The cattle have been worked. We had 2 escapes... the cow with the abscess (IH told me he had locked her in another pen as I was letting some other cows out, he hadn't, and she went out with them. The other escapee was a small calf that I had to ear tag (belonging to the cow with the abscess), and as I was about to catch it in the chute, he opened up the side door in the chute and let it escape. I wasn't happy. It's my job to catch their heads in the head catch, because I have fast reflexes and never miss. IH's job is to administer the dewormer. Today he was also collecting poop samples to check for worms, which is why he had to use the side door. Unfortunately, he's careless about shutting it or opening it when a calf is barreling by.
I'm tired. Very tired. Back to bed.

Those are no fun, MizT. I hope you feel better soon.
I slept the afternoon and evening away, 'cause my back objected to me working the head catch and cut gate. But I have to do it if we want to catch all the cattle.

Dana is at a friend's house for dinner, thank goodness. Her upstairs neighbour called her to make sure she was okay as there wasa kafuffle with the neighbour who threatened Tahli. The police are coming and going and apparentlya knife is involved in some way , hopefully only as a threat.

That is great Suzy. I do hope it a school you will enjoy. So much easier when you get a block.
Picked up Laura this morning, visited the cemetery. Laura enjoyed placing petals over her mother's name plate. Then we went to Belinda's for the rest of the day.
Hope all you with Tummy upsets soon get better. It is so debilitating.
May be the new roof will sort out some of the water problems Tricia. Maybe there is a build up of water in the walls. Or else all the water pipes are cracking? Any way you now have professionals to sort those problems.
Tomorrow I have stress test and an Echo on the heart. No problems that I am aware of but want to make sure everything is OK before we go to Turkey and Greece. Not the place to get sick and we are getting older.

In class the other day a student kept playing with a phone after I had asked him not to. Hand it over I said. HHe slipped it under his leg on the seat. Hand it over, I repeated. Miss! he said with a mischievous smile. It's under your butt, not in your butt. He laughed.

June, I have started keeping a 'water diary' to document when and where water is coming in. Maybe that will be of help. I woke today to find a small spot of water again, same place as yesterday. I was told by a resident that before the roofers could start, they had to get a shop vac and remove the standing water on the roof. Now, IMHO, water should not be standing on a flat roof. It should have just enough drop, only an inch or so will do, so water will flow off and usually down a drain. Do we not have a drain on roof? Is it clogged ? Has the seal between the roof and the outside wall failed, as it would over years, allowing water to seep down cracks? today I also see water drips from above my window, falling OUTSIDE the building, just intermittent. It has not rained in over 24 hours and then only a trace. I am good at making observations, now just to get someone to use them
What a nice thing to do for Laura, with the flower petals at her mom's name plate. I know such things are hard for you, but they do serve to keep her mom in her memory in a good way.
SUZY, congrats on the long block assignment. I hope it is a good class, or you can quickly turn it into a good class. Would make your days so much easier. So scary about the ruckus at Dana's apartment building. I hope the police get it sorted, that the person with the knife was arrested, and the persons making threats removed. Let us know when you know.
NOLA, I write my comments here as we all do, but I do a copy (control C) before I post. ON my computer, that puts the post onto clipboard. If it gets lost, or is too long, I can go back to comments block, do a paste (control V) and there is my post again! Saves a lot of hassle. Of course, I sometimes forget to copy first. Others write comments in notepad or some other writing program and copy here. Would one of those work for you?
Tummy seems better today, just queasy. Itching is back again, but the red splotches are almost gone, go figure. I am just falling apart, but carrying on. I did a load of laundry yesterday. Usually I am so hurting after, and usually I do two loads at a time cause I hate laundry so. Yesterday took sister's advice, try only one load. I did, worked much better. I was tired and achey, but not exhausted and in pain, a big difference. A sit down with a cuppa coffee and I bounced back quickly. This even with the weak washed-out feeling with the tummy wog.
OK, need to get dressed and find something to do with my day. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

June.... Laura will really appreciate that as she gets older. That visit to the cemetery helped her remember her mother. Yes, its hard for you, but it's wonderful that you help Laura, and yourself, keep her mom's memory in her heart. ((((( HUGS )))))

I get to spend the afternoon moving hay. IH told me that he had moved the last hay crop off the field, and I just discovered that he hadn't. I'm not happy. I hadn't asked him to move the hay, he volunteered to do so, then lied about it. Gets me mad.

Hello all....Man, page 16 already...chatty group...as if I didn't know before...and this is a slow period...lol.
I was all by myself for a couple of days, kids went away, and boy did I enjoy myself doing much of nothing, but when and how I wanted....very peaceful. I had seen a post by you Cyn I think about a book you had finished called the Book Thief. I had just gotten it on my Kindle so have
really enjoyed it. I did understand your post before, but this book reinforced it. Thanks for the recommendation, even though you didn't know thats what you were doing.
Heidi...shaking my head thinking about Gil's need to lie about things..sad and frustrating I'm sure. Hope your back gets a chance to get better with all of the work you are doing...hard on teeth and backs. Broni and Miz T, sorry you are going through a patch with tummy problems..no fun and I do hope by now they are history.
Nola, good on you for trying to find ways to not lose post..if writing it down helps, great.
Suzy, good on you for the block of work gig. I know when I use to do substituting, long blocks were most welcomed because you could plan and carry out meaningful stuff instead of depending on busy work often left by some of the teachers. The kids usually got to know you and didn't try to pull as many pranks either...it'll be interesting to hear how you fair. Hope the police have sorted out Dana's difficult neighbors...scary stuff. June, I saw the pictures of Belinda and Laura on the ots with the big horse...so big he hid you...next time stand on the other side so we can see you too. Hoping you and Ken have a great trip...hard to travel for so long, but the perks make it worthwhile.
Well, I'm off to do some puzzles and then back to the books..I've downloaded lots of stuff I'm looking forward to reading.
May the challenges that life brings be small and help you appreciate the joys more deeply...Peace.♥

NOW I get to rest. I just got the lawn mowed around IH's office... it takes a full tank of gas to do each lawn, so its not quick. The weather forecast for the next few days is rain, so the yards both look good right now. Clear conscience, too.
I got 2 big jobs done today, so I'm putting a frozen pizza
in the oven instead of making a full meal. I earned a break, as well as a pizza, one of my favorite foods, besides corned beef and blintzes.

June - sad day for you all
Whereabouts in Greece are you going? And have you been there before? I do love Greece but maybe that's because of my ancestry. My brother and his wife have been to Turkey and loved it. Now he's retired they're off to USA and Canada in 3 weeks time.
Mama - I'm so glad you loved 'The Book Thief' - I think that book moved me more than any other I have ever read.

Easily repaired. It was because of my not knowing about a battery cut off switch, so the batteries went dead. It's running now. We don't know what caused the generator to cut off suddenly, but it may have been something dumb I did, too. Better this than complicated.
I will probably be returning to Florida in another week. Sere will be bred by then. I expect to be traveling alone, with one dog. Missy gets picked on by the other collies, and enjoys car riding, so she'll enjoy the lack of stress. She'll also serve as an alarm system while I'm sleeping.

Heidi there are so many systems on RV's that it would be unusual for you not to miss one especially if you had not been instructed on it.
Got back from holiday on Friday to find out that the new patio is going to be started this week, instead of a months time. Got to get lots of stuff sorted so the excavation work for the foundation can be done. Where does all the rubbish come from?
Also we have started moving 'stuff' into the new cabin. Unfortunately we haven't got the electric work done in there yet. The electrician phoned whilst we were away with the quote which was a lot more than we thought it would be (nearly £1000) will have to think what we can do without. this project has gone seriously over budget

Heidi, good idea to take Missy with you. You have 3 very good reasons there. How often will you have to stop for her bathroom breaks, can she go as long as you can between?
Brenda, like the cabin, especially those windows, how cheerful the room will be. If I knew, I have forgotten how your cabin will be used, can you refresh my memory?

MizT, the cabin is for general use at the moment. Hopefully we will eventually get electricity into it and will be able to use the exercise equipment. We have been thinking about putting the bed settee in there for unexpected over night guests. Again that depends on getting connected to the mains.

Evening friends. a good day today, ran my errands, went to Lakeshore, came home and got my same parking place. Marginally amazing. Parking is tighter than usual now. about 6 of our spaces have been taken for the roofing co. that is working on our building. They must have a place for their vehicles, their equipment, and of course, their porta potty. So I was most happy to find my spot vacant when I returned.
I kept procrastinating about going down to water plants, it was just after dark fore I made it. I was watching a most interesting documentary about dolphins while I had dinner, wanted to finish that. Days are certainly getting shorter. There was such a nice breeze out tonight, it was low humidity and cool, felt very nice. I would have liked to sit out a while, but noone was even downstairs in the public rooms and no one outside, so I thought might be best not to be outside alone. I did enjoy the half hour I was out watering the different plants.
TAMI, isn't it amazing how our children behave better for others than they do for us? Glad they minded their manners for their grandparents.
Brenda, having the exercise equipment out there will be very nice, and a bed for guests would be a big pluss. Don't make it too nice though, or someone might move in permanently hehehe.
Good night folks, almost time to turn in here. Come get a hug or two if you want one, I have left extras.

Sorry I had to say that, I know how much extra work teachers have to do as my daughter is a teacher.
MizT, i don't think we will put guests in to the shed overnight, one of the kids or Richard and I will give our room up for a short period. Daughter number one has offered to do it for the first guests at the end of September.

Suzy.... you must bring out thee best in the,. I bet they liked your smiling face.
Speaking of faces, remember last month when I was at the implant doctor's, they made a cast of my mouth to be used to make the new teeth, and accidentally pulled out the temporary tooth and another crown? The tooth with that crown (#15 in dental parlance) had NOT had a root canal yet. I woke up this morning with a toothache in that tooth. A bad one. I may just have my dentist pull the whole thing, and then do another implant once it's healed. I don't want to drive to Florida next week dealing with an abscessed molar.

Brenda, sorry that we are putting your daughter out of her bed. When you offered I thought you probably had a spare bed or sofa. Looking forward to meeting you.
We picked up our tickets on Monday.
Cyn, Turkey and Greece are on a Trafalgar tour so they will be all the tourist places like Athens, Corinth, Mycenae, Epidaurus, Olympia, Delphi, Thermopylae and Meteora in Greece. We will also have about three days on Santorini.
Lots to do before we go. Even have to mulch the garden etc. Clear out the fridge etc.
I have started to sort out some clothes.

Evening All,
Nothing much going on here but thought I'd check in.
So many free or very inexpensive books have been downloaded to my Kindle that are so very enjoyable...having a great time reading.
Cyn, I fully understand how The Book Thief was so touching to you...even though I have been reading so many books and enjoying them all so far, that is a book that will not be easily forgotten..the style, the subject matter and the period are all riveting and add to it being a stand out novel.
Tami, glad you were hired and have a chance to add to the coffers that will allow you to make Dylan's
Bar Mitzvah as nice as you want it to be. Today it cost so much to do things even on a small scale special. I know it will be lovely and memorable no matter what.
Hope all are hanging in there and not over burdened by life challenges ...treat yourselves as well as you treat others and enjoy all that comes your way. Peace.

Evening friends, I would call today a good day. I went downstairs for a presentation on HIV/AIDS, one of the educational programs our social worker arranges for us. to encourage greater attendance, she gives door prizes. I got a magnetic note pad for my fridge, I was down to the one now hanging on fridge. I use it for my ongoing grocery list hehehe. Then I went back to Lakeshore. I needed to get in visit #4 for this month to keep my scholarship. Came home and got the same parking place once again! I think it is overlooked because you cannot see it when coming into the lot, there is another minivan next to last spot that blocks the view of this last spot. It is in the afternoon shade, I like it.
Watered my flowers, found the geranium that was forced off the back patio is now in bud, it is getting enough sun now.
The rash is better, but still an intense itch wherever my clothes rub skin, it is madening. Steroids help, but down to 2 today, and they are not lasting till time to repeat. I did find an ice pack took the itching/burning/stinging away. That is berry good to know.
Have plans to go out Thursday PM, one of my friends made sure I signed up for a van trip to listen to some good jazz. Mamacita, will think about you, know you love jazz and rythym and blues. It is a dinner show, so will not have to cook tomorrow. Not expensive night out, I think we will enjoy it. It ws very important that I get signed up early, only room for 2 wheelchairs, and persons must be able to leave chair and walk to a table and sit in a chair there, I certainly can do that!
Tomorrow is scrabble, so I have a few things going for this week. Keeps life interesting.
OK, that is my report for today. I did read, but am fuddle headed tonight and do not remember much. Lets see. . .
Congrats TAMI on getting the job.
YEAH, June will visit Brenda while on her holiday.
HEIDI once again has dental problems, oh my. Hope you get an appointment and get that tooth out before your trip south.
SUZY worked wonders with a difficult class, they were 'the best they have ever been'. Congrats, Suzy!
Now time to get meds then to bed. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

June, belated hugs.... Good idea to get everything checked before you go. A friend of mine has horror stories about hospital in Europe, though I think hers was in Italy because it was a hospital in a mafia controlled area. They fed the patients out of a green garbage bag and they each watched the others' IVs...
Tami, Congratulations, but we may never see you again! As if you aren't busy enough! It's good news though. Just not necessarily for us.
Cyn, I'll have to read the book thief soon. It's on the high end of what I will pay for a book right now, but after a paycheck or two...
MizT, hope your tummy settles down soon, and whatever is causing your itching discomfort is soon identified and dealt with!
Brenda, one day I would love to try out your spare bed! Can't see it happening short term, but longer term you never know...
Well I have homework to do. Bye for now.

Suzy, this may sound silly but can't you check the book out at a library. If I had to buy all the books I want to read, I would be broke. Luckily my friend and I share books so that helps.
Tricia, glad you get the parking spot you like. I know what it is like to look for parking.
See you all later. Have a busy day. Have to go for my drug test this morning. This afternoon I am taking Harley to the vet. My sis-in-law is a vet so we we are going to her, even though it is 45 minutes away.

The tooth is feeling better. It was set off by a sinus problem, so when I took some cold meds, the toothache went away. I will need to have it looked at, but it doesn't have to be so quickly.
I got a call that my bull had gotten out and was in the road blocking traffic. Before I could even get outside, a good samaritan got him back in my pasture. The thing is, it isn't my bull. He's now in with Rede, and I've been calling all around trying to find out who he belongs to. Nobody claims him. And I don't want him. I've been trying to get in touch with our animal control officer, but he isn't answering his phone or returning messages. Life is never dull.
