Heidi, your snow may just be the practice round for the storm headed in on Friday. Not sure how much you will get from that one, not sure where Magnolia like on the map of expected snow, but Kentucky, especially eastern Kentucky could see up to 8 inches!

The Wednesday snow/ice hit in Georgia where some of my relatives live. Niece did not go to work, the office closed mid day, she was to work afternoon shift. another niece left work early to get over the GA foothills before the ice and snow hit. Sister said the woods around her house were white. All areas that get snow rarely. Local law enforcement said a lot of accidents from the ice on roads.

Here in Birmingham, we could get from a dusting to 6 inches. The big target area is Washington DC and areas around. They are saying two feet and more, with 40 MPH winds for them, brrrrr.

A friend reminded me of winters past, when she mentioned they would be dripping water to protect pipes. I had forgotten all about that! But back then, I did have an alternate heat source, kerosene heaters, in case we lost power. Nothing here, not allowed in our apartments. We should be OK, if forecast is correct, if we get no ice to weight down power lines or bring trees down on lines. A bit unsettling though, knowing there is nothing you can do to prepare.

We had a cold cold rain last 2 days, and this weather left me achey. I spent a lot of time in my recliner with heating pad and snuggled under my warm blankey.

June, sorry your bowls day was so hot and not fun.

HI Julie, Bye Julie. Glad you stopped in to let us know you are OK.

Suzy, hope your two more weeks with no driving pass quickly. Hang in there, find something to do till then.

Nola, sorry you lost a post you worked so hard on writing. Hope you are doing well, good to see you here.

Broni, hope the family is all improving, and will soon be ready for adventure part two.

Tanya has been out with my nephew and his wife. Jody had knee surgery, more invasive than they had planned. she needs someone with her, to help her up and down, to mind the 2 year old, and keep household running. My sister was with her 2 days, and very in need of a rest break, not up to keeping up with a 2 year old, and he was sick one of those days also, so Tanya went out and will be going back next couple of days also. I have not seen her in a week now.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

I see that you're being hammered by rain, MizT. That storm is heading right for us, but by the time it hits us, it'll be snow. It's supposed to arrive in about 4 hours.

Heidi, Our rain is forecast to change to snow in the noon till 3 pm time frame tomorrow. They are saying 1/2 to 1 inch snow for us. Of course that could change, with a system like we have, it is very hard to forecast. Tonight our temps are going UP, as the storm winds bring warm moist air up from the Gulf. Something will be falling from the sky for the next 36 hours, till noon Saturday. When it turns to snow depends on when the temps drop. I just hope we do not get freezing rain first. that has not been mentioned for us, but unfortunately it has been mentioned for some areas, South Carolina I think, with amounts from 1/4 inch to one inch of ice accumulation before it turns for snow for them. That is what brings down trees, and power lines, or trees onto power lines.

Heidi, I hope you are all prepared for the storm. did you make your appearance at the grocery for milk, bread and toilet paper? Bread aisles here were empty at times today, till trucks could bring in more and be restocked. NO I did not go out for any supplies. I have lots of colas, bottled water, coffee, half a gallon of milk plus dry and tinned milk I could make up, bread and 4 rolls of paper. Went to grocery earlier in the week, I have two coked meals, spaghetti and will be making part of that into baked spaghetti, with lots of cheese layered in, and a baked chicken. I will be able to eat, even if we loose power, and that is not expected here.

We shall have one to two inches of RAIN before the snow starts. Hopefully it is spaced out over the next 12-15 hours so no flash flooding.

Did I tell you I had water dripping from my bathroom ceiling again Wednesday? A toilet was being replaced in apartment above me, and clean water was escaping, came through their floor. Ann, my house cleaner was here, she heard it first, got a bucket under it while I phoned the desk downstairs. It stopped once they got the problem upstairs under control, but they did come and open the dropped ceiling panels, to let the water dry. 'Call me in 2 or 3 days to remind me to come replace the tiles.' OK, I can do that. It could have been worse.

Scrabble today was not in our normal place, but upstairs on 4th floor elevator lobby, where there are some outdoor type wicker tables and chairs. someone had reserved our usual meeting room for showing a documentary type movie. We all enjoyed our games today.

Hope everyone is doing well, Mama, will you get snow from this storm? Julie, I think you are too far west for this one, right? I heard Pennsylvania mentioned once, but did not catch what they said. Stay safe, stay warm, stay aware, just in case.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

The snow should be hitting us in 5 to 10 minutes. I don't mind that in the slightest... it's the freezing rain that scares me. I hate icy roads!!!!

Slight break from going nuts today. I met Kate for coffee. Yes, I drove, but not very far. I think it's about 3km. My insides are a little quieter tonight. Lately they've been jumping around, telling me to get out of the house. Tomorrow hubby is taking me out for a few hours so we can bomb the house. We have fleas!

One of our dogs died this week. We thought the other one would go first as she's old and sick. It was better this way though. When the older one went missing for a couple of days he didn't eat until she got back. She is eating at least.

It is after noon here, 1:00 pm, and no snow. It seems to be going north of us at the moment. Temp is just dropping like a rock. I cannot get my weather site to load today, what a bad time for that to play up, so I am having to watch the weather channel on TV in hopes they show radar for our area. So much other more dangerous weather, we are neglected. that is fine with me, as long as it means no snow for us :).

I think we're getting your share of snow, MizT. It doesn't worry me because we did NOT get the couple of hours of rain that they called for first. So no ice under the snow. It's hard to say how much we've gotten so far, since the wind is blowing and it's drifting..... my guess would be about 8 inches and still falling. I've heard from friends that the drifts on the road are massive.

It has been snowing here for the last 2 hours, but it is melting as fast as it falls. I did see a bit of frozen slush on the top of cars, though. Just a bit of ice/snow mixed with the melted stuff. The wind is really playing up, looks as if it is snowing sideways.

It was lovely downstairs, looking into the holly trees across the garden, as the snow blew across. Best place to see the snow. We had students from the University school of optometry here doing eye screenings. I let them practice on me . they did not tell me anything new about my vision.

Tonight I think I want a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich, that or a fried egg sandwich. Just good warming food on a blustery night.

Both foods are wonderful on snowy, blustery days, MizT. We had spaghetti tonight (Gil's birthday choice) with italian sausage, garlic bread and a blueberry/peach/strawberry pie, with whipped cream, for dessert.
The snow is supposed to end in 10 hours. I was out there a little while ago, and had to wade through knee deep snow. Gil had to go to the lab earlier today, and was going to walk over there. I told him to take the big tractor, which has a heated cab. He acted surprised. It never occurred to him. He got his truck hung up over there yesterday, and it's still there. The lab is a quarter mile as the crow flies, and a half mile by road. Both are nasty in bad weather.

Hi, Everyone!

I just saw this on the internet and need to post it for Heidi.
'A cow in Northeast Texas has given birth to rare quadrulets. The four calves — now known as Eeny, Meeny, Miny, and Moo — are healthy and thriving, even though their successful birth was an extremely rare occurrence!'

Hi, all... Sitting here watching the snow as it starts to cover my world in white. It's very cold and blustery and going to get worse. About two feet of snow is expected around here...But I haven't any place to be or anything that must be done, lots of food, drink and entertainment at hand, so all is good with me...at least as long as I have power...and that seldom goes, but it has, so fingers crossed on that and all is good. Hope all stay safe and warm... later. Peace.

Julie, our blizzard was a non event here in Alabama. A lot of snow fell, for about 8 hours, but it melted on contact. Wind was blowing 30 mph, and dried up all the melt before the temps dropped below freezing. Nothing going on here but cold cold weather.

I am waiting for Joy to visit. she is going to look at my computer. I made a list of some of the things it will not do, maybe that will help her get it going again. I would like to just buy a new one, but do not know what to buy, and no one will tell me,no one wants me to spend money. Honest, I have enough for this hehehe.

Heidi, is Gil's truck still stuck also? Nothing but tractors to get around? You still have power and no water frozen? Hope it begins to melt some today. Kentucky is like so many other southern states, and Washington DC, not enough equipment to remove snow, since a snow like this is so rare.

Joy looked at my computer, tried a few things that were unsuccessful. In fact, it is worse today than before, cannot open any news item on Google news, bummer. Maybe I should think about another computer.

Just finished my first cup of coffee, now [perhaps I can see to make breakfast hehehe. I am thinking French toast today.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.

We got his truck unstuck. It has 4WD. We have power and water. Never lost them for even a second. It's supposed to get well above freezing tomorrow, so driving should be easy then. I'm SO glad that I was well stocked with all the necessities before this storm hit. Especially since I haven't been able to get my truck out since Tuesday night.I don't know if the problem is Kentucky's location, or the fact that I live way out in the country, so we're low priority.

Bowled today for Australia Day. Overcast early but the sun came out and it started to get hot by the time we finished playing. Our team won and I got a Sara lee Pie and Ken a frozen chicken.
Heidi, lets hope that the snow melts and that you do not end up with ice. Pleased to hear that you did not lose power. How do your cattle get on in the snow. I know in Europe the animals are barned.

Greetings friends. I have been up early today, did some online shopping. I am looking for a new over the toilet storage shelf unit, the one I have is old, metal wire shelves, small items do not sit well. I also noticed it is beginning to tarnish down near the floor, so time to rep;ace it. I found a few I like, saved them on my wish list, will read more about each later, then decide.

We lost another resident over the weekend. Her name was Mary Ann, and she had been here only a couple months. I had seen her at a few functions, but never met her. I thought this was what happened Sunday, when I saw medics plus police come into building together. Only times police accompany medics , well there are two. If a person is out of control, as a mental patient or a domestic dispute with injuries they send police. the other time is if someone has died, if a body was found. I did not find out for sure until yesterday. RIP Mary Ann.

I started cutting back the lantana that has died back with the cold. I have landscape fabric and mulch I want to put around that bed, to keep down summer weeds. I had the materials last summer, but it got to hot before I got it done. I hope to get back to trimming again today, but will have to be early, as rain is expected this afternoon. Well, about 2 hours is my limit working at it anyway, so that should work out. It is cloudy today, so that 53 degrees will feel colder than yesterday in the sun. hope it is not as windy as yesterday, though.

Coffee is ready, time to start my day. Hugs to each of you, with extras.

Agree, Heidi, I hope yours improves quickly. Do not mess around with it, if it does not improve quickly, get it checked out, it could be more than a cold. Huge gentle hugs.

Tanya's 'cold' was diagnosed today as micro plasma, walking pneumonia. She went to doc because of ear ache, knew her 'cold' was getting into her chest. Doc gave her another week of antibiotics tablets, a steroid shot, antibiotic shot, ear drops, and no doing lunches till Friday at the earliest. I suggested she just wait till Monday to return, be sure she is over that, and well past contagious stage. Yes, she was contagious yesterday when she was here, no I did not get close to her, hope that was enough to spare me.

It is raining, has been raining off and on, mostly on, since before noon. Rain got here earlier than forecast. I went down to trim more shrubs this morning, but the wind across the car park was too brisk, so instead I went into the walled back garden. The solid brick walls blocked some of the wind. Worked on some of the winter killed Lantana back there, and the huge climbing rose bush. I did not finish as rain surprised me, sent me in without time to clear up the brush pile I had.Hoping for a warm and sunny day tomorrow to finish both chores.

My sunny avatar is the only sun I have seen in 2 days It is cold cold today, grey, windy and occasionally a bit of almost frozen mist. Not a day to work in the garden. I did go out long enough to move the large trash barrel I was filling with rubbish. Had left it in the garden bed, hoping I could get back to it today. Not going to happen.

We shall have entertainment today, a tap dance troupe of senior citizens. I shall be going down shortly. Not sure how long I will be able to stay, as today is cleaning day. Ann had an emergency and will be late, how late she is will decide how long I get to enjoy the entertainment.

I received another hat today. Daughter had bought me one for Christmas, it was too small, so we ordered another one that was adjustable, very similar. this one is cotton, so can be worn year round, black so it goes with so much. I may order myself another in spring color, they had a wide choice.

Hugs to each of you, with extras, till later.
