. She was GIVEN to this neighbor (who knows nothing about horses) a month ago. I told the neighbor that I'd be back in a few minutes to help. To make a long story short, we had to make a hole in the fence (no gates on that side ), and it took 4 people, but we finally lured her through the hole, then had to repair the fence.

NOW I'm having breakfast.

Good Maen all!
Can't believe how fast the pages are adding up - sorry, but no way I'm going back to catch up. Do you realize we are closing on 9000 posts for SA 6? I was posting on SA5 for months before we needed to move!
Don't mean to complain, though, as I'm loving all the posting by everyone here...just a bit overwhelming.

OK - again I have a busy day and won't be able to be around to chat much - thanks to those of you who have been trying to reach me through "IM" - I have been SO tired in the evening that I have fallen asleep watching my beloved baseball.

Hi all. Just popping in real quick then off to do more stuff.

Suzy, a lot of times around here, they are released to their parent's custody the very same day/night. No bail. These 3 weren't.
Glad Ebob had a great day. Isn't it great to see kids so excited?

Heidi, I don't think it's always the parents fault. Way back when, I knew a guy who's parents and siblings are the salt of the earth, but he's not worth the powder to blow him up. Some kids hit a fork in the road and make the decision to go down the wrong path.

Mamacita, sorry I wasn't here to keep you company. Noticed that the Phillies won round 1. Bet you were doing a happy dance.

Tami, go to Wendy's website. They are running some kind of promo in Orlando this month. Next month it will be in Miami, Tampa and West Palm Beach. All the info is under their News and Offers link.

Liz, thanks for the lyrics. It's how I feel sometimes when I get here. No one around, maybe I should go back to having insomnia.

Gail, was thinking of Lady Godiva when I was reading the lyrics. Could just see you 3 in my mind's eye singing and dancing in Lady Godiva suits.

Becky, you answered everyone's posts and didn't include a gem of your own!

I agree some bad people come from good families, but there's plenty of bad people coming from bad families too. There's also some good people coming from bad families, but that takes an extraordinary amount of strength and fortitude - so much that many of us are lucky we come from good families as we wouldn't have been able to do what they did. (Huh?) I think that garble can be understood by those who speak sudokuspeak....

Okay, I have to do two news stories today:

SCOTCH tape is not only see-through, it can also "see through", for the product can be used to take X-rays, bemused scientists say.
Peeling tape from a roll of Scotch releases tiny bursts of X-rays that are powerful enough to take images of bones in fingers and hands, researchers have found.

http://www.news.com.au/technology/story/0,25642,24540493-5014239,00.html

Don't panic about radiation poisoning though. There are 'conditions' to this which mean we might occasionally create xrays when using tape, but it would be unlikely to occur every time..

Suzy I understand what you are saying, does that make me as unique as you are?

Heidi, have not tried to post in the last couople hours, so cannot answer. Have you thought about calling and getting excused from jury duty for now? Your Mono would make it difficult for you to pay attention to testimony. I was excused from jury duty cause of meds I had just started that made me sleepy. I did not even need a letter from my doctor, just phoned and explained.
