“Each second we live is a new and unique moment of the universe, a moment that will never be again And what do we teach our children? We teach them that two and two make four, and that Paris is the capital of France. When will we also teach them what they are? We should say to each of them: Do you know what you are? You are a marvel. You are unique. In all the years that have passed, there has never been another child like you. Your legs, your arms, your clever fingers, the way you move. You may become a Shakespeare, a Michaelangelo, a Beethoven. You have the capacity for anything. Yes, you are a marvel. And when you grow up, can you then harm another who is, like you, a marvel? You must work, we must all work, to make the world worthy of its children.' ~ Pablo Casals

Birthday wishes to Suzy! Have a wonderful day! I wish it were cooler for you.

Our cyber apologies to IH. For once he wasn't responsible for the missing item.

June, I'm glad the PET scan went well and you were able to get to the Bowls Christmas party on time!

Welcome home, Nola! I'm glad you have a week before returning to work. Of course, you'll be working to unpack, do laundry, etc, etc.

June, I am in awe. Making it to the bowling club after a test like that is incredible!

Nola, I hope you have a very relaxing week off. I've always felt like I need a while to recover after a holiday away.

The temp here went down to 27, but was back up to 30/86 by 2.30 am. We're supposed to get a cool change through, with rain, this afternoon. Fingers crossed!

Dinner out with the kids and hubby was fun. The cake Alie stayed up all night making was really yummy too.

Well I have to have a fasting blood test this morning and it's already 9am so I'm off.

Zusy, glad you had a good birthday.
Yes it is hot down this way, at least there is a breeze today. Will be taking Bella for a swim soon, the heat is knocking her about too.
Julie, don't think we need worry about cyber apoligies. IH has done so much that is wrong.
Hopefully in the next week or two Warren(Mr Cee), Linda(grass hopper), Pete and myself will be catching up with Zusy.
Nola, good to hear from you. Enjoy your extra week off.
MizT, gentle hugs for you.
June, more getle hugs too.
Heidi, I remember quite a while ago you said that marriage was a commitment for life, how the worm turns! I am really happy for you.
Luv and hugs to you all.

Greetings friends. heidi, I wuld not worry about falsely accusing Gil this one time. he must be guilty of SOMETHING hehehe.

June, so glad you did not miss your party. I had to grin at your being radio active after the test, cause AL had the same, and noone told him he would be radioactive. He managed to shae with me. No harm done though.

I consider the long trip to doc today to be successful. A bit strange that I knew more about spinal headaches than the nurse prat did. I am sue she went home and ooked tht up .
doc came in, after having read the 10 page of questions I had to answer (good thing we got there an hour early, took me that long) and told me no amount of meddication ws gonna help my heaache. said I needed a blood patch. suspects an ongoing smak leak of spinal fluid. NOT connected in any way to the pain clinic, so no good ole buddy loyalty to them. Has refereed me to a do, again out of mycircle of docs, to do it. when the young aldy who schedules such, checks on the request to insurance, knows the correct coding, asked why I did not go back to doc doing the procedure, might be quicker to get blood patch there. i explained that their immediate and ongoing response had been to CYA, they had NOTHING to do with my problem, and had flouriscopic proof, too. she smiled and said that is the second time in one day I have heard that CYA thing. IF she gets request to insurance by end of day tomorrow, there is a chance I can get it walked through for early next week. Wish me luck. Other wise It could be next year

falling asleep, already had more sleep, 5 hrs, than night before, but could stand a few more. huge Hugs.

MizT, glad to read there is a diagnosis and options. Bugger about the insurance company waits though. National health is far from perfect and there are weird things (eg if my PCP orders an MRI it's not covered, but if a specialist does, it is covered), June's uncovered test is another, but as far as I've encountered so far, there is no pre approval required. It's either covered or it isn't. The doc gets to decide what to do within that framework. Hopefully they tell us if they think we need it and it isn't covered.

My news today was not good. There is a secondary tumour outside the pancreas and it is attached to two arteries which precludes an operation. I will see the oncologist on Jan 4 and will probably start a new more toxic chemo and maybe some radiation. The prognosis for pancreatic cancer is not good at all. We knew about this after the CT scan, so although the last chemo did help with the primary tumour it did not stop this other one from growing. The family will be here for Christmas and I intend to enjoy my Christmas. Fortunately I am feeling really well.

Heidi, I lost a part of my thought on the suicide post, including the part about a resident here that has been 'a person of interest' in two deaths. A suicide pact if you will, but she always recovers, goes to ER, stomach pumped thing. I have NO problem with someone in hopeless pain, kidney dialysis, no family, life becoming more and more of a burden taking his life. I do have a problem with someone manipulating another into doing that, and supplying the drugs, a 'black widow' kind of person. Is she looking for vulnerable people and getting something out of taking them out?? or are hopeless people seeking her out for help cause they think she will? big difference in my mind.

My sometime soon blood patch is down the tubes now. not sure when or IF I will get it. Someone unknown to me answered an e mail in Patient portal saying he did not think I needed it at this time, but could get me in to see Dr K Friday AM. if apointment was less than 48 hoiurs from reciept, phone the ofice. I phoned, told I had appointment with a dr. L, whom I have never seen before. Just who is he and who made him god, to over ride the opinion of a neurologist who read my answers to a 10 page questionnaire, and what I had told the nurse pract plus her own exam and questions, who is this jerk that can override her opinion, and have insurance tie me in knots trying to get not 1 but two approvals, again at the end of the week, with many offices closing between Christmas and New Year. Not much time to get something done. If not for insurance practicing medicine, I could have had this scheduled for Friday, over and done. AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!. I am more than unhappy with this pain group down there. Livid is not enough to describe the anger and frustration. Cannot sleep tonight, thoughts go back to why the heck can't whomever you are at least wait till you see me to decide if I need this or not. A heavy amount of CYA going on I do believe.

Last night I slept 12 hours, just such a relief to know someone knew what happened, and how to make it right again. have not slept an hour yet. Double Drats!!

MizT, I understand your frustration. Fortunately I can afford to pay for medications and treatments not covered by insurance.
The most annoying part must be not getting the blood parch when you are sure that is needed to get rid of the headaches.
I am busy cleaning the pantry as things were quite a jumble and will help when I have visitors over Christmas if things are easy to see (and to also know just what I do have in the pantry).
Next year I will start to get rid of the things that Ken will never use. Things for making cakes etc. I will also start culling my clothes, although I have been giving away some of my larger sizes that I will never wear again.

Today I crashed, could not do anything worthwhile, could not find things just in front of me. Tay came to cook a couple of things for me to have in the fridge, do the straightening and de cluttering before inspection tomorrow. I went into bedroom, closed the door. How can washing a few dishes make THAT much noise? Puled covers over my head and slept off and on today. Must be down at pain clinic before 8 am. My warmest coat is still at my nephews house from Thanksgiving. It is supposed to be below freezing as I motor down to pain clinic in my power chair, brrrr.

June, you amaze me, clearing your closets so that will not be left for family if you do not survive this cancer. It fits your personality, always helpful, always doing for others. May you have many many pain free days, and spend them doing some things just for YOU. Sending heaps of wishes, thoughts and prayers your way.

I am no wonder woman. I am a hoarder and procrastinator. I( now look at curtain material I bought years ago to make curtains and boxes of other material. (Must find someone who sews for charity). I looked in the linen cupboard and there are towel sets in boxes that I had before we were married 53 years ago. (They are small thin towels to what I like these days),I have furniture that I was going to French polish. All the Special cards we have received over 50 years of so. Then there is all the stuff I have inherited from generations of family hoarders. there are interesting letters written in the 1850' and 60's. Also boxes and boxes of photos.
I have a collection of clothing dating back to the 1880 bustle era.
This is a 4 bedroom house with a nice garden. Not sure how long Ken (who does not like gardening) will be able to maintain the place.

You just proved my point, June. There's nothing wrong with hanging onto things with good intentions for them. The old letters will be so cool to share with your grandchildren. Any theater group would love the old clothing. The towels would be much appreciated by a soup kitchen for homeless people. A LOT of good can come from hanging onto that stuff for years instead of tossing it away.

June's I haven't got the words to say how I feel about your latest news. I keep starting sentences and then deleting them. I'll just send gentle hugs.

The grandkids have just arrived and are loving the Xmas de orations. Isobel is walking around saying hi ho ho in her deepest voice, and sometimes adding merry Christmas, or the not quite 2 version. This is kind of huge because she rarely speaks without prompting, preferring to point and grunt. She can speak, she just chooses not to.

Heidi, the antique clothing is too fragile for a theatre group. It would be best in a museum. Although Belinda might like to keep it. My sisters have the rest of Mum's collection and it could be added to what they have kept.

I spent 4 hours at the pain clinic Friday. They sent 2 people in to interview me, one as a 'witness'? I was subjected to yet another urine test, and had to sign for this one to be sent to an outside lab. WHY? When I read the doc's summary of my visit on the patient portal thing, it was full of inaccuracies and incomplete truths. NOW I cannot even get back in to see what was said.

I had an injection of torodol upstairs before going down to procedure area where I had four hours of oxygen, a liter of fluid, and IV lidocaine. All my aches and pains went away EXCEPT the headache. He asks if I can take torridol, I say yes, he takes out a syringe and starts to give IV. WAIT, I had torrodol upstairs.

Then he dedides to Xray my neck. My neck has bone spurs, and it curves out where it should curve in. So headaches could cme from being face down on table for varrying amounts of time, in a position that stirred up the neck problems each procedure. I had not noticed neck problems, hidden under other pain I suppose.

Are they gonna do anything about it? Not in the foreseeable future. Tech in the procedure area put me on schedule, pending insurance approval, for Wednesday. told me to go upstairs and tell them. I did. They said NO, cannot go onto schedule until insurance approval. Is the person, the ONE person who can do that here today? Yes, but she must do them in the order they came in. Have a nice day. she really said that. Have a nice day. I told her NO, I could not have a nice day until something was done about these headaches, that I have had for 36 days now. I really nearly lost it!

Posting fore I loose this. sorry for the pity party, but I deserve one, a whopping big one today.

Tomorrow is my family Christmas party. this is my Christmas, and not sue I can stay upright ong enough to enjoy it. ONLY thing doc did was tell me to increase the muscle relaxer I am already on. 'Increase frequency much as you can, but I do not want you comatose'.

will come back after our party tomorrow, let you know how that went. Hopefully a post that is in a better mode than this one is . Hugs to each of you, with extra special ones for June. I feel so little complaining bout my problems, and you are facing the big C. Huge hugs for you friend.

MizT, your comment about runningpatients in and out reminded me of when I used to take my father in law to the VA hospital. Each day seemed to be for a different thing. Colon polyp day, for example. And the signs on the walls! Basically saying, there's a good chance we'll. be experimenting on you. I can't imagine what it would be like to be a patient going through that!
